Every year around 4,000 people, including children, are brought
into the UK for sexual and labour exploitation. They come from
many countries including Albania, Brazil, China, Ghana, Nigeria,
Thailand, the Ukraine and Vietnam.

If you are a victim of sexual or labour exploitation, you may feel
trapped, powerless and afraid.
You may have been promised a better life here. Instead you
find yourself living in fear.
You may be frightened because you are in the UK illegally or
because you have been forced to work illegally. Violence may
have been used against you or you may be threatened with
violence.
Help and protection are available and we can give you advice
and assistance.
The European Convention on Human Rights obliges the UK
Government to protect all persons against slavery and
servitude as well as torture, cruel, inhuman and degrading
treatment.

Law Centre (NI) is an independent charity. It gives legal advice
in: immigration, employment, community care, social security
and mental health.
We can give you expert legal advice. We may also refer you to
other agencies for help with your safety, accommodation and
welfare needs.
Our service is free and confidential.
Will the people who are exploiting me be
punished?
Those who traffic people into the UK for the purposes of
exploiting them can be prosecuted. They may be imprisoned for
fourteen years. Other criminal sanctions apply.
However, our service is confidential. We will help you whether or
not you cooperate with a police prosecution of the person or
people who have exploited you.

Chaque année, environ 4000 personnes parmi lesquelles des

sexuelles et commerciales. Ils viennent de nombreux pays

Existe-t-il une façon de protéger les victimes ?
Oui.
Si vous êtes victime d’exploitation sexuelle ou commerciale, vous
vous sentez probablement piégé/e, démuni/e et terrifié/e.
Peut-être vous a-t-on promis une vie meilleure ici au RoyaumeUni. Au lieu de cela, vous vous retrouvez à vivre dans une peur
constante.
Il se peut que vous ayez peur parce que vous êtes en situation
illégale ou bien parce que l’on vous a forcé/e à travailler de façon
illégale au Royaume-Uni. Il se peut que vous ayez été victime de
violences ou bien que l’on vous ait menacé/e.
Aide et protection sont à portée de main et nous pouvons vous
offrir conseils et assistance.
La Convention Européenne des Droits de l’Homme oblige le
gouvernement du Royaume-Uni à protéger toute personne
contre l’esclavage et la servitude ainsi que contre la torture, la
