Unsere soziale Verantwortung
Mit dem Import von Kaffee, Kakao und Zucker gründeten
wir 1992 das Fair Trade Projekt HAND IN HAND.
HAND IN HAND steht für fairen Handel mit ausschliesslich
ökologischen Produkten, langfristige Handelsbeziehungen,
garantierte Abnahmepreise, aktive Unterstützung der
Bauern durch qualifizierte Beratung und Förderung
gemeinnütziger Projekte in den Ursprungsländern. Über
den HAND IN HAND-Fonds werden 1% des Einkaufswertes
der HAND IN HAND-Rohstoffe für soziale oder ökologische
Projekte in den Erzeugerländern verwendet.
Im Gegenzug garantieren uns die HAND IN HAND-Partner
die soziale Absicherung der Mitarbeiter, menschenwürdige
Arbeitsbedingungen, Verbot von Kinderarbeit und absolute
Transparenz in der Produktion.
Wir arbeiten neben Kooperativen und Bauerngemeinschaften auch mit Exportfirmen zusammen.
Verwaltet wird der Fonds von der deutschen
Umwelthilfe e.V. (DUH).
Alle 2 Jahre werden wir und unsere HAND IN HAND Partner
auf die Einhaltung der festgeschriebenen Kriterien von
einer unabhängigen Stelle kontrolliert.
Das HAND IN HANDSiegel wurde von uns
entwickelt, um Produkte
zu kennzeichnen, die mindestens zu 50% aus Rohstoffen von unseren HAND IN HANDPartnern stammen.

Our social responsibility
We founded the Fair Trade project HAND IN HAND in 1992
with the importing of coffee, cocoa and sugar.
HAND IN HAND stands for fair trade involving only ecologically-friendly products, with long-term trading relationships, guaranteed purchasing prices, active assistance to
the farmers in the form of expert advice and support for
community projects in the countries of origin. Through the
HAND IN HAND fund, 1% of the purchase value of the HAND
IN HAND raw products are used for social or ecological
projects in the producing countries. In return, the HAND IN
HAND partners guarantee social security for their employees, humane working conditions, the prohibition of child
labour and absolute transparency in production.
As well as working together with cooperatives and farmers’
groups, we also work with exporters.
The fund is administered by deutsche Umwelthilfe e.V.
(DUH).
Every 2 years, we and our HAND IN HAND partners are
audited by an independent body to ensure that the stipulated criteria are fulfilled.

A far-sighted pioneer
Aus einer Vision ist in rund 30 Jahren ein Unternehmen
gewachsen, das weltweit zu den größten Anbietern und
Verarbeitern für biologische Lebensmittel zählt. 240
Mitarbeiter beschäftigt Rapunzel heute am Hauptstandort
in Legau im Allgäu. 1989 eröffnete unser Büro in Izmir.
Im Jahre 1991 wurde in Avignon Rapunzel France gegründet, 1996 die Tochterfirma Pure Organic in den USA.
1997 kamen Rapunzel Türkei und Rapunzel Iberica hinzu.
Mit einer Produktpalette von mehr als 400 Artikeln sind
wir mit der Marke Rapunzel Marktführer am nationalen
Naturkostmarkt. Nahezu die Hälfte der Produkte werden
an unserem deutschen Standort in Legau produziert. Auch
heute fühlen wir uns noch dem ursprünglichen Gedanken
verpflichtet, alle Produkte so schonend und so wenig
verarbeitet wie möglich herzustellen.

motivation behind the idea of selling organically-grown
foodstuffs from controlled sources.
From the vision of three friends, the company has grown
over 30 years or so to become one of the biggest suppliers
and processors of organic foodstuffs worldwide. With a
product range of more than 400 articles we are, with
the Rapunzel brand, the market leader in the German
wholefoods market. Almost half the products are produced
at our German plant in Legau. Today too, we still remain
committed to the original principle of producing all our
products as naturally and with as little processing as possible.

For us, modern standards and flexible production quantities
are not mutually exclusive - despite modern equipment, for
example our nut spread plant, smaller production quantities

Anbau und Import von Rohstoffen in Bio-Qualität
Cultivation and importing of raw products
in organic quality
Von Aprikosen bis zum Zucker:
Seit mehr als 30 Jahren importieren, handeln und
verarbeiten wir Rohstoffe aus aller Welt.
Spezialisiert ist RAPUNZEL auf den Import verschiedenster
Rohwaren, aber auch Produkte aus europäischen Ländern
oder der heimischen Landwirtschaft können
über unsere Rohstoffabteilung bezogen
werden. Wichtig ist uns immer eines: die
intensive Handelsbeziehung zu den einzelnen
Bauern und Lieferanten, vor allem in strukturschwachen Ländern. Die sozialen RahmenbeBasilikumanbau dingungen, ökologischer Anbau und eine faire
Basil crop
und stabile Preisgestaltung sind Kriterien, die
wir unserer Arbeit zugrunde legen.
Aus intensiven Handelsbeziehungen sind einzelne Projekte
gewachsen: so unser Türkei-Projekt. Seit dem Jahr 1985
bewirtschaften rund 650 Bauern eine Gesamtfläche von
ca. 4.200 Hektar nach den Kriterien des kontrolliert
biologischen Anbaus. Insgesamt werden für uns in der
Türkei über 20 verschiedene Produkte angebaut. Aus
unserem andalusischen Projekt stammen Demeter
zertifizierte Oliven und Mandeln, Kokos beziehen wir
von unserem Projekt aus Sri Lanka.
Handelsware
Wo immer es möglich ist, wird Ware aus unseren Projekten
oder von langjährigen Rohstofflieferanten verwendet. Auch
andere zugekaufte Waren entsprechen immer höchster
Bio-Qualität und anerkannter Zertifizierung.

For over 30 years we have been importing, selling and
processing raw products from all around the world.
RAPUNZEL specialise in importing an extremely wide range
of raw products, but products from European countries or
from domestic production can also be
obtained through our raw products
department. One thing is always important
to us: the close trading relationship with the
individual farmers and suppliers, especially in
structurally-weak countries. The social
background conditions, ecologically-friendly
farming methods and fair and stable prices are

Close trading relationships have given rise to individual projects: for example our project in Turkey. Since 1985, around

Rückverfolgbarkeit bei jedem Lieferant
Traceability with each supplier
Qualitätskontrolle
Der intensive Kontakt zu Herstellern und eine partnerschaftliche Zusammenarbeit mit unseren Rohstofflieferanten ist Grundprinzip der Qualitätssicherung bei
RAPUNZEL. Dazu gehören regelmäßige Lieferantenaudits
und die ständige Kontrolle der Anbaubedingungen und
Produktionsprozesse durch unsere Agraringenieure vor
Ort. Dabei ist die Identifikation möglicher Schadstoffquellen nur ein Kriterium. Schon vor Anlieferung der
Ware in unserem Produktionsstandort werden Muster
der Ware von unseren Lebensmittelingenieuren und
-technikern beprobt und analysiert. Dabei werden rund
250 - 400 unterschiedliche Parameter, z.B. Pestizide und
Schwermetalle analysiert.
Lückenlose Rückverfolgbarkeit
Um eine lückenlose und sorgfältige Kontrolle gewährleisten zu können, trägt jede Ware bereits ab Anbau,
während des Transports und in der Verarbeitung eine
eigene Lotnummer. Anhand dieser Nummer lässt sich
die Ware bis zum Anbauer und Feld zurückverfolgen.
Die von uns produzierten und
abgepackten Produkte werden
von der Kontrollstelle ABCERT
kontrolliert und erhalten
die Nummer DE-006-ÖkoKontrollstelle.

IFS International Food Standard
Zur Vereinheitlichung der Kriterien für Eigenmarkenproduzenten hat der deutsche Einzelhandel den IFSInternational Food Standard entwickelt. Ziel ist es, in
Zukunft mehr Transparenz, Sicherheit und Hygiene
innerhalb der Lebensmittelkette zu erzeugen.
Die Struktur des IFS ist kompatibel zu der DIN EN
9001:2000. Festgelegt und überprüft werden unter
anderem die Anforderungen an das Qualitätsmanagement
nach den Kriterien des HACCP-Systems (Hazard Analysis
Crititical Control Point), das Ressourcenmanagement unter
anderem nach der Lebensmittelhygieneverordnung oder
der Herstellungsprozess mit den detaillierten Anforderungen an Betriebsräume. Der Umgang mit Lebensmitteln,
Rohstoffen und Verpackungsmaterialien, aber auch Abfallmanagement und Schädlingsmonitoring werden dabei
berücksichtigt.
Die RAPUNZEL NATURKOST AG bereitet zur Zeit die
Akkreditierung nach IFS Standard vor.
Quality control
The fundamental principle behind quality assurance at
RAPUNZEL is our close contact with producers and cooperation on a partnership basis with suppliers of raw products.
This includes regular supplier audits and continuous monitoring of cultivation conditions and production processes
by our local agricultural experts. The identification of possible sources of toxic substances is only one criterion here.
Even before the products are delivered to our production
facility, samples of the products are tested and analysed by
our food scientists and technicians. Around 250 - 400 different parameters, e.g. pesticides and heavy metals, are
analysed.
Continuous traceability
In order to guarantee complete and careful control, each
product carries its own batch number, right from the cultivation stage, during transport and through processing. On
the basis of this number, the product can be traced back to
the farmer and field of origin. The products which are produced and packaged by us are checked by the certifier
ABCERT and are given the number DE-006-ÖkoKontrollstelle.
IFS International Food Standard
In order to standardise the criteria for own-brand producers, the German retail trade has developed the IFS
International Food Standard. The aim is to create more
transparency, safety and hygiene within the foodstuffs
chain in future. The structure of the IFS is compatible with
DIN EN 9001:2000. Among other things, requirements
relating to quality management according to the criteria of
the HACCP system (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point),
to resource management according to the food hygiene
ordinance, among others, or to the production process,
with detailed requirements in terms of production facilities,
are defined and monitored. The handling of foodstuffs, raw
products and packaging materials, but also waste management and pest monitoring are taken into consideration.
RAPUNZEL NATURKOST AG are at present preparing for
accreditation in accordance with the IFS standard.

Schonende Verarbeitung unserer hochwertigen BioRohstoffe hat nicht nur Tradition, sondern wirkt sich
auch auf die Qualität unserer Produkte aus. Zum Beispiel
werden die Nüsse für unsere
Nussmuse mit einer schonenden
Heißluftröstung immer frisch vor der
Verarbeitung geröstet. Alle Speiseöle
werden Hitzezufuhr während des
Pressvorgangs gewonnen und ohne
chemische Hilfsstoffe hergestellt.

Mineralien und der Verzicht auf synthetische Zusätze,

Optimaler Produktschutz
Ob Schlauchbeutel, Standbeutel oder Papiertüte –
optimaler Produktschutz steht bei uns an oberster
Stelle. So ist es zum Beispiel möglich, Schlauchbeutel
mit Stickstoff, den wir hier vor Ort gewinnen, zu begasen.
Bei der Abfüllung von Ölen kann der Restsauerstoff in
der Flasche, der eine Oxidation bewirkt, durch Stickstoff
ausgetauscht werden.
Anfällige Rohware wird vor der Verarbeitung in einer CO2
Druckkammer bei 6-30 bar behandelt, um auf natürliche
Weise einem Schädlingsbefall vorzubeugen.
Verpackung und Produktdesign
Ob Flaschen, Gläser, Klotzboden- oder Schlauchbeutel,
wir unterstützen Sie kompetent bei der Auswahl der
optimalen Verpackung für Ihr Produkt. Ebenso übernehmen

Im Jahr 2003 haben wir in Bad Grönenbach (direkt an der A7) unser neues
Logistikzentrum in Betrieb genommen. Auf einer Fläche von 7500 m2 bietet
das vollautomatische Hochregallager Platz für 12.000 Paletten. Optimale
Lagerung der Ware ist in drei Klimazonen bei 4, 10 und 15 °C möglich.
An acht LKW-Rampen wird der Warenein- und -ausgang abgewickelt. Die

individuellen logistischen Ansprüche unserer Kunden versuchen wir
umzusetzen, so ist zum Beispiel durch den EAN Code 128 eine lückenlose
Rückverfolgbarkeit der Ware gewährleistet.
Logistics solutions
In 2003 we commissioned our new logistics centre in Bad Grönenbach (directly
adjacent to the A7). With an area of 7500 m2, this fully-automated high-bay
warehouse has space for 12,000 pallets. Optimum storage of the products is
possible in three climate zones at 4, 10 and 15 °C. Inbound and outbound shipments are handled at eight HGV loading bays. We try to implement the individual logistical requirements of our customers; for example, continuous traceability of the products is guaranteed through the use of the EAN code 128.
