O Concelho de Ourique, situado no sul de Portugal, constitui, nos seus 660 quilómetros quadrados, uma área de
transição entre as grandes planícies e as serranias que separam o Baixo Alentejo do Algarve.
Território de belíssimas paisagens e gastronomia típica e rica, onde o Porco Alentejano tem um papel de destaque,
o Concelho de Ourique destaca-se pela sua mancha de montado e pelo papel que desempenha na protecção do
mesmo.
MUNICIPALITY OF OURIQUE
The municipality of Ourique, in the south of Portugal, is in its 660 square kilometers, an area of transition between
the great plains and the hills that separate the Alentejo from Algarve.
Territory of beautiful landscapes and rich local cuisine, where the Alentejo Pig has a prominent role, Ourique
stands out for the “Montado” and the role it plays to protect it.

O PORCO ALENTEJANO
O Porco de Raça Alentejana (Sus Ibericus), é uma das raças autóctones portuguesas, cujo padrão se encontra definido.
Tem o seu habitat natural a sul de Portugal, abrangendo toda a região Alentejana, sendo explorado em sistema
de regime extensivo e tem por base de alimentação produtos agrícolas (cereais, bolota, erva, etc.) associados ao
ecossistema mediterrânico.
O acabamento e engorda é por excelência feito no montado, onde as bolotas servem de repasto e originam um
tipo de gordura intramuscular saudável, que dão origem a produtos tradicionais qualificados (DOP’s e IGP’s) com
características únicas.
ALENTEJO PIG
The Alentejo´s swine breed (Sus Ibericus) is a wild boar descendant from the mediterranean area, deriving from Iberian
or Roman lineage.
Its habitat is located all over Alentejo´s area and it is grown under extensive method. This breed is fed with ecosystem
existing products such as cereals, grass and acorn, among others.
The growing and the fatting procedure are completed in the “montado”, where acorns remain swine main diet. That´s
why there´s a healthy intramuscular fat that leads to traditional qualified products (POD and PGI)

Preparation:
Confecção:
Mix the garlic with the olive oil, the chopped coriander and the
sliced bread with warm water and salt. Take it to boil and cook,
stirring with a spoon.
The meat fries with a little lard and accompanies the migas with
orange slices.
Mistura-se os alhos com o azeite e os coentros picados e o pão fatiado
com um pouco de água temperada de sal e leva-se ao lume, deixando
ferver e cozer, mexendo com uma colher. A carne frita-se com um
pouco de banha, acompanha as migas com laranja às rodelas.

crust, chop the coriander, the bread and the olives. Fry the
potatoes into thick slices and peel in olive oil.

Para a crosta, picar os coentros, o pão alentejano e azeitonas
de Elvas, fritar as batatas em rodelas grossas e com casca em
azeite.

Corta-se o lombinho ao meio e vai a grelhar, pica-se o alho e
os coentros e coloca-se em cima do lombinho depois de bem
grelhado e rega-se tudo com o azeite, acompanha com as
migas à alentejana ou batata frita.

coriander and place on top of the grilled tenderloin grilled. Put

A Feira do Porco Alentejano teve o seu início em 2007, naquelas que
foram as I Jornadas Gastronómicas “Sabores do Porco Alentejano”.
Este evento é o culminar e celebrar, todos os anos, do mundo rural,
do montado e do porco alentejano. É um momento de encontro de
Ouriquenses e de visitantes de todo o país, unidos em torno de um
produto de excelência e dos seus derivados, onde Ourique se veste de
gala para fazer aquilo que melhor sabe: receber de braços abertos.

The Alentejo Pig's Fair began in 2007. This event is a celebration, every year, of
the rural world, the Montado and the Alentejo Pig. It is a moment of encounter
between Ouriquenses and visitors from all over the country, united around an
excellent product and its derivatives, where Ourique does what it does best: to
receive with open arms.

CIRCUITO ARQUEOLÓGICO DA COLA
O Circuito Arqueológico da Cola é constituído por quinze sítios arqueológico que se distribuem cronologicamente desde
o período Neolítico até à Idade Média e se encontram implantados num espaço de vários quilómetros quadrados, que
tem o Castro da Cola como centro e o Rio Mira como elemento estruturante da paisagem e aglutinante das populações
do território.
O seu Centro Interpretativo, junto ao Castro da Cola, presta os serviços de acolhimento e informação aos visitantes,
dispondo ainda de uma loja onde é possível adquirir publicações e outros materiais de divulgação.
COLA’S ARCHAEOLOGICAL CIRCUIT
Cola’s Archaeological Circuit has fifteen archaeological sites that are distributed chronologically from the Neolithic
period to the Middle Ages, in an area of several square kilometers. Castro da Cola stands in the center of it and the Mira
river works as a structuring element of the landscape and the population of the territory.
It’s Interpretive Center next to Castro da Cola, provides services and information to visitors, while there is also a shop
where you can purchase publications and other materials of interest.

CENTRO DE ARQUEOLOGIA CAETANO DE MELLO BEIRÃO
Inaugurado a 12 de Setembro de 2009, o Centro de Arqueologia Caetano de Mello Beirão (CACMB) constituiu-se como
um centro de estudo das peças arqueológicas do Depósito Votivo de Garvão, com cerca de 2400 anos, que estiveram em
Conímbriga mais de 20 anos. Daí para cá, o CACMB tem funcionado como centro de conhecimento, estudo e formação
arqueológica.

Opened on September 12th of 2009, the Archaelogy Center Caetano de Mello Beirão was established as a center for the
study of archaeological deposit of Depósito Votivo de Garvão, who've been at Conímbriga over 20 years. Since then, the
Center has functioned as a place of knowledge, study and archaeological training.

DEPÓSITO VOTIVO DE GARVÃO
Situado em Garvão, tendo sido descoberto em 1983, trata-se de um depósito secundário de oferendas e ex-votos,
constituído na 2ª metade do séc. III a.C., certamente incluído numa estrutura de carácter religioso mais complexa. Todo
o espólio proveniente das escavações, depois de muitos anos depositado em Conímbriga, em 2009 regressou a Ourique
para o Centro de Arqueologia Caetano de Mello Beirão.

Situated in Garvão, having been discovered in 1983, it is a secondary deposit of votive offerings and composed in the 2nd
half of the II century B.C., certainly packaged in a religious character more complex. All the spoils from the excavation,
after many years deposited in Conímbriga, returned in 2009 to Ourique and are at the Archaelogy Center Caetano de
Mello Beirão.

BARRAGEM DO MONTE DA ROCHA
A funcionar desde 1972, a Barragem do Monte da Rocha é um local de grande beleza natural. Seja pela facilidade de
observação de diversas espécies de aves, ou simplesmente pela contemplação da paisagem, muitos são os motivos que
justificam uma visita para explorar todos os recantos desta albufeira. É frequente a presença de turistas nas suas autocaravanas, estacionadas junto ao paredão ao longo do ano, onde as possibilidades de realizar actividades de lazer são
imensas.
DAM OF MONTE DA ROCHA
Operating since 1972, the dam of Monte da Rocha is a place of great natural beauty. It’s a perfect place to do birdwatching,
with several species of birds, or simply to observe the landscape. There are many reasons for a visit to explore every
place of this reservoir, which has many tourists in their campers, parked along the year, where is possible to do several
leisure activities.

O Montado assume-se como um património natural inestimável. Como floresta constituída, maioritariamente, por
sobreiros, é um garante do equilíbrio do ecossistema, contribuindo decisivamente para a especificidade do porco
alentejano, bem como para a qualidade final dos produtos que dele resultam.
O Montado, para além dos benefícios ambientais que proporciona na fauna e flora que o rodeia, assume-se como um
cartão de visita da região que merece ser visitado.
The Montado (the cork oak forest) is a priceless natural heritage. As forest made mostly by coark oak trees, it balances
the ecosystem, contributing decisively to the specificity of Alentejo Pig, as well as for the final quality of the products that
result from it.
The Montado, besides the environmental benefits that provides in the fauna and flora that surrounds it, is worth visiting.
