Evaluation Criteria
The selection of the winning estate was made in 04 stages, whereby in the 1st and
2nd stages the farms were evaluated according to environmental and productivity standards.
For each criterion, the properties were ranked so that the best property under that criterion
would receive the highest score. In the 3rd and 4th stages, a summary of each property in
the finals was prepared and submitted to the evaluation committee to determine the winning
farm.
First Stage:
In the first stage of the evaluation and selection process, 196 properties registered
with Aliança da Terra were competing. Three criteria were evaluated: native vegetation
cover, soil conservation and fire. The maximum score for each criterion obtained in this
step is equal to the number of properties being evaluated.
By having 35.5% of native vegetation cover and being located in the Cerrado
biome, Fazenda Morena scored 156 points in the criterion, ranking 41st place.

The 20 best ranked properties in the 1st stage vied in the 2nd stage of the 2nd
Producing Right Award. The following criteria were evaluated: environmental legalization,
land tenure, Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs), landscape metrics, Level of Harvesting
Efficiency, and Level of Land Use. The environmental legalization, land tenure criteria had
a qualifying character.
Before starting the assessment according to the criteria of this stage, the 20 preselected properties were again ranked following the same criteria as those of the previous
stage, thus obtaining a new score. This way, Fazenda Morena started the evaluation of the
2nd stage with a 32-point score. The maximum score for each criterion in this stage is equal
to the number of properties that proved to Aliança da Terra their environmental and land
tenure compliance.
