Poinsettia are true “Magic Stars”. From Helsinki to Palermo and from
Lisbon to Athens, in all places they are an essential part of the
Christmas culture in Europe. Poinsettia grow in different climate
zones and under various conditions. To ensure that this succeeds we
at Selecta have been breeding Poinsettia varieties for three decades
in order to offer the growers in all regions of Europe and the world
optimal varieties. In a nutshell, we have “competence in red”.
Every nice Poinsettia begins its journey around the world as a freshly
harvested, healthy cutting at our motherplant sites in Uganda. Mainly
this relation between an optimal motherplant stock and regionally
proven varieties is our unique advantage – and the success of our
customers throughout Europe and worldwide reflects this.
Since 2011, we have been presenting new varieties and further information about Poinsettia at regional events all over Europe. This

de kerstcultuur. Kerststerren groeien in verschillende klimaatzones en
onder verschillende condities. Om ervoor te zorgen dat dit lukt, veredelen we al drie decennia bij Selecta kerststerren rassen om de telers
in alle regio's van Europa en de rest van de wereld optimale rassen te

TECHNISCHE KULTURTIPPS
Topfen: Bis die Pflanzen etabliert sind: Gespannte Luft, ab 20–25 klx
schattieren.
Luftfeuchte: Ideal zwischen 50–80 %.
Achtung: Taupunkt nicht unterschreiten.
Substrat: Hochwertiges Topfsubstrat: pH 5,5–6,5.
Licht: Blüteninduktion in unseren Breiten zwischen
dem 20.–28. September.
Düngung: Die Düngung sollte auf Basis von regelmäßig durchgeführten
Substratanalysen vorgenommen werden.
Empfehlung: Anfang September, Ende September und Mitte Oktober.
Das N:K Verhältnis sollte 1,2:1 betragen.
1. Vegetative Phase: Wenn Wurzeln am Topfrand erscheinen:
Mehrnährstoffdünger, am besten mit jeder Bewässerung (0,1–0,2 %).
2. Lagerphase: Zum Kulturende Düngerzufuhr reduzieren und trocken
kultivieren. Ideal: 100 mg N. Das erhöht die Haltbarkeit deutlich.
Temperatur: In sehr kalten Sommernächten ggf. heizen, damit Austrieb
und Zuwachs nicht gefährdet werden. Energieersparnis in der
Anfangsphase führt zu Qualitätsverlusten, die mit hohem
Energieaufwand zum Ende der Kultur aufgeholt werden müssen.
Schattieren: 1.–8. Tag ab 20 klx
9.–14.Tag ab 35 klx,
danach auf 50 klx steigern. An strahlungsreichen Tagen ab 50 klx
schattieren mit einem Lüftungsspalt von 20 %.
Stutzen: Mehrtrieber: ca. 10–14 Tage nach dem Topfen auf die gewünschte
Zahl Augen (Austriebe) gestutzt. Spätestens 25. September (T6 Mehrtrieber).
Cool Morning: Mögliche Einsparung von Hemmstoff.
Wachstumsregulierung: Sortenwahl, Temperatur und Bewässerung bestimmen das Endprodukt ganz wesentlich. Bei Einsatz von Hemmstoffen beachten Sie bitte die aktuellen Veröffentlichungen der Pflanzenschutzbehörden
der jeweiligen Länder und die Gebrauchsanweisung der einzelnen Präparate.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Potting: keep air humidity high until the plants are well established and
shade from 20–25 klx
Substrate: high quality, PH value: 5.5.–6.5
Light: flower induction is given between September 20 and 28
(in Central Europe).
Fertilizer: feeding should be based on regularly conducted substrate
analyses. Ideally at the beginning of September, end of September and
mid-October. The N:K ratio should be 1.2:1.
Shading: Day 1 to day 8: from 20 klx/Day 9 to day 14:from 35 klx.
Increase stepwise to 50 klx, later at days with high radiation shade from
50 klx with a ventilation gap of 20 %
Vegetative phase: when roots appear at the pot edge: Use compound
fertilisers, best carried out with each watering (0.1–0.2 %)
Pinching: pinch multistem plants approx. 10–14 days after potting,
leaving the desired number of axillary buds (side shoots).
Pot size 6 cm latest on September 25 (in Central Europe).
Storage phase: towards end of cultivation feeding should be reduced
(ideal 100 mg N/l). Use a dry cultivation. This increases the shelf life
considerably
Temperature: use the heating in cold summer nights to ensure sprouting
and incremental growth. Energy savings in early stages lead to quality
problems and demand high energy inputs at the end of cultivation.
