Research associate
The Medical Physics Group is part of the Centre of Radiology at the
Jena University Hospital and conducts interdisciplinary research in
the development of new techniques and methods in the field of
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The group consists of a dynamic
and motivated team of physicists, engineers and computer scientists.
We currently work on the creation of subject-specific threedimensional digital models of the arterial and venous blood vessel
network based on magnetic resonance images which is crucial for
planning neurosurgical interventions and quantitative analysis of the
vascular system (e.g., computer aided diagnosis).
The Medical Physics Group is immediately looking for a candidate
with successfully completed university studies in computer
sciences, physical sciences or engineering.
The research topic deals with the implementation of approaches for automated
segmentation of blood vessels based on MR images and the development of an analysis
framework. We expect you to have an interest in programming, image processing, 3D
visualization and MR imaging and to be able to quickly adapt to new subject areas and to
work independently in a team. Knowledge in image processing and programming skills (e.g.,
MATLAB, shell scripting (Bash), C++, ITK, VTK or use of Linux computer systems) as well as
excellent oral and written English skills would be advantageous.
We are looking for a scientifically curious and responsible candidate who is team oriented
and who brings flexibility, positive thinking, communication skills and enthusiasm for the
scientific work. The position is remunerated with EG 13 TV-L (75%). Initially, the contract
runs 18 months with an option for extension.
