Little Dribblers tourney begins
Over 3000 athletes, fans,
family members and spectators
are expected to attend the Little
Dribblers’ 2013 Girl’s and Boys
Continental
Tournament,
beginning Wednesday (today)
and continuing through Saturday
here in Levelland.
Events will be held in six area
gyms: Levelland High School
main and auxiliary gyms, Middle
School
gyms A and B,
Intermediate School, and Carver
Learning Center.
Divisions represented in play
are: Boys Junior (BJ), Boys Major
(BM), Boys Senior (BS), Girls
Junior (GJ), Girls Major (GM), and
Girls Senior (GS).
Tournament play is scheduled
to begin at 11:45 a.m. at the
designated times and locations:

Sundown Chamber hosting tourney
The Sundown Chamber of
Commerce is sponsoring the first
ever Diana Cruz Fight For Life
Golf Tournament, benefitting the
American Cancer Society and
breast cancer awareness, will be
held Saturday and Sunday, April
20-21 at the Sundown Municipal
Golf Course.
The event will be a four-man
scramble, with tee times at 8 a.m.
and 2 p.m. both days. The teams
will be flighted after Saturday
evening’s round. Tee times will
be first-come, first served.
Cash pay-outs will be
awarded to the top three teams in
each flight. Pay-outs and flights
will be based on the number of
teams.
In addition, there will be door
prizes as well as free rope holes
and mulligans on Saturday. Both
will be optional or pre-paid on
Sunday. Food and drinks will be
provided. There will also be
longest drive, closest to the pin
and best (professionally dressed
The cost is $525 per team and
the tourney is limited to the first
36 teams.
The tournament is named
after Diana Cruz, a former director
of the tournament when it was
sponsored by her employer, Big 4
Meter and Supply. She is currently
undergoing treatment for cancer.
“Diana is a Sundown
resident, and for the last six years
she has been working with Big 4
in sponsoring a golf tournament
for cancer,” said Liz Fleming,
Sundown Chamber to Commerce
President. “She previously beat
cancer, but it has come back, and
in her honor, the chamber is
sponsoring he tournament to
honor Diana for her fight and her
zest.
We’re all hoping for
remission in this latest battle.”

The Levelland Loboettes fell
to the Estacado Lady Matadors
13-3 in District 2-3A softball
action last Saturday in Lubbock.
The Loboettes fell to 0-6 in
district play.
After the Lady Mats had
built up a 10-0 lead in the first two
innings, Levelland got on the
board with three runs in the top of
the fifth inning.
Megan Chavarria and Ivan
Baeza reached base, and later,
Teagan Duran drew a walk to load
the bases.
Monica Davila then smashed
a single into centerfield to score
all three runners, making the
score 10-3.
Estacado came back to score
two runs in the top of the fourth
and ended the game with a single
run in the bottom of the fifth. The
game ended on the 10-run rule.
Levelland travels to Cooper
