Public nominations were open from February 1 to April 1. 109 submissions made
with 84 distinct nominees.
Lifetime Achievement Award presented and Class of 2014 inducted.
2014 Induction held in Detroit on September 27 and 28. 300 people attended with
another 130 watching simulcast with Jim Kilroy at the California Yacht Club.
Induction in 2105 at Bay Head Yacht Club; in 2016 at St. Francis Yacht Club; and
in 2017 at New York Yacht Club at Harbour Court.
STEM SAILING™: LEARNING MATH & SCIENCE THOUGH SAILING

Discussions and plans are underway to institute the STEM Sailing™: Learning
Math & Science through Sailing program in additional 10 high schools across the
country.
105 organizations are part of the STEM Sailing: Learning Math & Science
through Sailing National Consortium. A bi-monthly newsletter of best practices
and resources is distributed. National Workshop held at the United States Naval
Academy was attended by 44 people.
287 9th & 10th grade Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) students participated in seven-week
NSHOF Project Based Learning Module sessions.
197 9th & 10th grade AACPS STEM students participated in field trips to the
NSHOF including a tour of United States Naval Academy Hydrolab and Crown
Sailing Center.
Fourth Annual Marine and Maritime Career Fair for students in grades 7-12 held
at Annapolis High School. Co-sponsored by Anne Arundel County Public
Schools and Eastport Yacht Club Foundation.
An Educator DigiCourse — “The Physics, Engineering and Technology of
Sailing” — is under development.
The College of Charleston and Anne Arundel County Public Schools are planning
Summer Academies to teach math and science teachers how to sail and to develop
curricula for their classrooms.

• Spring Regatta co-sponsored with United States Naval Academy and Chesapeake

participated in this event including the Woodwind Schooners.

• There are now 2,500 items in the collection.
• Walter Cronkite sailing collection posted online.

Environmental Stewardship
• In cooperation with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the
Chesapeake Bay Foundation, distribution at the Sailing Center of information
regarding Saving the Bay.

• Co-sponsored the Third Annual City Fair at Annapolis City Dock with the City of
Annapolis.
• Hosted 2014 Leukemia Cup Kickoff Reception.
• Sponsored Summer Sailstice selfie promotion.
