 Shopping Mall
There is a shopping mall very near the apartment, called “CONTINENTE
Bom dia”.
You can find it easily in the way down to the subway station before the first
crossroad, on the right side you’ll see it very easily.
Inside this (small) mall you can find a supermarket, restaurants and some
shops, Pizza Hut, takeaways health food shop, laundry/drycleaners, etc.
The supermarket is open everyday, Mondays to Saturdays from 9.00 till
22.00 and on Sundays from 9.00 to 21.00.
The prices in the supermarket are good and the same you can find in the
other CONTINENTE supermarkets .
To find other bigger supermarkets “CONTINENTE”, you’ve got to go to
“COLOMBO” or “VASCO DA GAMA” Shopping Malls, referred to in the item
“Shopping” of this document. There is also one in “CASCAIS SHOPPING”,
near Cascais.

 Supermarkets
Besides "CONTINENTE", there are two other supermarkets near the
apartment:
“Pingo Doce”
Take R. Amilcar Cabral to the opposite direction of the subway (when you
leave the door, turn left), afterwards take R. Agostinho Neto till a big
Avenue called “Av. Maria Helena Vieira da Silva”. Cross this avenue and
you’ll see the supermarket. It’s a better supermarket than Modelo Bonjour.
“Lidl”
This is a German supermarket located inside the football stadium of
Alavalade, near the subway station of Campo Grande (the one you take
when going to the apartment).
When you leave the subway station to the side of the stadium, you’ll see
the supermarket. It’s worth a visit because of its very good prices and the
many products that you can’t find in other supermarkets.
 Banks
There are four banks near the apartment.
They are located, two in the end of the street “R. Manuel Marques“ and the
other one half way down that street.
There is also another bank in the ground floor of the Campo Grande subway
station.
 Telephones and Wifi
There are 7 public telephones nearby.
For most of them you must buy a card first, in any “stationary store”, to
make a call.
Some of them work with coins.
You can find one inside the Shopping Mall (card) and one on the other side
of the street, near the Shopping Mall (card).
If you go up the street from the apartment (R. Amilcar Cabral) turn first
right, you’ll see a blue box with two telephones, one card operated and the
other coin operated.
In the street of the banks - R. Manuel Marques - you’ll find another two
phones (card and coin).
Near the subway station there is another pair and inside the station there
are more.

You can easily find free wifi in the main subway stations. Campo Grande,
near the apartment, is one of them.
 Restaurants
There are several budget and medium priced restaurants around.
This is a rough guide to the cost of a meal:
(Prices in Euro)
Budget:
Mid-range:
Expensive:
5,00 to 7,50
10,00 to 22,50
25,00 plus
If you only want a place to eat something or bring at home we can
recommend “Recanto do Pantanal” shown below.
If you want a good restaurant to eat we suggest that you take the subway
and go downtown to “Casa do Alentejo”. It will take you about 25
minutes (because you must change of line), but it’s worth the trip.
“Casa do Alentejo”
R. Portas de Sº Antão, 58
1150-268 Lisboa
Telf. 21 356 92 31
Open everyday, including weekends. Lunch 12 – 3 pm and dinner 7 pm –
10 pm.
This is a restaurant belonging to Alentejo’s house, a house that represents
Alentejo in Lisbon. It’s worth going there not only by the food but also
because of the house itself. It seems you are, suddenly, in Morocco: very
big and old house, very well decorated and with lots of rooms that seems a
Morocco house.
Very good food with typical Portuguese dishes, mainly from Alentejo. It was
a quiet restaurant some years ago, because it was not very known, even
among Portuguese people. Now it’s already very known and not so quiet.
Mid-range restaurant.
Subway – Restauradores
Very near Restauradores and Rossio. When you leave the subway, facing
Rossio, take R. do Jardim do Regedor on your left side, a very short street.
In the end of this street you’ll see a Western Union agent (big yellow
panel). Next to it is the “Casa do Alentejo” door.
“Continente Bom dia” Shopping Mall (near the apartment)
With two restaurants inside and so nearby you are sure never to go hungry!
“Recanto do Pantanal”, a Brazilian restaurant.

Located in front of the supermarket. Select what you want and pay at the
till. You can eat in or take away. We have already been there several times
and we think it’s worth a visit.
The other restaurant is located near the entrance of the Shopping Mall, on
the left hand side. On the right you have “Pizza Hut”.
Another restaurant is:
“Churrasqueira do Campo Grande”
Campo Grande nº 402/10
1700 Lisboa
21 757 08 25
Medium priced restaurant
About 10 minutes walk from the apartment.
It’s in front of the subway station but the entrance is from Campo Grande
garden side. The information we have about this restaurant is not very
good, concerning the kindness of the people working there.
There is another restaurant near the subway station called:
“Dourado“
Budget to mid range priced restaurant.
It may be useful if you are in a hurry or are watching the pennies!
There’s another small restaurant near the Travel Agency called:
“A Passagem”
R. José Galhardo
Budget restaurant/snack-bar. We don’t have any information about this
place.
 Pharmacies
There is a pharmacy near the Shopping Mall “Galerias Lambert”.
On the other side of the street R. Manuel Marques, you can easily locate it,
with its distinctive green cross, in R. Pedro Bandeira. (Near the telephone)
 Travel Agency
Copyright©1999-2014 Fernando Costa
6/46
Flat Rental in Lisbon - Portugal
There is a travel agency called “Raitur” a bit further on, in the street
running perpendicular to the one with the pharmacy on it, called R. José
Galhardo.
 Convenience Shop
Alameda das Linhas de Torres, 68 (about 10 minutes walk from the
apartment)
Find the main street “Alameda das Linhas de Torres”, turn right. After a few
meters you will find number 68.
Open 8 am till 2 am, everyday including weekends.
Subway – Campo Grande
 What to see in Lisbon
 Introduction
Here are some of our thoughts about what to see in Lisbon, just in a few
words , because you can easily read a lot in all the guides about this city.
You can be interested in visiting the:
“Lisbon Meeting Point Welcome Center”
This is a very nice place to visit, where you can rest, ask everything about
Lisbon, get Lisbon maps, get all the cultural Lisbon activities, access the
Internet (prices are a bit expensive) and much more.
There is a restaurant, a gallery, cigar and grocery shops, handicraft, etc.
It is located in “Terreiro do Paço”, in Baixa, near the river. Take the subway
to “Baixa-Chiado” and walk a bit in the direction of the river. When you get
to a big square, it is located on the right side, facing the river.
Open between 9 am and 9 pm.
Tel.: 21 031 27 00
e-mail: [email protected]
www.atl-turismolisboa.pt
“Lisbon’s Central Tourist Info Center”
It’s located in Palácio Foz, Restauradores, subway Restauradores, open 9
am till 8 pm. Ask for their agenda: “Agenda mensal”. It lists all theatrical,
musical, arts and children’s events for the month.
You’d better off purchasing a 7 day “Passe Turistico” which enables one to
use the subway, bus and trams. Bring your passport.

It’s worth to get it. It can be purchased at Campo Grande or Rossio station.
To check the prices go to “Public Transport”.
Tourist Information Free Call – 800 296 296
You can use this number to call from this apartment and you can choose the
language you wish.
 Castelo de S. Jorge
A beautiful view to Lisbon and to the river.
It’s worth a visit.
Take the subway to Baixa-Chiado and take the tram nº 28 in R. da
Conceição, till Miradouro de Santa Luzia, where you have a beautiful view to
the river. Walk through the narrow streets to the castle.
If you prefer to go directly to the castle, take the bus nº 37 in Praça da
Figueira.
If you enjoy Portuguese trams, you can take the tram nº 28 to see the old
quarters of Lisbon. It passes very nice places and many tourists rnjoy the
ride, just watch your wallet (pick pockets).
 Alfama and Bairro Alto
The two old famous quarters of Lisbon.
They are worth a visit.
You can see very old houses and lots of small restaurants and bars.
 Belém
Very nice place near the river and with some monuments worth visiting.
Don’t forget to visit the very famous bakery, near Mosteiro dos Jerónimos,
where “Pasteis de Belém” are sold. They are very good cookies, with lots
of cream inside - they make the best in town.
 Parque das Nações
The area where Expo 98 took place.
It’ worth a visit. Very nice place to walk.
You can still see some pavilions of Expo 98.

Located here also is one of the biggest aquariums in the world. It’s beautiful
and worth a visit.
There is also a brand new Shopping Center “Vasco da Gama”. Very
modern, with lots of shops and a big supermarket “Continente”.
Take the green line till Alameda and change to the red line. Get off at
Oriente (the end). You have reached Parque da Nações.
 Alcântara
There are several restaurants and bars near the river in this area. It’s nice
to sit back and relax with a cool drink on a hot day watching the world go
by
 Nice and cheap Lisbon trips



Take the tram nº 28 in Baixa. It will take you through the nice and
historic Lisbon blocks.
For a good city ride by bus take nº 50 from Campo Grande to Algés.
It takes you through many Lisbon suburbs. From Algés take tram E15
back to town.
Take a day trip to the Jesus Statue (Cristo Rei) on the other side of
the river. Subway to Cais do Sodré. Boat to the other side of the
river, called Cacilhas. Bus nº 101 to Cristo Rei. The place and view
are just stunning.
 Lisbon from a boat
If you’d like to see Lisbon from the river, I suggest you take a boat trip on
the “Cacilheiros” (because of the name of “Cacilhas”, one of the places you
can visit). You can go either to Cacilhas, Porto Brandão, Trafaria, Barreiro,
Alcochete, Montijo or Seixal, all on the other side of the river.
Cachilhas is a good trip if you don’t have much time (shorter trip). Maybe
have lunch in one of the multitude of restaurants in this quiet timeless
place. Trafaria is a bit nicer if you have time
To go to Cacilhas you must catch the boat at Praça do Comércio or Cais do
Sodré (end of the subway line). To go to Trafaria you must catch it in
Belém.
During the high season (April – September) you can take a more interesting
(and expensive!) boat trip in one of the many “tourist vessels”.
To buy the tickets you must go to Terreiro do Paço Station.
Here is an idea of what to expect –lifted from one of their brochures.

 Lisbon by train
If you would like to see Lisbon from another angle, you can take the train
that crosses the river over the bridge “Ponte 25 de Abil” – the old bridge
similar to Golden Gate Bridge, in S. Francisco.
Take the train in the subway station “Entre Campos” (Yellow line). There is
a direct connection between the subway station and the train station.
 “Elevators”
The Portuguese refer to these as elevators, but they are really Trams, you
are permanently at an angle as you climb up steep routes. The ride is short,
but the hill is steep and it’s an experience. There are three in Lisbon and I
think they are worth a ride, at least one of them.
“Elevador da Glória”
It was inaugurated on October 24th, 1885. The lenght of the track is 265
meters and the gradient is 18%.
Runs from the Calçada da Glória on the west side of the Praça dos
Restauradores and takes you up to the Bairro Alto. Once you arrive at the
top, walk to the right to a park. From this park you have an excellent view
of the Baixa, the lower part of town and a good view of St. George’s Castle
and the Alfama.
“Elevador do Lavra”
On the east side of Praça dos Restauradores is the Elevador do Lavra.
It was inaugurated on April 19th, 1884. It was designed as a rack railway
driven by water displacement. On January 3rd, 1910, a plan for
electrification was submitted to the municipal authorities. About 837 000
passengers travel by the elevator annually. The length of track is 188
meters, the gradient is 17% and each carriage weighs 19 tons.
This elevator takes you up to an area of the city called Anjos. There is
another small park here – the Jardim do Torel. This park provides you with
a magnificent view of the Baixa and the Bairro Alto.
“Elevador da Bica”

10/46
Flat Rental in Lisbon - Portugal
It was inaugurated on June 28th, 1892. The carriages on this funicular are
built in the form of three-step stairways, like Floibanen in Bergen, Norway.
This elevator is not very known but it will be useful for you if you are near
Cais do Sodré and want to go to Bairro Alto. It begins at R. de S. Paulo and
ends at Largo do Calhariz. You are now in Bairro Alto.
 Fado houses
Fado is the most traditional song of Lisbon. In this section you will find the
names of some of the fado houses in the city. The great majority of them
asks for a fee, called “minimum consumption”, indicated below each name.
The fado houses offer, meals, fado moments, sung and played by
professional artists. I don’t know, personally, any of these houses. I took
them from another page about Lisbon. Prices may well have changed.
If you are just curious about how Fado sounds you can listen to it for free,
during the day and on the street. Actually there is a disc shop in “Baixa”
called “Discoteca Amália” that plays fado CD’s during the whole day. It’s
located in R. do Ouro 270, near Rossio.

 What to see outside of Lisbon and how to get there
If you want to see something outside of Lisbon, I’ll give you some tips about
two places where you can go comfortably, without a car.
If you have a car, there are many you can visit!
 Without a car
 Cascais and Estoril
Nice places to take a day off.
Take the green line of the subway to the end stop, Cais do Sodré.
Here you take the train to Estoril/Cascais.
Nice trip, near the coast. It will take about one hour.
If you want a very good restaurant in Cascais you can go to APEADEIRO.
It’s a mid range restaurant, with a big variety of fresh fish. It is located near
Cidadela fortress, not faraway from the center, the cost and the beach of
Cascais.
Address:
Av. Vasco da Gama, 252 2750-509 Cascais
Tel 214 832 731
Go to the garden in front of MUSEU DO MAR and take the Av. Vasco da
Gama from there, in the opposite side of the museum.
If you would like to visit a very big and famous shopping center called
“Cascais Shopping”, you must take a taxi from Cascais, which will cost
you about 5,00 Euro. You can also take a bus from “SCOTTURB”, numbers
406, 417 or 418.
“Guincho”
Copyright©1999-2014 Fernando Costa
12/46
Flat Rental in Lisbon - Portugal
You can go to a very nice place called “Guincho” (described in the item
“With a car”) with bikes. You can borrow bikes in Cascais, in front of the
“Cidadela” fortress, near “Marina de Cascais”. They are free (you must
leave your passport and write your address in Portugal). There is a special
trail that you take to get a beautiful beach. There are three beaches in
Guincho. The trip is well worthwhile into this wild and spectacular region.
The only problem is that, this is a very windy area, pack a light sweater.
You also can reach this place by bus from “Scotturb”, numbers 405 and
415.
 Sintra
A very nice village, with beautiful views, gardens and palaces to visit.
Take a day to go there and investigate all there is to see.
Take the subway, yellow and blue lines till Restauradores.
There you can find the Railway Station where the train leaves for Sintra,
which is the last stop on the line. Takes an hour to get there.
You can see the village and its monuments and wander in the lovely
gardens, but don’t forget to take the tourist bus to visit the monuments in
the mountains: “Castelo dos Mouros” and “Palácio da Pena”. It’s a
must.
 Other places
There is a big transport center near the apartment (5 minutes), right in
front of the subway station. So, if you have time and would like to leave the
city for a day or two, this is the best way to get the most out of your visit to
Portugal.
There are buses to lots of places, all of them located in the North of Lisbon.
I would suggest three nice fisherman villages, with good beaches: Ericeira,
Peniche and Nazaré. Ericeira is the nearest one and Nazaré is the most
faraway from Lisbon. You simply purchase the ticket from the driver on the
bus.
Some other places that you can visit:
Torres Vedras, Malveira, Sta. Cruz, Cadaval, Mafra, Malveira, Fátima, Leiria,
Santarém, Alcobaça, Leiria, Tomar, Caldas da Raínha, Rio Maior, etc.
“SCOTTURB”
This is a bus company that runs routes to Cascais, Sintra, Cabo da Roca,
etc.
Copyright©1999-2014 Fernando Costa
13/46
Flat Rental in Lisbon - Portugal
Check their site for timetables, etc: www.scotturb.com
You can reach very nice places (starting from Cascais), described in the
item “What to see with a car”, with these buses:
Guincho, Cabo da Roca, Colares, Sintra, Praia Grande, Azenhas do Mar,
Praia do Magoito, etc.
 With a car
Arrábida Natural Park
It’s a very nice Natural Park with mountains and beautiful views to the sea,
located in the South of Lisbon, near Setúbal.
Take a whole day to get there and back to make the most of this
spectacular journey.
Go to the other side of the river through “Ponte Vasco da Gama”, otherwise
you’ll be stuck in the traffic jams for a long time.
Take the “2ª Circular”, direction North Highway - Autoestrada do Norte A1”
and Ponte Vasco da Gama.
You’ll see signs to the bridge.
Go till Setúbal.
Visit the town, especially the area near the river.
There are two very good restaurants here, specializing in grilled fish.
 One near the football stadium of Bonfim. You’ll need to ask directions. As
far as we remember, it doesn’t have any sign outside saying it’s a
restaurant. It’s such a huge place that everybody knows where it is. You
can’t miss seeing the fish is grilled in the middle of the room.
 The other restaurant is located near the bullfighting ring/stadium. It’s a
very small restaurant called “Verde e Branco”.
In Setúbal it’s worth a visit to the castle.
It’s outside the center, head in the direction of Sesimbra and on the way to
Arrábida. There’s a beautiful view from up there, to Setúbal, Troia and
Arrábida.
You have two options:
Copyright©1999-2014 Fernando Costa
14/46
Flat Rental in Lisbon - Portugal
 Visit the top of “Serra da Arrábida” (Arrábida mountain) first: take the
road on the right just a few kilometers after Setúbal, that lead to a road
almost parallel to the road near the coast, but that is in the top of the
mountain. You’ve got to come back to Setúbal by the coast, if you want
to see the beaches.
 Visit the beaches first: The best beach, in our opinion, is Portinho da
Arrábida. If you don’t have much time just head to the mountain first
and spend some time on this beach later, which is near the end of the
road you take to go up.
After Portinho da Arrábida go to Sesimbra, where you can see the beach,
the village and the castle. Nice places to visit and good view from the
castle. Then take the road to Cabo Espichel, where you’ll find a beautiful
sightseeing and a very old monument. . The scenery is rough and ruggard
but also very beautiful.
If you would like to see more beaches you can visit, in the way back to
Lisbon, “Praia do Meco” - in the north of Cabo Espichel – a famous escape in
Summer for the nudists.
You also can visit Lagoa de Albufeira.
The beaches from Fonte da Telha to Costa da Caparica aren’t, in our
opinion, particularly nice. Costa da Caparica is very crowded in the summer.
(sardines spring to mind!)
Cabo da Roca - Ericeira - Mafra
You can go to Cascais, either by the “Marginal” (road near the coast), or by
the highway.
After Cascais you should see Guincho, a huge beautiful windy beach,
famous for surfing.
If it’s time for a meal, you have two options in this area.
Besides several extremely good restaurants near Guincho beach (the only
problem is the extremely high bill ),here are two very good restaurants
much better priced for what you get.
One is the first restaurant you see when you leave Guincho, direction
Malveira da Serra. After you leave the beach, you take a tree lined road
and you’ll see a restaurant on the left hand side:
“O Púcaro“

Flat Rental in Lisbon - Portugal
After the meal, if you feel you can drive, leave Malveira da Serra head in
the direction of “Cabo da Roca”, onto a nice road on the hill, with a
beautiful sightseeing along the coast.
In this area there are also two restaurants that are cheaper than the ones
already mentioned. They are located in a place called “Areia”. When you are
driving from Guincho to Malveira da Serra, just as the beach disappears,
you will see a cross road indicating “Areia” to the right. In this village, which
is very near, there are two cheap restaurants called “O Correio” and

When you see the sign on the right, leave the main road and go to “Cabo
da Roca”, the most occidental point in Europe. Nice view and it’s worth a
visit.
Leave direction Colares and then take direction “Praia das Maçãs”. Turn
left before that beach and visit “Praia Grande”.
After visiting both beaches go on north and visit a place called “Azenhas
do Mar”. A nice place to see but with no beach. Although, you can go down
the stairs and dip in the water.
If you have time visit the beaches of S. Julião and Lizandro. End your trip
in Ericeira, a very nice village with beaches and interesting places to visit.
If you feel like taking a drive inland and impressive monuments then you
should visit the monastery at Mafra.

As many of our guests like to visit Fátima, we can suggest a nice and cheap
place to stay there for one or more nights.
“A Casa dos Capuchinhos” is a hotel, belonging to a religious
organization called “Ordem dos Frades Menores Capuchinhos” that has
small hotels in different places of Portugal.
The hotel is located very near the Fátima’s Sanctuary, about 250 m, it
has 50 rooms with bathroom and they supply good meals at a very good
price.
The rooms are simple and clean and the food is good and in generous
quantity.
Prices – May 2005
1 night with breakfast included – 15 € per person
One complete meal – 10 €

COLOMBO Shopping Mall
If you like shopping or if you want to save yourself money at the better
priced large supermarkets, you must go to Colombo, the largest Shopping
Mall in Portugal and Spain and the second largest in Europe.
There you’ll find plenty of Portuguese and international shops and
“Continente”, a large supermarket.
Here’s some of the most important shops you can find there:
C & A; Marks & Spencer; FNAC; WORTEN; VOBIS; Toy’s r us; AKI; Plenty of

Feira da Ladra (Flea Market)
The market is held every Tuesday morning and Saturday. “Feira da Ladra”
literally means “Thieves Fair”; however, most people are selling their own
belongings and household goods. Also on sale are Bric à Brac, military
artifacts, clothing and antique books. Best to go early for bargains, antiques
and retrieving stolen property!

Concerning restaurants, we suggest “Casa do Alentejo” in the first place.
Besides it’s a good and central restaurant it’s open everyday.
“Casa do Alentejo”

Quiet
restaurant, because it’s not very known, even among Portuguese people.

Tel. 21 342 28 22
It was recommended by one of our guests. Very good food from around the
world.
We don’t have information about prices.
“ Mercado da Ribeira”
This a very nice and typical Lisbon market, located in Av. 24 de Julho, near
Cais do Sodré. This is a famous place among people living in Lisbon, not
only because of what you can buy there during the day, but also because
you can drink hot chocolate the whole night till morning.
At least, between May and end September, it’s possible to have dinner in
the first floor with Portuguese music:

 Taxis
Last updated June 2007
Take care with the Portuguese taxis.
Most of the times they will try to cheat you.
As soon as you get in, check:
 If the meter is visible. If not ask for it or leave the cab.
 There should be a set charge already on the meter, depending on the
time of day (this is called “bandeirada”)
3,25 - 6.00 am till 09.00 pmfrom Monday till Friday.
2,50 - 09.00 pm till 6.00 am and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
(the trip will be 20% more expensive)
Don’t believe them too much if they say they don’t know where the place is
you want to go. It helps if you have a map visible so the taxi driver can’t
drive you round in circles without you knowing.
If you have luggage transported on the roof-rack or in the boot you must
pay extra, besides what is shown, 1,60. But they must write it in the meter,
which, most of the times they don’t do, so that they can keep the money for
themselves.
If the service was hired by telephone, mobile-phone or radio-taxi center,
you’ve got to pay 0,80 extra.
If you feel you paid too much, or if you had any problem with them, ask for
a receipt, which should show:
 Registration number of the vehicle, printed or stamped.
 Where the journey began and ended, date, time and fare for the
service rendered, with IVA (VAT) included.

 Pickpockets and Thieves
Take care! We had one guest that was robbed in the tram nº 28 (tram
frequented mainly by tourists)
Be on your guard and take the usual precautions. Be especially careful in
Baixa and Marquês de Pombal just like buses, trams and subway.
Usually, in buses, trams and subway, a gang will operate like this:
 They can be between 2 and 10 men.
 They are waiting at the stops just like you. They choose the crowded
buses and trams and they are the last ones to get inside.
 They tend to be middle aged, casually dressed and are spread throughout
the Carriage.
 Inside the bus they choose the victim. One of them picks the pocket and
pass it immediately to another. Afterwards, once you realize something
has been stolen, it’s impossible to know who it was.
Worst trams: nº 15 and nº 28
Worst areas of Lisbon:
 Fontes Pereira de Melo (big avenue between Saldanha and Marquês
de Pombal), mainly near Marquês de Pombal.
 Cais do Sodré (near the river)
 Avenida da República (big avenue between Entre Campos e
Saldanha)
 Avenida da Liberdade (Marquês de Pombal – Restauradores)
 Rossio

Flat Rental in Lisbon - Portugal
 Wifi in the main subway stations, restaurants, coffee shops.
“Portugal Telecom Shops”
These are good and cheap places to surf: 30 minutes – 1,5 Euro. Some of
them can be too crowded.
Yon can find these shops in three areas in Lisbon:
“Picoas Plaza” – A Shopping Center near Sheraton Hotel
R. Viriato, Loja C.05
Subway – Picoas, in the yellow line
“Colombo” – The biggest shopping center in Lisbon
Subway – Colégio Militar, in the blue line
“Rossio” – There is a PT shop near “Farmácia Estácio”, Rossio, nº 68.
Facing the “D. Maria Theater”, on the left side
Subway – Restauradores, in the blue line
Usually, this shop is crowded.
“Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações”
R. do Instituto Industrial, 16, 1200-225 Lisboa
Tel.: 21 393 51 06/7/8
Subway: Cais Sodré
This is a great place to visit. There is a museum of the communications and
a huge room where there is a restaurant and lots of computers. You don’t
have to buy something to eat or drink to surf the Internet.
This is the cheapest place I know. 1,75/1 hour, 0,87/30 minutes.
Monday till Friday – 10.00 – 20.00
Saturday – 14.00 – 20.00
If you are near the river it’s very easy to get there. Leave the subway
direction Belem. You are in Avenida 24 Julho. Cross the street and take the
one that is parallel to this big avenue called Rua D. Luis I. Walk about 200
meters (direction Belem) and you’ll find R. do Instituto Industrial, which
crosses R. D. Luis I.
The advantage of this place is that it is not very well known, which means
access to lots of computers anytime! On the other handone side it’s not a
very central and known place and, on the other hand, they have lots of
computers. Besides it’s cheap!
“Park of the Nations - Pavilhão do Conhecimento (Knowledge
Pavilion)”
In this Pavilion, there is a huge place where you can stay as long as wish
and you pay nothing. However, you must pay 4,50 Euro to visit the pavilion,
which can be worth.
From 10.00 am till 6.00 pm.
Closed on Mondays.
