Contact: Irma Luna, (316) 259-2532 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 25, 2013 $65,675 IN SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED TO 48 HISPANIC HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS Wichita, KS March 25, 2013 – The Kansas Hispanic Education & Development Foundation (KHEDF) will award $65,675 in scholarships to forty-eight talented and deserving Hispanic high school seniors from across the Wichita metro area, Andover, Derby and Haysville. The students will receive scholarships ranging from $1,000 up to $5,900 for the 2013-2014 academic years. “KHEDF is grateful to have the support of its Circle of Donors that recognizes the value of higher education and are willing to provide scholarships to prepare the next generation of leaders and ensure an educated workforce,” said Yolanda Camarena, President of KHEDF’s Board of Directors. “With the support from individuals, businesses, corporations, community colleges & universities KHEDF exceeded its goal of $60,000—a 42% increase over last year.” “One way AT&T can make a meaningful social impact is by empowering young people to pursue a postsecondary education,” said Les Depperschmidt, AT&T Kansas. “By partnering with the Kansas Hispanic Education & Development Foundation, we aim to create opportunities for these students to realize their full potential.” The Kansas Hispanic Education & Development scholarship recipients will be recognized May 16, 2013 th at the Wichita Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 11 Annual Awards & Scholarship Recognition Banquet, Double Tree by Hilton Wichita Airport, 2098 South Airport Road.
