President’s Message
Dear members, friends, and sponsors,
I would like to welcome the business ‘Shut UR Pie Hole’ to the German Society! They have entered into a rental agreement for use of the
lower kitchen.
In addition, we are working with other interested parties to also rent
the lower kitchen, and the lower hall as well.
We have also had new guests for the Thursday smorgasboard, and
Saturday breakfast & brunch, as a result of the advertising that has
occurred on the radio.
Lastly, quotes are currently being received for the demolition of
the house, now that the office has moved into the club.
The GSW board is working very hard to improve both our clubhouse,
and camp facilities, for the betterment of current and future members
and guests.
Thank you
Gary R. Rossol, CMA
GSW President

Nach dem letzten Moskito und vor dem ersten Schneesturm
treffen wir uns im Schanklokal am Mittwoch, den 14. und 28.
Oktober, wie üblich im Schanklokal um 13 Uhr.

Camp Neustadt
Dear Campers,
Another camping season is quickly coming to an end. We had a
great season with Kinderfest, fireworks, the children’s Halloween
and the Campers potluck dinner along with other various beer
tent events. Thanks to all those who were involved in organizing
and putting on these events. You really make it a great camp.
The shoreline held up well and the steps for beach access were
functional. As a reminder the water will be shut off on Thanksgiving long weekend, unless the weather forces us to shut down
earlier. Campers are reminded to close their water supply lines,
so that we have fewer issues when we turn on the water next season. Power will be turned off shortly after. Hope to see you all
at the German club during the off season!
Camp Chair, Andreas Laubstedt
Movie Night
Date: October 2, 2015
Time: 7:00 pm, doors open at 6:30
Place: Upper hall at the GSW
Cost: $0.50 per person or $2 per family
admission
Snacks and soda will be available for
purchase.
There will be face painting, games,
prizes, and two family friendly Disney movies showing on
the big screen. Young families in particular are encouraged
to attend and the kids are welcome to bring blankets and
wear their PJs if they'd like! All are welcome, members or
not, as we are trying to make young families feel welcome
to encourage potential membership at the club in younger
demographics.
The German Choir of Winnipeg
We were pleased to see the number of choir members who attended
our first meeting on September 16th - 18 people were present, and two
or three others had excused themselves, but will be back on the following Wednesday.
Our president/pianist Reinhold Pauls and our choir director Christine
Knackstedt appear to be doing everything right. There is enthusiasm
and many plans are underway. Concerts are being arranged, some for
the next few months and others a couple of years in the future
We are confident that we can continue with the present faithful singers, but we are going to need a couple of altos and tenors. Why is it so
hard to get new choir members? We have so much fun together, and
we would welcome new people. We are friendly and welcoming. Here
is your chance to make a new friend or two! Choir practice gets you out
of the house for an afternoon, it makes your mind work a little a little
harder, and, most of all, you get to sing! Who does not love music?
We meet every Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 PM, downstairs in the
basement of the GSW building. (FYI: since some people might want to
come in the later afternoon or evening, plans are underway to arrange
a second practice in the late afternoon or evening; some people who
still work could use this opportunity.) If you are interested, please call
Reinhold or Christine or any one of our members.
It has been a busy summer for many of us, and the warm weather
seems to holding on for a bit. In spite all the horror and disturbing
news that we get on our TVs or newspapers every day, we have it
pretty good here. Let's count our blessings, and be grateful for everything we have.
Until next time
