We have taken over the order of St. Columban to lead it to a full spirituality in Christ.
This new rule is based upon the rule of St. Columban, who was a spiritual leader and bishop in the
ancient Celtic-Orthodox church.
The spiritual communities in the old Celtic church were not based upon restrictions within walls, they
were following the concept of the world is my monastery.
The Culdeers were following the example of Christ and his disciples by roaming through the country and
preaching the gospel in celebrating the Divine liturgy wherever they went.
Some communities settled and lived together in houses and small villages.
Some of the communities lived in celibacy, some of the communities lived as married couples, some of
the communities were male and female, but housed separately. Our world today has changed much
since those days, but still we try to follow Christ and his disciples.
So we try to adapt the concept of the world is my monastery into today’s lifestyle.
Since we understand that marriage is a vocation and does not exclude a spiritual life and a spiritual
vocation, we accept married couples and individuals into our community.

1. Es gibt nur einen allmächtigen Gott, Christus, seinen eingeborenen Sohn, den einen heiligen
Geist, eine Bibel und die Traditionen der katholischen Kirche.

the traditions of the holy catholic and apostolic church.
2. Über alles gilt der CODEX IURIS CANONIS ECCLESIAE CELTICA, in Detailfragen ergänzend der
CIC der römisch katholischen Kirche und zum Dritten die weltlichen Gesetze.
Above all rules the codex iuris Canonis ECCLESIAE CELTICA, in detail refer to the CIC of the
Roman catholic church, and third the common law.
3. Es gelten die drei evangelische Räte: Keuschheit, Armut und Gehorsam, so wie wir sie nach
der KKD interpretieren.
We obey the three evangelical counsels: chastity, poverty and obedience as defined in our
canonical law.
4. Die sieben Kardinaltugenden: Glaube, Liebe und Hoffnung und Klugheit, Gerechtigkeit,
Tapferkeit, Demut sollen dein Leben und unsere Gemeinschaft bestimmen.
The seven cardinal virtues: faith, love and hope and wisdom, justice, bravery shall guide your
life and the community.
5. Achte das Didache, so wie es uns als Orden bekannt ist, sowie alle ökumenischen Konzile.
Detailfragen erfrage beim Vater Abt oder Mutter Äbtissin.
Pay attention to the Didache, as it is known to our community, as well as all ecumenical
councils. Ask your father Abbot or your mother Abbess.
6. Es ist bei öffentlichen Gebeten bei Männern eine Albe, ein passendes Habit in braun (oder
schwarz / weiss) und ein Holzkreuz und bei Freuen eine Albe, ein weißer Schleier (Novizin) und
Albe oder ein weißer Schleier, Albe und rotes Skapulier (Schwester) oder Albe, roter Schleier
und rotes Skapulier (Priorin/Äbtissin) oder auch andere liturgische Kleidung nach KKD zu
tragen. Trage keinen unnötigen Schmuck.
At all official gatherings monks and nuns have to wear their habits: a black albe with red
cingulum and of wooden pectoral cross. The mother abbess or father Abbot carry their
episcopal staff.
7. Es ist eine kleine Tonsur (<1cm) einmal im Monat an einem Donnerstag bei allen arbeitenden
Brüdern durchzuführen. Die Ordensväter tragen aus Tradition eine Vorderkopftonsur d.h. Ohr
zu Ohr.
As sign off obedience the first Thursday of the month all monastics will get tonsured. – 1 cm of
the hair is to cut off.
Novices do not wear a habit. Proper, modest clothing is expected at all gatherings. They may
wear a wooden pectoral cross.
The novitiate may start after three months of candidacy. During this time the candidate has to
maintain close contact to the mother Abbess or the father Abbot. If the candidate fails to
comply he or she will not be accepted into the community.
The novitiate will last for six months. In this six-month period the novice will be given tasks
from the mother abbess or father Abbot and will have two maintain close contact to the
community. If the novice fails to comply, he or she will not be professed and will be laicized
again.
The profess for monks and nuns is temporary and has to be renewed every year.
Only Priests, the father Abbot or the mother abbess profess solemn.
8. Es soll ein jeder im Orden dein Bruder und deine Schwester sein, die Älteren nenne aber Vater
und Mutter. Die, die besonders enthaltsam sind, sollen von allen anerkennend „Celi De“
genannt werden. Seid diszipliniert, organisiert und methodisch in allem was ihr macht. Es wird
nicht von allen Enthaltsamkeit so verlangt.
Everybody within the community is your brother or sister, the older ones call your father and
mother. Those, who are especially chast, are known by everyone as “Celi De”.
Be disciplined, organized and methodical in everything you do. Not everybody has to live in
chastity.
9. Es soll die Leitung vom Abt und seinen 2 Prioren im Bischofsstatus über euch sein, weiterhin
die Ordensmänner und -damen, die gemäß der keltischen Kirche dem Klerus angehören und
die dienenden Novizen und Ordensbrüder und Schwestern. Folgt jenen unterwürfig, die Gott
im Amt über euch gesetzt hat.
The community is to be lead by a father Abbot or mother abbess, who are bishops. They can
appoint priors and prioresses to assist them.
Be obedient to those who God appointed to lead and guide you.
10. Die Erstwahl eines Abtes und der Priore erfolge durch Wahl des Kapitels, die Einsetzung eines
Priors danach durch Einsetzung durch den Abt. Die Wahl der späteren Kandidaten erfolge
durch das Kapitel. Vermeidet bei Wahlen Uneinigkeit und Streit.
The community elects their father Abbot or mother abbess. Avoid arguments, jealousy and
greed during the elections.
11. Gemeinsam kommen und gemeinsam gehen ist bei allen Treffen Pflicht, es sei denn das
Bedürftige und Kranke der Pflege oder aber der Ort der Vor- oder Nachbereitung bedürfen.
Der Eine trage des Anderen Last!
Come together and leave together at all gatherings. You are excepted from that rule if you
have a mission to follow.
Carry each other’s burdens!
12. Sollten Reden nötig sein, so sind sie in gegenseitiger Achtung und Kürze zu führen. Halte dich
also von Geschwätz, Lüge oder Falscheit in Worten fern. Sei freudig am Lesen und Verkünden
der Bibelworte.
Talk to each other in respect and love, do not gossip, do not bear false witness and do not
spread rumors.
Be industrious in reading and preaching the gospel.
13. Seid immer nackt also ohne Besitz in der Nachfolge Christi, tauscht die alleinige Wahrheit
gegen unnützes Weltliches Besitztum ein. Teilt euer Leben und euer Hab mit euren
Geschwistern. Wenn ihr das teilt, was ihr hier auf der Welt habt, wie viel teilt ihr denn im
Himmel? Helft Menschen in Not und folgt dadurch Christus und den Aposteln.!
Your possession is the gospel and the richness of the holy mysteries of the church. Share, what
you have, don’t be greedy and jealous. All the riches of the world won’t buy you a place in
heaven and the kingdom of God! Pray without ceasing!
14. Halte dich an die Gebote und Regel und beichte regelmäßig! Sind Bußen vom Oberen oder dir
zu verhängen, so lege mehr Wert auf Reue, Einsicht und Nachsicht, denn auf Strafe, sei
barmherzig.
Obey the rule and go to confession! If you are punished by your elders, or if you have to
punish, be sure to enforce repentance and comprehension and exercise clemency.
15. Halte Wichtiges schriftlich fest und schweige, wenn es nichts zu sagen gibt. Geistliche
Nahrung, Lehren und die Mysterien aber gib von Mund zu Ohr preis.

16. Alle sollen wenigstens einmal im Monat fasten, nämlich halbe Essensrationen. Esse selbst
weder zu viel noch zu wenig. Lege auf Kranke und Schwächliche aber keine Lasten oder
Einschränkung, ihnen gilt unsere Pflege: Liebe deinen Nächsten wie dich selbst.
About fasting:
Fasting is a spiritual way to train your spirit.
Ask year of father Abbot or mother abbess which way of fasting is a good one for you.
You can fast one day a month. The easiest way is to refrain from one of your favorite foods.
You can fast three times a week. The usual pattern is Monday (for the church), Wednesday )to
remember the poor and the needy and the lonely and the prisoners) and Friday and
rememberance of the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The easiest stage of fasting: refrain from meat
the second stage of fasting: refrain from meat and alcohol
the third stage of fasting: refrain from me, alcohol and oil.
Strict fasting is recommended during Lent.
When you eat, be modest, remember those who do not get to eat their daily bread.
17. Es soll soviel gebetet werden, wie es sinnvoll und nützlich ist. Nehme hierzu täglich dreimal
unser Brevier und die Stundengebete, wenn du es kannst. Wenn nicht: Sage besser ein
stummes Gebet aus dem Herzen, als ein lautes aus dem Mund. Bete deshalb an einem
ruhigen, privaten Ort.
About prayer:
The rule is: morning prayer and evening prayer.
You may use the brevier, pray the rosary or the Jesus prayer.
You may apply to be excepted from that rule and to practice hesychiasm.
Pray, whenever you can!
18. Verrichte drei Arbeiten am Tag, d. h., dein Tagewerk, Gebete und die Lesungen und Messen
aus unseren Büchern, es sei denn, du müsstest aus wichtigem Grunde einem den Vorzug
geben. Vater Abt oder Mutter Äbtissin dürfen dich befreien.
Every member of the community has to fulfill a mission and bring something into the
community.
Every member of the community has to write a written report about his or her mission to the
father Abbot or mother Abbess once a month.
Every member of the community has to tithe to the community and the church.
Those, who cannot tithe, have to bring skills and work into the community.
Tithing and reporting is not an option – it is a duty!
Who fails to report or tithe three-month in a row, will be suspended from the community and
will have to explain in a detailed written report, why he or she is not able to fulfill his or her
self chosen duty.
19. Die Freude am Glauben und der Ausführung soll unseren Herrn erfreuen. Doch soll die Würde
der Handlung und der Person und der Kirche gewahrt bleiben. Lebt Gottgefällig und liebt Gott,
unseren Herrn und den hl. Geist mit all eurer Kraft.
Remember, that your faith shall bring happiness to you and the Lord.
Whatever you do, do it with love, to the glory of God, for the good of thy neighbor and thyself.
20. Jedes Jahr an einem Tag sollte man nach unserer Tradition eine Nachtwache halten. Such dir
einen Tag aus, ehre ihn und diese Nacht und wiederhole dein Versprechen, so wie du es
ablegtest. Schlafe genug aber nicht zuviel, sei bereit für den Herrn!
Every year, according to our traditions, you should stay one night awake and pray, as our Lord
Jesus Christ did in the garden Gethsemane before his passion.
Suche dir eine der hohen Suchen (Peregrinatio d.h. Verlasssen der Geborgenheit) aus und
versuche das einmal in deinem Leben zu erfüllen: Das weiße Martyrium, das rote Martyrium
oder das grüne Martyrium. Sei bereit für deinen Glauben zu leben oder dein Leben
hinzugeben, vergib deinen Feinden und bete für Sie.
Pick out a mission for your life and fulfill it.
Be prepared to live for your faith!
Be prepared to die for your faith!
Forgive your enemies and pray for them!
