Wasteland
is a duet.
Begins as a physical intervention of
a body in another and an awareness
of two bodies in the same space.
We’ve started to see the expressive,
never ending language of the body,
becoming avoided, transforming
itself in a ‘dumpster’ territory where
the body is easily abandoned and
forgotten.
We gave ourselves the responsibility
to create concurrency and tune
between two bodies that can easily
dive into physical confrontation.
We challenge ourselves trying to
remember again the pleasure of
discovering where the creative
body takes part on the game of the
creative process. We found a body
becoming a instrument of abstract
speech and the process becoming a
poetic unfolding of the body.

SYNOPSIS
is fascinated by any extension
of himself in any other material
besides himself. A collection
of stories and moments in the
organizing and configuring
process of reality extended to the
imaginary, the physicality of ideas.
To conquer the territory with the
body The body becomes the
territory.
Is a project of artistic collaboration
between the two dancers António
Cabrita and São Castro, in which
they propose an interaction of
interests and creative materials
such as movement, image and
sound.

António Cabrita
has a degree in dance by the
Escola Superior de Dança in Lisbon , was formed in the the National
Conservatoire Dance School, he also studied dance at the Joffrey
Ballet School in NY, cinema at the New York Film Academy, and
studied advertising at Restart.
He works in Portugal, Germany and other European countries, as a
dancer, choreographer, actor, video-designer and sound designer.
In the last years he worked in pieces from several choreographers,
like Rui Horta, Né Barros, Silke Z., Tânia Carvalho, Hofesh Shechter,
between others. Also he participated as guest in projects like
Colina, and festivals, Repérages, and Temps D’image. He was
nominated for the Portugal Dance Awards 2009. He directed in
2009 the To fail Project. He choreographed in 2011 the piece “88”
for the company Quorum Ballet. He teaches composition and video
workshops in several european countries.
He is a resident artist in the german company Silke Z./ Resistdance.
Since 2011 develops the project ACSC with São Castro.
São Castro
studied in Balleteatro Professional Dance
and Theatre School in Oporto and graduated by Escola Superior
de Dança, Lisbon. Worked with Isabel Barros and Né Barros in
Balleteatro Company and Ricardo Pais in a theater production
“The lesson” by Ionesco. Joined Companhia Portuguesa de
Bailado Contemporâneo under the direction of Vasco Wellenkamp
and Ballet Gulbenkian untill its extinction. As a freelancer worked
with Benvindo Fonseca, Rui Lopes Graça, Clara Andermatt, Paulo
Ribeiro, Olga Roriz, Tânia Carvalho and André Mesquita. Created
a duet for students of National Conservatoire Dance School to be
performed in International Youth Festival Expression in Greece.
Was invited to perform “ Notion- Dance Fiction “ created by Ka Fai
Choy in InShadow Festival 2011 and recently worked with Hofesh
Shechter for Guimarães European Capital of Culture 2012. Is a
teacher of Contemporary Dance and has been developing her
studies in Portuguese Sign Language.
Since 2011 develops the project ACSC with António Cabrita.
