In this poster presentation we will describe a set of concrete models which can be used
to reinforce the teaching of statistics with respect to some of the main concepts in the theory
of statistics and probability. These include descriptive statistics, sampling, planning of
experiments, construction of the normal distribution, confidence intervals, among others topics.
Some examples are:
(i) A model for building the normal distribution shows, experimentally, that independent
random processes lead to the Gaussian distribution;
(ii) The sampling model shows the following principles of simple random sampling, using
fixed sample size: a subgroup “tends” to approach the characteristics in the population
(joint total), when we repeat the experiment several times;
(iii) It is easy to present a descriptive analysis with a shooting game to a target, which serves to
determine and to analyze summary statistics in relation the performance of the players.
