Uma nova geração de profissionais discute Educação, Emprego e
Empreendedorismo num contexto Global
Iniciativa Fórum E3
Os temas de Educação, Emprego e Empreendedorismo estarão em discussão no Fórum E3,
Pavilhão do Conhecimento no próximo dia 26 de Junho. Pelo terceiro ano consecutivo, o Fórum
E3 proporciona um momento único de debate, interação e partilha de experiências entre
membros da Academia, Empresas, Educadores, Empreendedores, Inovadores, Decisores
Políticos e estudantes de Mestrado e Doutoramento. Presenças confirmadas: Elisa Martín Garijo
(IBM Europa do Sul), Chris Zegras (MIT), Mike de Leeuw (Branching Tree), Mary O’Donovan
(Hovione), entre outros. O Fórum E3 – Educação, Emprego e Empreendedorismo é uma
conferência internacional organizada por alunos de doutoramento do Programa MIT Portugal.
Pré-Eventos Fórum E3
Para preparar os participantes para a conferência, Eventos Pré-E3, com entrada livre, irão
decorrer em todo o país. A mostra de um filme e posterior sobre a cultura inovadora de Silicon
Valley e palestras via vídeo-conferência com oradores como Dr. Douglas Terrier (NASA) e Dr.
Richard Frackowiak (Human Brain Project), irão ocorrer em vários locais: IST (Lisboa), UM (Braga)
e INESC TEC (Porto). Os eventos pré-E3 irão decorrer na semana anterior à conferência, de 18 a
25 de Junho. Os registos para o Fórum E3 encontram-se abertos, com desconto limitado.
Porque a Conferência Fórum E3?
Tendo em conta a situação socioeconómica global, o Fórum E3 é uma iniciativa que pretende
contribuir para a criação de uma nova geração de profissionais, baseada na inovação e no
conhecimento tecnológico, e demonstrar que o investimento na formação de profissionais
altamente qualificados tem um impacto direto na sociedade e que esses profissionais podem
ter participação ativa no desenvolvimento social e económico do país.
O que será discutido no Fórum E3?
A edição deste ano tem como objetivo discutir o posicionamento dos jovens altamente
qualificados na sociedade portuguesa. Desta forma, pretende-se discutir e revelar as virtudes e
os imprevistos de seguir carreira no percurso académico ou na indústria, mas também abordar
as oportunidades e os desafios de quem fica ou sai de Portugal à procura de emprego. Para isso,
os painéis terão representantes com pontos de vista variados, de forma a contribuírem para o
debate, mas também poderem responder às questões colocadas pela audiência.
Competição de Posters
Para além dos seminários e mesas redondas com a contribuição de figuras chave, irá decorrer
em paralelo uma competição para trabalhos em formato de pósters e protótipos em três
grandes categorias: "Most Innovative Product/Technology", "Best Go-to-Market Strategy" e
"Scientific Breakthrough”.
Porque participar no Fórum E3?
As duas edições anteriores do Fórum E3 receberam um feedback entusiasta por parte da
audiência, e público em geral, tendo recebido um total de 500 participantes, 100 oradores e 60
representantes de empresas. Agora na sua 3ª Edição, o Fórum E3 continuará a construir um
ambiente dinâmico e interativo, apresentando Palestras Estimulantes, Sessões de Debate,
Seminários Paralelos, Sessões de Trabalho e uma Competição de Posters, de forma a promover
o networking entre todos os participantes.

Bio-Sketch
Mike de Leeuw (1960) is an accomplished entrepreneur in life sciences and high tech businesses. In the past 25
years he has worked for three major Multi-Nationals (Unilever, Shell, DSM). His current ventures in
biomedical/biotech all combine polymers with drugs or cells into innovative solutions for major chronic diseases. He
lived and worked in EU-China-India and USA. He has done various interim- and consulting assignments in biotech
start-up’s. Mike is a co-inventor of various drug delivery patents, and he majored from Leiden University in Tumour
Virology and Business Administration.
As general manager and CEO, he has coached management teams and development teams across geographical
cultures, and across company cultures. In the last 8 years he started-up 3companies in innovative healthcare
technology (advanced drug delivery and product development projects), of which the two latter from his private
investment fund.www.dsmbiomedical.com; www.ingellpharma.com; www.branchingtree.com. He himself is most
active in Business- and IP-development. Next to leading the drug delivery company InGell Labs, Mike is also CEO of
Beta-Cell, working on a breakthrough cell therapy for Type-1 Diabetes (www.beta-cell.com) .
He has extensive working experiences in Europe, China and USA, with relevant experiences in S/SE Asia.Mike is
also active in a public-private consortium workgroup in regenerative medicine projects in the Netherlands
(www.BMM-program.nl).

Elisa Martin Garijo
Bio-Sketch
Elisa Martin Garijo is Chief Technology for Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel, a Distinguished Engineer, and a
member of the Leadership team of the IBM Academy of Technology. In her Chief Technology role, Elisa leads
technology and innovation in the country with the main objective of stimulating smart solutions in Spanish companies
and institutions using technology and innovation as drivers. In this role she is the leader of the IBM Innovation
Network, a community of professionals able to transmit innovative experiences and technology to enterprises and
society, and bringing value by connecting clients with IBM Research.
As a member of IBM’s Academy of Technology Leadership team, Elisa participates in investigative studies on
international and national levels. She holds two patents and several written collaborations / studies about technical
products and processes. As an executive, she is responsible for maintaining excellence and vitality in the technical
community of SPGI IMT supporting the second IBM value, Innovation that Matters, for clients and society.
As specialist in large company systems, web architecture and application integration, she has participated in the
design and kick-off of multi-channel solutions, company/corporate architecture and specific growth/development
systems. Previously, she headed Architecture and Technology in the line of negotiations for Business Consulting
Services of IBM Spain. As Chief Architect she successfully led the Architecture, developing and integrating the
Application System for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Her extensive experience and leadership was in the fields of
technology, data management, IT infrastructure, systems administration and application development.
With a Mathematics degree from the Complutense Univerisity of Madrid, a Certified Information Technology
Architect in Applications and e-Business Infrastructures, Elisa has over 27 years of industry experience.

Bio-sketch
Marta Agostinho is European Project Manager at Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa
(FCM/UNL), presently responsible for the management of an European Joint Action in Mental Health policy involving
over 30 partner institutions from 26 European Countries.
Marta Agostinho is also an independent consultant in Science Communication & Knowledge Transfer. Her fields
of action include strategic communication, media relations and new media, outreach and public dialogue with
science, science management and policy. She currently performs projects for research institutions, foundations and
private companies. In addition, she organizes training courses in communication, science management and career
mentoring for researchers and communicators. M. Agostinho is an elected member of the Science and Society
Committee of European Federation of Biochemistry Societies (FEBS) and is expert evaluator for the 7th European
Framework Programme (FP7).
M. Agostinho started a career in science management and communication in 2008. She was science manager of
the IMM international PhD programme, having participated in its launching at Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM),
Lisbon, Portugal. From 2008-2012, M. Agostinho was involved in the creation of the Communication & Training Unit
at IMM, which provided a coordinated framework for Science Communication, Advanced Training and Science
Funding at the institute. As the Director of the Communication & Training Unit, she coordinated the strategic
communication and the Science & Society programmes. The latter aimed at developing long lasting two-way
interactions between the scientific biomedical community and distinct publics such as schools, younger generations,
the media, decision makers, patients associations and other stakeholders.
Marta graduated in Biochemistry at University of Porto, did a Msc. in Biochemical Engineering at Instituto Superior
Técnico in Lisbon and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon. She was invited
Professor of Genetic Engineering at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologia in Lisbon. In 2009, she
completed a post graduation in Science Communication at The Open University, UK.

Cristina Godinho
Bio-Sketch
Cristina Godinho holds a degree in electrotechnical engineering and computers from School of Engineering at
Universidade do Porto.
Being dedicated to knowledge acquisition and application Cristina continues to participate in executive training
programs such as 'Driving Strategic Innovation' from MIT Sloan School of Management, 'New Product Development'
from North Caroline Institute, and 'Intellectual Property' from Portuguese Institute of Intellectual Property; while
strengthening her foundations with general management courses from Porto Business School.
Cristina has performed diverse professional functions at Efacec since 1991. These experiences have provided
ample opportunities for growth and career progression ranging from coordinating project management and tendering
to leading Efacec Group's innovation area. Currently she draws upon her vast operational experience to guide Efacec
into a new era of innovation and technology as the Director of the Corporate Innovation, Quality and Organization
Area.
