Frank Kuruc, born in Trencin, Slovakia, studied guitar at the State University of
Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart and at the Berklee College of Music in
Boston. He gave concerts with Hans Koller, Peter Herbolzheimer, Dieter Reith,
Ack van Royen, Mikis Theodorakis, Till Brönner, Nils Landgren, Herbert Joos,
John Lee, Lars Danielson, Nils-Peter Molvaer, Dieter Falk, Mario Adorf, DePhazz,
Gentleman, Patrice, Freundeskreis, Joy Denalane, Bill Dobbins, Katia and Marielle
Labeque, Joe LaBarbera, Paquito D´Rivera, Alex Acuna, Billy Cobham,
Temptations, Charlie Mariano, Randy Brecker, Richie Beirach, Der Rote Bereich,
Jon Lord (Deep Purple), Joo Kraus (Tab Two), Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones),
and others, as well as with the SWR, WDR and HR Big Bands and the SWF
Orchestra, the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, the German Pops Orchestra
and the Stuttgart Ballet.
As a guitarist, co-producer and musical director for the singer Joy Denalane,
Kuruc did several tours through Germany, Austria and Switzerland and gave
concerts in New York and Philadelphia. The album “Mamani” was among the
German Top Ten for several weeks, won the Comet award, and the singer was
nominated several times for the Echo prize. Appearances on: TV-Total, the Anke
Engelke Show, MTV Campus Invasion, the Echo award ceremony, Cologne

Summer Jam, Chiemsee Reggae Festival, Africa Festival Würzburg, Wiesn
Festival Vienna, SWR New Pop Festival, Winterthur Music Weeks and others.
He can be heard as guitarist and co-author on the album by Max Herre, which
went from 0 to 1 in the German charts in September 2004.
In 2005 he did several tours and jazz festivals with Wolfgang Haffner; Jazz
Baltica, Jazz Open Stuttgart, Jazz Rally Düsseldorf, Jazzfest Hamburg, the
Leverkusen Jazz Days and others. In 2006 he toured Austria with the Mike
Svoboda Ensemble. He did a three-week tour throughout Europe with Wolfgang
Haffner that included concerts in Prague, Copenhagen, Stockholm, London,
Lisbon, Vienna, Budapest, and elsewhere, as well as an additional three-week
tour through India, Pakistan and Bangldesh with the Goethe-Institut.
As a teacher, Frank Kuruc has taught at the BundesJazzOrchester, at Berklee
Meets Europe (NRW) and he has been teaching as professor of jazz guitar and
ensemble directing at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts
since May 2004.
Der in Trencin, Slowakei geborene Frank Kuruc studierte an der Staatlichen
Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart und am Berklee College of Music in Boston

Als Gitarrist, Co-Produzent und musikalischer Leiter der Sängerin Joy Denalane
unternahm Frank Kuruc mehrere Tourneen in Deutschland, Österreich der
Schweiz und gab Konzerte in New York und Philadelphia. Das Album „Mamani“
hielt sich mehrere Wochen in den deutschen Top Ten, gewann den Kometen und
die Sängerin wurde mehrmals für den Echo nominiert. Auftritte bei: TV-Total,
Anke Engelke Show, MTV Campus Invasion, Echo Verleihung, Köln Summer Jam,
Chiemsee Reggea Festival, Africa Festival Würzburg, Wiesn Festival Wien, SWR

Er ist als Gitarrist und Co-Autor auf dem Album von Max Herre zu hören, das im
September 2004 von 0 auf 1 der deutschen Charts eingestiegen ist.
2005 war er auf mehrere Tourneen und Jazzfestivals mit Wolfgang Haffner,
darunter Jazz Baltika, Jazz Open Stuttgart, Jazz Ralley Düsseldorf, Jazzfest
Hamburg, Leverkusener Jazztage u.a.. 2006 Österreich Tour mit dem Mike
Svoboda Ensemble.

Als Lehrer unterrichtet Frank Kuruc seit 1997 als Dozent beim BundesJazzOrchester, beim Berklee meets Europe (NRW) und seit Mai 2004 ist er Professor
für Jazz-Gitarre und Ensembleleitung an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik
und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim.
