Dear Parishioners,
Today we celebrate one of the most fundamental beliefs of
Christianity: the Trinity – three distinct, coequal persons in
one God. For the Church, the Trinity is considered a mystery.
There are aspects of it we will never fully grasp while we are
this side of heaven. But it is something that we hold as revealed truth. Today's readings touch on the distinctions, as well
as the linkages, between and among the persons of the Trinity.
It has been said that such a theological mystery is not a puzzle to solve, but more like an ocean in which we are swimming. We may never comprehend its totality, but we experience its presence and accept its reality, as well as its magnificence.
There are references to the Holy Trinity in the Old Testament, but
their meaning was mostly hidden. When Jesus became man,
he revealed the three persons of the Trinity more fully. As
Christ had promised before he ascended into heaven, the Holy
Spirit did come at Pentecost to help and empower the early
Church to carry on Jesus’ saving mission. The Spirit was also
poured out upon the Church to guide it and its members in the
way of truth. The Holy Spirit continues to be at work in and
through the Church, empowering the Church and her members to continue doing the work Jesus calls her to do.
Contact the Parish office to arrange for baptismal preparation. Baptisms are celebrated monthly except during Lent.

Welcome
We welcome visitors and newcomers to St. Clare Parish.

the Church vestibule. You may also fill out the form below.
throughout the Mass that honor the Holy Trinity. Of course, the creed is probably the most
obvious, but you will find others that give voice
to our belief in and adoration of the Holy Trinity.
The Solemnity of the Holy Trinity has been an
official and universal celebration in the Church
since the thirteen hundreds. It is even celebrated
by most Protestant denominations. During today's
liturgy, special prayers honor each of the persons of the Trinity, but every Mass is full of
references to the Trinity and prayers showing
our devotion.
Our Catechism tells us that the Trinity is
the model and source of unity of the
Church, as well as that of the family. (813,
2205) As we reflect on these things, let us
pray to the Holy Trinity to guide us in
strengthening our unity, as we continue to
respect and cherish our diversity. Let us
also see the Most Holy Trinity as a model for
how we are to live. Just as the three persons of the Holy Trinity are perfectly united in a oneness of love, we are called to
live in ever-greater love and unity with God
and one another. That is definitely a model
for our diverse community to look up to and try
to live it to the best of our ability.
Sometimes we pray to the Trinity without realizing
what we are doing. The sign of the cross is a case
in point. This is probably the prayer most commonly said by Catholics. Yet, many people do not think
of it as a prayer to the Trinity. In fact, a good number of Catholics go through the motions of the sign
of the cross, without thinking about the words at
all. It has become what we call a ritual, something
in which the motions become a prayer in themselves.
During today's Mass, make a point to notice how
many times we make the sign of the cross. Think
about the words. Listen, too, for other prayers

There have been so many people involved and so
many people volunteered that it is truly difficult to name
each one separately.
I would like to just mention one name: Jasmine Vu the Chair of our Festival Committee. She has organized a beautiful Festival again with all the details involved.

Sunday Children’s Programs
“Finding God” Continuous Faith Formation Program
Religious Education here at
St.Clare’s is more than just a Sacramental preparation program.
Receiving the sacrament of Eucharist for the first time is not the end
of faith formation; it is one of
many milestones along a life-long journey called discipleship. Therefore Parents are encouraged to enroll their
children every year in our ongoing Faith Formation classes to help them to increase their knowledge and love of
Jesus and the Catholic Church during those important
years of their formation.
Registrations for next year children's Faith Formation
are now being taken. All children who are not attending
catholic school from 1st to 6th grade may register for the
cycle 2016-2017. In order for our Catechetical Office to
better provide religious education to our children please
register before May 31st, this allows to plan what resources – books, catechist, aides, etc – are needed for
the year ahead. After this date there is a $50 late fee.
New and Continuing Student Registration Forms are
available at the entrances to the Church and in the Parish
Office. They will also be available in our website. All new
registrations must provide a Certificate of Baptism even if
baptized at Saint Clare’s.
Thank you for registering early.
Sessions are scheduled on Sunday mornings from
10:15am to 11:30am starting almost at the same time of
the new school year during the fall.
Any questions? Please contact Paty Rascon at 4082487786 Ext.102 or [email protected]
The Catechetical Office will be closed during the
months of June and July, returning to regular office hours on Tuesday August 2nd. During that
time inquiries can be directed to the Parish office
at 408-248-7786
The Knights Corner.

St. Cristobal Magallanes
& Companions
Like Blessed Miguel Agustin Pro,
S.J., Cristobal and his 24 companion martyrs lived under a very antiCatholic government in Mexico, one
determined to weaken the Catholic
faith of its people.
Churches,
schools and seminaries were
closed; foreign clergy were expelled.
Cristobal established a
clandestine seminary at Totatiche,
Jalisco, Magallanes and the other priests were forced to
minister secretly to Catholics during the presidency of
Plutarco Calles (1924-28).
All of these martyrs except three were diocesan priests.
David, Manuel and Salvador were laymen who died with
their parish priest, Luis Batis. All of these martyrs belonged to the Cristero movement, pledging their allegiance to Christ and to the Church that he established
to spread the Good News in society—even if Mexico's
leaders once made it a crime to receive Baptism or celebrate the Mass.
These martyrs did not die as a single group but in eight
Mexican states, with Jalisco and Zacatecas having the
largest number. They were beatified in 1992 and canonized eight years later.

Thursday: St. Philip Neri
Friday:
St. Augustine of Canterbury
Saturday: Blessed Virgin Mary
Around the turn of the fourth century, Augustine, still
fairly fresh from the baptismal waters in Milan, was
elected bishop of a tiny city in North Africa, Hippo. He
told his people, “While I am frightened by what I am for
you, then I am consoled by what I am with you. For you
I am a bishop, with you I am a Christian.” He had his
priorities right, and also knew that everyone coming
from the water arises with a ministry, a specific role, in
bringing about God’s kingdom.
If we were asked to purge English of Greek vocabulary, we would gain an insight into key ministries in our
church. Bishop, from the Greek episkopos, would become simply “overseer;” priest, from the Greek presybter, would become “elder;” and deacon, from the
Greek diakonos, would be “servant.” Each title stands in
relationship to all the baptized, serving the community,
helping it to be the Body of Christ. In our deepest tradition, each of these ordained ministries is attuned to help
us become our best selves, to hunger and thirst for the
coming of God’s kingdom. The goal for each one of us
is to be able to recognize the presence of Christ in worship and in service. Although only some of us are ordained to ministry, each of us is called to ministry.

Quase a
Parabéns á Sociedade do Espírito Santo
a emular. — Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
a Dios”.
A partir
desta Sociedade.
