The Requirements
For more than 55 years, the Leifheit Corporation has been one of the
leading providers of household products in Europe. It is the company’s
goal to be the leading expert for solutions that make everyday life at
home easier and more convenient. The brands Leifheit and Soehnle
are two of the best known brands in Germany that offer innovative
high quality products with a high level of functionality and pioneering
design.
The Leifheit Group has approximately 1,000 employees. The registered offices of the company are located in Nassau in the RhinelandPalatinate region of Germany. From here, the company ships its products to more than 80 countries worldwide. Leifheit has more than
15 international sites and branch offices, including five logistics and
production sites in Germany, France and the Czech Republic. In addition to brand business, Leifheit also operates in the service-oriented
volume business together with its French subsidiary Birambeau and
Herby.
For its international product communication, Leifheit needs a central
Marketing Information Management system that enables it to consistently manage its product data, images and translations and to supply channels, i.e. company websites and external stakeholders such
as agencies and retailers, quickly and efficiently with the necessary
data for marketing and media production. The large amount of incoming data and texts must be managed effectively and transparently
before being made available to the market without delay. A product
information system should directly populate the online product catalog and automatically supply retailers in more than 80 countries with
product information in the relevant languages. The software should
be easy to operate so that even occasional users can operate it without any problems. All processes for the data maintenance should
be quality-assured and centrally controlled. It is also important that
mass downloads are effective and do not cause a loss of performance.

Our Solution
With the help of CONTENTSERV and in collaboration with employees, retailers and external service providers, for example agencies,
Leifheit is now able to cover all tasks and processes regarding the
management and provision of product and media data including all
relevant translations. In the next expansion stage, even the print processes will be operated by CONTENTSERV.
To this end, CONTENTSERV provides a central Marketing Information
Management platform for the media-neutral creation, management
and merging of all necessary image and product data.
The PIM and MAM system and the Translation Manager that are used
are the central components of the modular CONTENTSERV solution.
All processes and tasks are comprehensively controlled via the CONTENTSERV Workflow Manager. All workflows can be configured in
a highly-flexible manner to specifically meet all of Leifheit’s requirements. For example, automated translation processes have already
been specifically configured for this Leifheit application scenario.
The PIM system, i.e. the central Product Information Management
system, takes over the structured maintenance, management and
provision of all product information. All product information is maintained in the PIM system and kept up-to-date before being enriched
with additional texts, translations and media data and subsequently
released. The PIM system uses so-called views to determine the specific use of this information in various channels. For the provision of
product data to dealers, the PIM system has an intuitive and selfexplanatory portal interface.
Leifheit’s existing SAP system has been directly integrated into the
PIM system to enable a continual exchange with the master data in
the ERP and to ensure that changes of prices and attributes are immediately made available to the marketing department.
The Media Asset Management (MAM system) manages all image
and media data media-neutrally, i.e. independent of the output channel and provides both the PIM system as well as the user with this
data via the integrated MAM portal. Requested images are automatically provided in the desired resolution and color depth.
On the basis of these service portals, agencies, service providers and
in particular dealers in 80 countries can now autonomously access
product information and media data and flexibly prepare exports in
different languages as well as specifically for each individual need –
without any additional work for Leifheit. In practice, Leifheit is now
able to provide its trading partners with a complete product catalog
in any scope desired and in real-time.
