The story of Max who had a humble and troubled childhood, with difficulties and was raised by
his mother and grandfather. Through judo, the boy gets involved with the principles of martial
arts and tracks a path of overcoming and learning in an exciting story in search of a dream: to
become an Olympic champion. Starring Caio Castro, Suzana Pires, Sabrina Sato, Tato Gabus
Mendes, Moacyr Franco, Domingos Montagner, Felipe Folgosi and Tuna Dwek.
“We don’t see this kind of a project a lot in Brazil, it is an inspirational movie about an overcome
story of a little boy who wants to become a Judo champion. It is a very different genre from
what has been done recently in Brazil, says Fernando Meirelles (director of City of God).”
Acclaimed Brazilian classical pianist and conductor João Carlos Martins who has performed with
leading orchestras in the United States, Europe and Brazil is responsible for the soundtrack of
the movie. “When Stefano asked me if I could write the soundtrack of “The Great Victory”, I
said: I’ve never done one before, it is not my cup of tea, but when he showed me the beginning
of the movie, I got very emotional and I said that I would face this challenge at the age of 73”
said Mo. Martins.
For decades Martins has been engaged as the leading pianist at the Boston Symphony, the Los
Angeles Philharmonic and other ensembles. The New York Times wrote, "Maestro Martins has
lived a life of renown, challenge, tenacity and triumph sufficient to fill a lively memoir".

reinvented himself as a conductor, leading hundreds of performances worldwide including
acclaimed concerts at Carnegie Hall. He is a conductor at the English Chamber Orchestra and the
