Celebrating in style!
T
he 50th anniversary of Vale do
Lobo was marked on the 10th
August with a fantastic summer
cocktail party for property owners
and invited guests.
The Parque do Golfe was transformed into a magical setting for the
evening with outstanding entertainment from musicians, a DJ, the
Soul Station band and with a flurry of fireworks before the dancing
continued into the night.
The eagerly anticipated anniversary event was a chance for the resort
community to mingle under the
stars in a stylish setting synonymous with Vale do Lobo and to enjoy a fantastic reception with a few
surprises including the very popular 50th anniversary throne!
The cocktail party was also an opportunity for Vale do Lobo CEO
Diogo Gaspar Ferreira to thank the
property owners for their unwavering support over the past five
decades in creating a luxury resort
unlike any other and to show that
the future is indeed a bright one in
Vale do Lobo.
A memorable evening was enjoyed
by everyone involved and all that
was left was to toast to another 50
years of success in Vale do Lobo!

collection of art from Portuguese
artist Alexandre Bastos.
A series of intriguing and thought
provoking paintings by Alexandre
Bastos have been brought to the
gallery as a result of a partnership
between the prestigious São Mamede Gallery and Vale do Lobo and
offer visitors the chance to experience contemporary Portuguese
art first hand.
The exhibition will be opening to
the public on September 24th with
cocktails to celebrate the event
from 18.30h.
The paintings from Alexandre
Bastos will be on display at the gallery located at the Parque do Golfe
from 24th September until 5th November. The gallery is open Monday – Friday from 10.00h – 19.00h.

an autograph session held at the
Champagne Bar at Breeze in Vale
do Lobo.
Fans from all generations waited
patiently to meet with Sir Cliff Richard who was signing bottles of
his wines from the Adega do Cantor winery, with part of the proceeds of the wine being donated to the
Wolf Valley Charity Fund.
When presented with a copy of the
50th anniversary Vale do Lobo Living
Magazine, Sir Cliff Richard joked
that the resort had been in business
for “only one year less than me”!

POA AGM and International Evening
T
he Property Owners Association (POA) will be holding their
Annual General Meeting on 10th
October from 15.00h in the Vale do
Lobo Auditorium.
This is a chance for members of the
POA to catch up on what has been
going on at the resort and to be
able to share views and suggestions
with the other members.
The dedication of property owners
to maintaining the resort at the highest possible levels is demonstrated in the very high turnout shown
each year while this is also a fan-
tastic opportunity for new members of the community to meet the
other residents and to introduce
themselves.
Full details of the POA AGM agenda will be sent to members before
the event.
Following the AGM there will once
again be an International Evening
at Spikes restaurant from 19.00h
on 10th October.
Diners will be able to enjoy a selection of dishes representing an international theme with entertainment following the meal.

Prevention is better than cure
by the Vale do Lobo Medical Centre
A
n expression that everyone has
hears and one that the Medical Centre in Vale do Lobo has now

The medical expertise at the Vale
do Lobo Medical Centre has made
it possible for everyone to now have
a Comprehensive Premium Health

patients will visit the Vale do Lobo
Medical Centre for initial tests and
will then travel to the state of the art
Hospital Particular in Faro where

• CT scan of the lungs
• Heart ECG, stress test and echocardiogram
After all tests are completed within
3 to 4 hours, patients are then free
to leave and wait for the results later that day. The results of the tests
will be presented by a doctor at the
medical centre and presented in
a health check report folder and a
Health Action Plan for a future healthier lifestyle will also be given.
The cost of all the tests and advice is
€1,650 but research has shown that
this price is incredibly competitive
with the added bonus of being completed in just a single day.

Club championships and Captains Day
A
weekend of fantastic golf will
be taking place in September
with the Vale do Lobo Club Championship returning on 20th September with a tournament held
on the Royal Golf Course while
the annual Captains Day will held
on 21st September on the stunning
Ocean Course.
The Club Championship is a Singles Stableford competition with
prizes for first, second and third
places and is an event that not only
draws on the fun and competitive
spirit of the competitors but also
usually produces some exceptional
play.
The Club Champion will be the
Vale do Lobo Golf Club Member
with the best gross score while
members guests are able to also
come and play for just €50,00 –
come along and test your skills!
The following day will see the Captains Day competition, also played
in a Single Stableford format. This
is a very popular date in the diary
for the Golf Club members and
one that sees the entire Vale do
Lobo golfing community coming
together.

Living in…
Portuguese economy on the up
T
here has been good news for the
Portuguese economy, with new
figures showing that not only has
Portugal bucked the recessionary
trend but has also surpassed the
economic performance of its European neighbours in recent months.
The economic tides in Portugal
appear to be turning with the GDP
in Portugal up by 1.1% in the second
quarter, while unemployment benefits have dropped by 5.7%.
After 10 consecutive quarters of
recession the Portuguese economy
has pulled itself out of recession
during the second quarter of this
year with a rise in GDP of 1.1%.
The growth registered between
April and June has been attributed
to an increase in exports and has
been viewed as an encouraging
step towards future success in the
country.
The positive news for Portugal
continues with data revealing that
the number of people in the country receiving unemployment benefits has fallen by 5.7% during the
second quarter of 2013.
Data from the Social Security services in Portugal showed that the
number of people claiming benefits in June stood at 393,000, a drop
of 5.7% in comparison to March
this year.
Social Support benefits are also
falling in Portugal with the number of recipients down by 1.4%
in June compared to March and
falling by 4.1% compared to 2012
figures.

the country looks brighter than it
has done for many months.

egundo os dados oficiais recentemente divulgados, a economia
em Portugal evidencia claros sinais
de recuperação, que não só contraria a tendência de recessão como
também supera o desempenho económico dos seus vizinhos Europeus
ao longo dos últimos meses.
Os novos números revelam que Portugal registou um crescimento de 1,1%
do Produto Interno Português (PIB) no
segundo trimestre de 2013 e uma redução de 5,7% no número de desempregados a receber subsídio.
Depois de dez trimestres a destruir
riqueza, a economia nacional regressou ao crescimento. Os dados do
Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE)
mostram que a economia cresceu
1,1% entre Abril e Junho face ao primeiro trimestre, o que é um primeiro passo para sair da mais longa recessão
em Portugal desde que há registos.
O crescimento registrado entre Abril
e Junho é atribuído ao significativo
aumento das exportações e tem sido
visto como um promissor passo para
o sucesso futuro do país.

As notícias encorajadoras de Portugal
continuam com os novos dados que
revelam uma redução do número de
desempregados a receber subsídio
em 5,7% no segundo trimestre de 2013.
Segundo a Segurança Social, em Junho existiam 392.951 pessoas a receber subsídio de desemprego, o que
representa uma queda de 5,7%, face
ao registado em Março. No conjunto
do segundo trimestre foram assim
menos 23.685 as pessoas que receberam esta prestação social.
Em Junho eram 271.264 a receber RSI,
uma queda de 1,4% face Março, de
4,1% contra o final de 2012 e de 20,2%
contra Junho de 2012.
Todos os dados positivos mostram
que Portugal está a claramente a reagir e a evidenciar claros sinais de recuperação rumo à saída da recessão e a
um promissor futuro económico.
