IS 100 Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS)

COURSE GOALS: This 1-day course provides training on and resources for personnel who require
a basic understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-100, Introduction to the Incident
Command System, introduces the ICS and provides the foundation for higher-level ICS training. This
course describes the history, features, principles, and organizational structure of the ICS. It also
explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). The
course will cover the following; ICS overview; basic features of ICS; Incident Commander and
Command Staff Functions; General Staff Functions; ICS Facilities; and command responsibilities.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Members from the Emergency Management System to include but not be
limited to: Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Hazardous Material, Public Health, Public Works,
Emergency Management, Emergency Medical System, Government Administration, Campus Safety
Officials and Non-Governmental Organizations.
REGISTRATION: Registration forms must be received by the DHSEM one week prior to the start
