“ Rückfragehinweis: Leigh A. Hooper, Vorstand, Telefon +49 61 72 4 83 23 52 Bad Homburg v. d. H., 27. News Release 20.07.2005 Project Update ENGLISH ACTIVA RESOURCES AG: DEVELOPING THE BARNETT SHALE PROJECT Activa Resources AG’s US subsidiary Activa Resources, LLC and its project partner Bayrock Operating Company have entered into a joint venture agreement with Lewis Petro Properties, San Antonio, Texas (“Lewis”) to ensure a rapid expansion of its Barnett Shale play in Jack County, Texas. Under the agreement Lewis will become the Operator of the project while acquiring a 60 % interest. Activa Resources, LLC has sold a 15 % interest in the project to Lewis and retains a 25 % interest. The Agreement dictates that Lewis will commence drilling operations on the first test well in the coming weeks and that an additional horizontal well will be drilled immediately thereafter. Pursuant to the agreement, the terms of the deal are confidential. Lewis is a fully integrated exploration and production company with over 25 years of experience and a commanding position in South Texas as the most active producer in Webb, LeSalle and Dimmitt counties. It employs 350 people and operates its own fleet of drilling and workover rigs. Leigh A. Hooper, CEO of Activa Resources AG made the following statement: “The Barnett Shale is one of the most significant onshore natural gas discoveries of recent decades. Activa Resources, LLC is already well positioned to benefit from further field expansion and Lewis’s commitment is a clear demonstration of the attraction of Activa’s Barnett Shale play. The key to successfully developing our Barnett Shale project will be the ability to expand the acreage position in Jack County aggressive- ly and, when drilling commences, to develop production of natural gas as swiftly as possible. Despite the current shortage of personnel, drilling rigs and equipment in the US, the agreement with Lewis will allow Activa to achieve these objectives more quickly and effectively. The Management believes the agreement with Lewis will maximize and, through development of the field, increase the value of this project to our shareholders. The terms of the agreement are favourable to Activa and the project team has been substantially strengthened. At the same time Activa has maintained a significant interest of 25 % . ” Enquiries: Leigh A. Hooper, CEO, Tel. +49 61 72 4 83 23 52 Bad Homburg v. d.
