PUBLIC NOTICE
REVISED FEES AND CHARGES
With effect from 01 September 2014, the following fees and charges are payable by a person (and
his/her dependant* and children up to 18 years of age**) who:

(i)
has St Helenian status and is ordinarily resident in St Helena and was present in St Helena
for a period exceeding six months; or
(ii)
is present in St Helena, has St Helenian status and can provide proof of contract of
employment for one year on St Helena; or
(iii)
is present in St Helena in fulfillment of a contract of employment directly with the St
Helena Government, of at least one year and approved by the Head of Human Resources
for the St Helena Government; or
(iv)
is a resident of the United Kingdom who requires emergency medical attention. UK
residents seeking medical treatment that is not an emergency will be required to pay the
medical fees and charges applicable to visitors to the island. Emergency medical attention
is defined as medical attention received on island and does not cover medical
evacuation off island.
(v)
has St Helenian status, is ordinarily resident on Ascension Island and on leave on St
Helena

Dependant – defined as being the spouse or life partner having been in such a
relationship for at least three months with someone who holds St Helenian status (taken from
‘Partners and Families’ on SHG website).
Proof may be required and under such
circumstances, the Health and Social Services Directorate will apply the same criteria as the
Immigration Department to determine eligibility.

Persons up to the age of 16 years and persons aged 17-18 years receive free medical
treatment if they are still in full time education
