HIGH TECH
Sensitive products,
flawless service
Telecoms, mass electronic products
and information technology these high-tech products,
which are highly in demand and
constantly changing, represent
a major proportion of Norbert
Dentressangle’s transport activity.
This sector calls for a high quality
transport service, tight deadlines
and outstanding product security.
T
his is a highly dynamic
sector! Technical products
are characterised by an
increasingly short life cycle, which
leads to ranges being constantly
updated. The short-lived nature
of these products also means that
points of sale have to keep stocks
to a minimum, in order to
respond as effectively as
possible to demand. Daily
deliveries are therefore vital.
Another major characteristic
of the sector is the necessity
of ensuring the security of
goods.
In fact, high-tech products
are becoming increasingly
desirable, which means that
transport companies have
to implement drastic security
rules.

FNAC
High-security distribution
As the leading French distributor of cultural and technological goods,
FNAC markets a very broad range of products. The company relies on
Norbert Dentressangle for distribution to its town centre stores. This calls
for tight security measures during transport.
T
rendy, innovative, rapid turnover,
expensive, in a word “sensitive” - the
cultural and technical products marketed
by FNAC are given very special attention.
“The problems of guaranteeing the secure transport
of our goods are a priority,” stresses Eric Moraes,
FNAC transport manager. “Reliability, consistency
and security define our needs. This includes
reliability in terms of respecting collection and
delivery times, secure vehicles, routes, rest/transfer
zones, driving times, etc.”
As a FNAC partner since April 2009, the
Norbert Dentressangle team, 100% dedicated
to this project, has demonstrated its ability to
fulfil the company’s most exacting requirements:
transport exclusively using hard sided vehicles,
defined check pointed routes, trained and
supervised drivers, etc. The vehicles themselves
are secure and an alarm is triggered if the
vehicle or its load is diverted from their route.

In the store - by 8 am every morning
In practical terms, the semi-trailers are loaded
every day from 1 pm onwards at the FNAC’s
central depot in the Paris region and set out
for the 28 regional depots, where the goods
are reloaded onto smaller vehicles for delivery
to town centres. This enables deliveries to be
made to the 56 FNAC stores (outside of the
Paris region) at 8 am every day. The FNAC
store logistics teams are therefore able to receive
and stock the products before 10 am, when the
stores open to the public.
“If a store does not receive deliveries within
the deadlines, this leads to a loss in turnover,”
emphasises Eric Moraes. At the same time, the
return transport of goods is guaranteed within
72 hours. •
