2016 Abreu Golf Circuit
bundant sunshine gave a special boost to the
third stage of the 2016 Abreu Golfe Circuit,
played on June 4th at the Estela Golf Club, in
Povoa do Varzim.
Sixty eight players – 34 pairs – competed on a well
kept course, offering exceptional golfing possibilities.
Here, the beauty is many shades of green, starting
from the bottom of the dunes, all the way up to the
summit. Down below, the beach, and a bit further the
infinite blue of the ocean and the sky, touching, far
away, in the unreachable line at the horizon.
In terms of golf, three pairs qualified for the final:
Russel Latapy/Francisco Sampaio Junior (1st gross,
38 points), Vasco Costa/Manuel Antonio Silva (1st net,
46) and Daniel Barros Silva/Nelson Silva Ramos (2nd
net, 44).
But there were other matters of interest, like the especially lively moments over lunch, the prize awarding, and closing the programme, the generous raffle,
filled by the gathering’s sponsors.
The 4th stage will be played on July 2nd, at another
admirable venue,Vidago Palace Golf, in Vidago.
The Abreu Golf Circuit is a charitable event. Ten percent of the revenue generated from the enrolment
fees is donated to Bagos d’Ouro, an association which
provides services to needy children and youth along
the Douro.

sol de um verão anunciado veio conferir um
brilho especial à 3.ª etapa do Circuito de Golfe
Abreu 2016, disputada a 4 de junho, no Estela
Golf Club, Póvoa de Varzim.
Inscritos 68 jogadores, no desdobramento de 34 pares,
para competir num campo bem cuidado, oferecendo
condições de exceção aos praticantes da modalidade.
Aqui, belo é o verde em diferentes expressões, evoluindo
do sopé das dunas até ao seu recorte cimeiro; lá em baixo,
a praia e, logo depois, o azul infinito do mar e do céu, que
se tocam ao longe, no fio inatingível do horizonte.
Do ponto de vista competitivo, para a história do evento
ficam inevitavelmente as três duplas apuradas para a final:
Russell Latapy e Francisco Sampaio Júnior (1.º lugar Gross,
38 pontos), Vasco Costa e Manuel António Silva (1.º lugar
Net, 46 pontos) e, a fechar o pódio, Daniel Barros Silva e
Nélson da Silva Ramos (2.º lugar Net, 44 pontos).
Mas a reportagem tem outros tópicos inescapáveis,
como os momentos especialmente animados durante o
almoço, a entrega de prémios e, a completar o programa, a generosa tômbola de surpresas proporcionadas
pelas marcas parceiras do evento.
Virando a página, a 4.ª etapa joga-se a 2 de julho, noutra
paragem admirável, exuberante e também ela singular o Vidago Palace Golf, no Vidago.
O Circuito de Golfe Abreu é uma iniciativa com dimensão solidária: 10% das receitas geradas pelas inscrições
reverte para a Bagos d’Ouro, associação que desenvolve no Douro um trabalho relevante no apoio a crianças
e jovens carenciados.
