We are more than happy to be working on AMB VOLLEYBALL TOUR 2014, renamed because of the existence, for the first time, of two events in the
same year and in different cities (Espinho and Gondomar).
The success we experienced in the previous 2 editions of AMB Volleyball Cup, in Espinho, didn´t make us relax, far from that.
With a competent and capable structure, mostly formed by people connected with the sport, and with the support of the City Council, namely its
president Dr. Pinto Moreira, we are determined to improve the less positive aspects of the 2nd edition.
We exceeded all the expectations and benefited from the participation of a large number of teams from North to South of Portugal, as well as Spain
and Italy, adding to a total of 1300 athletes who enhanced Espinho sports scene and granted new colours to the streets, the municipal swimming
pool, the beaches, bares and schools of our city.
Our project is quite ambitious and we want to keep making it better in order to affirm ourselves in a definite way as a world class tournament for
youngsters. With all the support and the commitment amongst the work staff, we are convinced we can improve the promotion and the
consolidation of a project that will undoubtedly remain in the memory of whoever participates or attends. With all the work well done, the spirit and
ambition of the all the staff members, volunteers and sponsors, we will, with no doubt, achieve our goals.
We also had the privilege of hosting the 1st and 2nd All Star Game in Portugal, being able to gather the present best Portuguese players, to whom
we send our thanks for lighting the event and present the youngsters with an excellent day, allowing lots of them to get close to some of their idols.
We would also like to thank the Italian team who came to add more quality to the event.
Espinho is a sports town, being known, for many years now, as the “Capital of Volleyball”, so, welcome to the “dream stage”.
We want to thank all the entities supporting us, press, public, volunteers, athletes, technicians, directors, parents, because without all your
commitment, caring and dedication, none of this could be accomplished.
As mentioned before, 2014 will mark the beginning of the AMB TOUR.
Besides the end of season event (1st to 5th July) in Espinho, it will also take place a major event on September, in Gondomar. This will happen before
the beginning of school classes and will serve as a training to those about to start a new season.

We intend that teams have a few days to organize, define objectives and make a competitive preparation.
All the National Champions (Portuguese) of all levels are invited to compete in September at the AMB Volleyball Cup – Gondomar 2014.
Another AMB innovation is the replacement of the junior level for the Sub-23 level. This extension was made so that athletes who competed in
previous editions can continue to do so and not be excluded because of their age.

Espinho is a modern city which welcomes thousands of visitors, national and worldwide, every year.
Benefits from one of the finest weather conditions in Europe (low temperature range: average 23ºC in the Summer, 12ºC in the
Winter). Also a gambling resort.
Also known as the Portuguese capital of volleyball.
To the visitors, Espinho has a lot to offer besides its beautiful beaches filled with light and colour: it has the oldest golf course in the
Iberian Peninsula, an Aerodrome, a Casino, a Multi-sports Complex, a Tennis Complex, an Equestrian Centre, Swimming Pools,
Multi-arts Centre, Culture and Arts forum, Municipal Museum, high standard hotels, Youth Hostels, Camping, the largest weekly fair
in the country and a Thalassotherapy Marine Resort, unique in Portugal.
At the cultural level, there are various activities that take place throughout the year and attract nationals and foreigners: The
CINANIMA (Animation Cinema Festival), the Music International Festival, the Ethnographic Parades, the Folklore Festival and a
number of other cultural and sports events.
The city is also renowned for the large streets in symmetric squares.
No farther than 20 km from the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, in Porto, Espinho possess easy and fast communication routes with the
country and abroad.

Born and raised in Espinho, Miguel Maia e João Brenha have recently created a youth volleyball academy.
Both were athletes of the two major clubs in Espinho (Associação Académica de Espinho and Sporting Clube de Espinho), were they
won many regional, national and international titles. A reference in volleyball and in their hometown, they were also capped at
indoor volleyball and beach volley, taking the game to a higher level, as well as the city and the country. An avenue in Espinho and a
pavilion in Vila Nova de Gaia were named after them.
They were featured in the top 100 athletes in Portuguese sports ever, next to greats such as Eusébio, Figo, Rui Costa, Joaquim
Agostinho, Carlos Lopes, Fernando Mamede, Rosa Mota, Carlos Lisboa, Carlos Resende, Fernando Gomes, Manuel Fernandes, Vitor
Hugo, Livramento, Coluna, Dantas etc.
The highlight in the career of these illustrious Espinho athetes happened when they participated in the world´s most broadcasted
sports event in the world, the Olympics. They travelled the world joining various international competitions, such as: World Games,
Lusophony Games, Europe Championships, World Circuit and the Olympic Games.
While kids, they played volleyball at club level, like their colleagues, but it was outside the sports hall that they intensified the
technique that allowed all their famous attributes. On the street, they used wires to replace the net in order to play volleyball with
their friends. Or they played over the house´s gates, all this made them evolve as athletes.
Beach Volley was never forgotten, and even before the existence of volley nets on the beaches, they would again improvise a court
using the beach tents.
Wanting to pass on to the youngsters some of their experience gained throughout various competitions, Miguel Maia and João
Brenha decided to organize an international tournament in their hometown gathering all group ages and some of the sport´s
variations (indoor and street).

1 – Group ages competing
The age of the athletes must be in conformity with each competitive group age, being the coach´s responsibility to present, at the
beginning of the tournament, the I.D. cards (Portuguese Volleyball Federation Licence, the country of origin Federation Licence, Citizen
Card or other identity document that can prove the participant´s age.)

2 – Competitive System
The competition system is optimized facing the registration numbers for each group age. The basic principle is to allow each team to
play as many games as possible. For that purpose we have, initially, a group system (number of teams depending on the existing
registrations) and, later, the qualifying rounds towards the final stands.
The competition uses the scoring system up to 15 points, best out three sets on the indoor format.

3 – Squad Composition
Besides the prohibition of changing personnel throughout the tournament, the squad must, absolutely, comply with the
following:
11 to 16 campos
Minis A: Squad must contain, at least, 9 elements and at most 12 (athletes and coaching staff ).
Minis B: Squad must contain, at least, 9 elements and at most 12 (athletes and coaching staff ).
Other group ages: Squad must contain, at least, 10 elements and at most 15 (athletes and coaching staff )
4 – Registration
The AMB Volleyball Cup – Espinho 2014, wanting to gather in the city Espinho a large number of volleyball players, offers a
limitless registration process.
A team is considered registered if such happens according to the schedule set for that purpose and after the payment of a
registration tax for each participant.
All the participants must have a sports insurance rightly activated, being this the club´s responsibility.
The registration for the Espinho event closes on the 15th June

Forma de pagamento; o pagamento da inscrição pode ser efetuado por cheque à ordem da Academia Maia/Brenha ou por
