brauchten wir ein neues Konzept“, erklärt der in-akustikEntwickler Holger Wachsmann.
Dieses Konzept fand er mit dem
Hohlleiter-Prinzip. Bei jener
Bauform ist der Leiter ein
hohles Rohr und eignet sich besonders gut für hochfrequente
Signale. In abgewandelter Form
setzt Wachsmann das Konstruktionsmerkmal in die aktuellen
Modelle von in-akustik ein.
Seine Leiter sind keine echten Hohlleiter, sie bestehen aus
Litzenleitern, die sich um einen
Polyethylen-Kern winden. Dabei weisen die Produktnamen
darauf hin, wie viele Leiter ein
Modell besitzt. Beim 603 gibt
es sechs, beim 803 acht, während das 1203 auf zwölf und das
1603 auf 16 dieser Spezialleiter
zurückgreift. Diese sind jedoch
beim Bruderpaar LS 603 und
LS 803 anders konstruiert als
bei LS 1203 und LS 1603. Besitzen die Leiter des LS 603 und
LS 803 zweilagig 42 Drähte mit
dem Durchmesser von 0,2 Milli-
U
metern, sind die von LS 1203
und LS 1603 einlagig mit 17
Kupferstrippen bestückt, deren
Durchmesser 0,25 Millimeter
beträgt. So hat das LS 603 3,96
Quadratmillimeter Querschnitt,
das LS 803 5,3. Beim LS 1203
gibt es mit 4,4 mm2 dann etwas
weniger. Das LS 1603 wartet
aufgrund seiner Leiterzahl mit
5,84 mm2 auf und weist somit
auch den geringsten reinen
ohmschen Widerstand auf.
Der Aufbau mit Leitern, die
sich in wechselnder Polarität
um einen Polyethylen-Kern
winden, macht sich durch eine
niedrige Induktivität bemerkbar,
was den Widerstand in den Höhen nicht dramatisch ansteigen
lässt. Auch die recht geringe
Kapazität wird wohl keinen
Verstärker in die Bredouille
bringen.
Nicht ganz so zufrieden
waren wir aber mit der mechanischen Qualität der BFA-Hohlbananen in der Referenz-Serie.
Sie führten trotz rhodinierter
Kontaktfläche zu erhöhten
Übergangswiderständen, da die
Fläche, mit der das Kabel verschraubt wird, recht klein ist.
So empfehlen sich eher die Referenz-Kabelschuhe oder die
praktischen Schraubanschlüsse,
bei denen sich die Anschlussart
auch nachträglich zwischen
Hohlbananen, Kabelschuhen
oder Pins wechseln lässt.
Wie bei stereoplay üblich,
standen für den Hörtest neben
der Referenzanlage auch günstigere Kombinationen bereit. So
bekommt man mit, wenn ein
Kabel nur in einer Kombination
besonders gut oder schlecht
klingt.
Bei allen Konstellationen
zeigte schon das Referenz LS
603, dass es mit der alten Linie
wenig gemein hatte. Der Vergleich mit dem LS 602 (Test
3/04, 330 Euro) war schnell
durchgeführt: Der Zuwachs an
Feinzeichnung, Basskontrolle
sowie Raumdarstellung nach
dem Wechsel auf das LS 603
war so auffällig, dass man nun
wirklich nicht von einer ähnlichen Klasse reden konnte.
Da war dann eher das LS
1102 (3/04, 510 Euro) ein echter

teurere LS 1302 nicht mehr
anbieten wird.
Nochmals einen deutlichen
Klang-Sprung nach oben machte
das LS 1203. Es ließ Instrumente noch natürlicher aufspielen und betonte Stimmen
markanter. So wagte es sich ans

(2/10, 880 Euro) von HMS. Hier
gab der Herausforderer von
in-akustik nicht klein bei, sondern erkämpfte sich ein Unentschieden. Das HMS konnte
zwar die etwas angenehmeren
Obertöne präsentieren und lieferte eine schärfere Abbildung.
Das LS 1203 glich dies aber mit
mehr Schwung und Musikalität
sowie deutlicher artikulierten
Stimmen aus.
Die Krönung der neuen Kabelfamilie von in-akustik stellt
aber das 1603 dar. Es wartete
mit nochmals natürlicheren
Klangfarben auf. So war es sowohl seinem kleineren Bruder

Das 440er gab sich minimal
direkter und druckvoller, das
Referenz LS 1603 konnte aber
Forte-Passagen besser entwirren. Und bei vollem Orchestereinsatz trennten die Zuhörer die
einzelnen Instrumente des
Klangkörpers müheloser voneinander. So erkämpfte sich das
LS 1603 nicht nur einen Punktegleichstand, sondern obendrein
ein stereoplay Highlight.

Widerstandsbewegung
Bei üblichen Lautsprechern, deren Membranen durch
Schwingspulen in einem Dauermagneten zur Schallabstrahlung angeregt werden, erzeugt der durch die Schwingspule
fließende Strom die treibende Kraft. Folglich üben bei
Boxenkabeln deren Widerstand und die Serien-Induktivität
den größten Einfluss auf die Signalübertragung aus. Entwicklungsziel ist es, diese beiden Werte möglichst klein zu
halten. Je weiter unten links im Diagramm die Kurve beginnt,
desto geringer ist der Leitungs-Widerstand, und je später
sie zu steigen beginnt, desto geringer ist ihre Induktivität. Die
hohe Kunst besteht nun darin, die richtige Balance der sich
gegenseitig beeinflussenden Parameter zu finden. Dabei ist
auch noch ein dritter Wert im Auge zu behalten: die Parallelkapazität. Wird sie zu groß, belastet sie den Verstärker zusätzlich, was indirekt den Klang negativ beeinflussen kann.
Damit jedoch haben die Testkandidaten hier mit maximal
305 Pikofarad pro Meter kein Problem.

Die neue in-akustik-Kabelfamilie Referenz 03 hat es nicht
nur geschafft, die Vorgänger
zu übertrumpfen, sondern
auch neue Maßstäbe zu setzen. So glänzt schon das LS
603 mit feinnerviger Wiedergabe und noch günstigem
Preis für die handkonfektionierten Schmuckstücke. Das
wird mit einem stereoplay
Highlight belohnt. Auch das
LS 803 und das LS 1203
gehören zu den Allerbesten
ihrer Klasse. Oberhaupt der
neuen Familie ist aber das
LS 1603, welches mit sehr
natürlichen Farben malt und
so für viele, auch sehr hochwertige Ketten die richtige
Ergänzung sein kann. Daher
darf es sich nun ebenfalls
stolz stereoplay Highlight
nennen.

Family ties
German manufacturers in-akustik have invested
a lot of time in
developing their
new family of cables. Do they improve the sound?
Which cables are
the best? Stereoplay gives the answers in a world
exclusive.
“I
n order to top the audio
quality of the successful
02 cable range without a major
rise in price, we needed a new
approach,” explains in-akustik
developer Holger Wachsmann.
He found this new approach
in the hollow conductor principle. In this form of construction
the conductor is a hollow tube
and is particularly suited to high
frequency signals. Wachsmann
uses this structural characteristic in modified form in the
company’s latest cables.
His conductors are not genuine hollow conductors. Instead
they consist of stranded conductors wound around a polyethylene core. The product
names indicate the number of
conductors in each version of
the cable. The 603 has six and
the 803 eight, while the 1203
has twelve of these special conductors to call on and the 1603
sixteen. However, the sister LS
603 and LS 803 pairs are configured differently to the LS
1203 and LS 1603. While the
LS 603 and 803 conductors have
two layers of 42 wires with a
diameter of 0.2 millimetres, the
LS 1203 and 1603 have one layer of 17 copper strips of 0.25
millimetres in diameter. The
LS 603 thus has a cross section
of 3.96 square millimetres and
the LS 803 5.3. In the case of
the LS 1203, at 4.4mm2, this is
then somewhat less. Due to its
number of conductors, the LS
1603 comes up with 5.84mm2,
thus also having the lowest pure
Ohmic resistance.
A noticeable consequence of
the cable structure being made
up of conductors wound in alternating polarity around a polyethylene core is low inductance, which prevents any dramatic increase in resistance in
the high frequency range. The
very modest capacity is also
unlikely to cause any amplifier
problems.
However, we were not quite
so happy with the physical quality of the BFA plugs in the Reference series.
Despite rhodanised contact
surfaces, they caused heightened levels of contact resistance,
as the surfaces to which the cables are screwed are very small.
It is therefore advisable to use
the Reference cable lugs or
practical screw connectors, with
which it is also possible to change the type of connection retrospectively between BFA plugs,
cable lugs or pins.
As is usual for stereoplay, as
well as the reference system we
also had less expensive combinations lined up for the listening
test. In this way you notice
whether it’s only in one particular combination that a cable
sounds especially good or
bad.
In all configurations the Reference LS 603 was soon already showing that it had little in
common with the old range. The
comparison with the LS 602
(tested in March 2004; €330)
was quickly done: the increase
in subtlety, bass control and spatial imaging after switching to
the LS 603 was so striking that
it was impossible to talk of them
being in a similar league.
The LS 1102 (tested in March 2004; €510) was more of a
true rival. But here too the LS
603 created a somewhat more
subtle portrayal, sounded

heard more during quiet sections
and forte entrances came more
effortlessly. The LS 803 took on
the older LS 1302 (tested in October 2007; €660). While the 803
was not quite able to convey the
textured portrayal of the 1302,
the testers did feel that with the
interplay of the musicians the
new cable was somewhat more
spirited and coherent.
A stalemate was the end result, stereoplay understanding
why in-akustik will no longer be
selling the more expensive LS
1302.
The LS 1203 made another
clear acoustic leap forward. It
caused instruments to be reproduced more naturally and emphasised voices more distinctively. It thus dared to take on
the HMS Concertato (tested in
February 2010 and deemed a
stereoplay Highlight; €880). The
challenger from in-akustik did
not have to back down here, instead earning itself a draw.
While the HMS presented the
somewhat more pleasant treble
tones and delivered sharper imaging, the LS 1203 countered with
more zest and musicality, plus
more clearly articulated voices.
The crowning glory of inakustik’s new cable family is,
however, the 1603. It came up
with an even more natural sound.
It was thus superior both to its
smaller brother and the HMS
