A Special Thanks To:
It has been a hectic term which has passed both quickly and
successfully. We must take time to take stock, breath and
reflect on the hard work that has been done and celebrate
our achievements.
Greg Shewen and Nikki Marsh from Innovatec Africa.
Innovatec Africa believes in giving back. As part of their
corporate social responsibility they presented CityKidz
with 10 complimentary training vouchers to the value of
R9500.00. We have chosen several Microsoft Excel and
Word courses for our staff to attend. Through
donations like this we can continue to encourage staff to
become lifelong learners.
Thanks to the staff, children and parents for your input
during this term.
A special thank you to AFHCO staff for supporting us all in
so many different ways. Our school can only get better with
your positive contributions.
We are looking forward to next term and managing the
exciting opportunities it brings and considering how to
develop the school still further for the benefit of the
children. We need to look for the positive in all that we do,
continually re-affirm that life is beautiful and keep on
A Special Thanks To:

OUR HERITAGE DAY CELEBRATIONS
On Tuesday the 23 September CityKidz learners celebrated Heritage Day and National Braai Day
Tuesday 23rd of September 2014, a day in the history of CityKidz. Our learners were colourfully dressed in
their cultural clothing. A modeling show was held and some learners walked away with “Best Dressed” titles.
The Gummy Bears(Grade R) were also part of this exciting contest.
The best dressed learners in Grade R were: Gugulethu Mpanza and Umziwandile Thwala
Mmanyathi Makwela 3A was Miss Heritage (Junior)
Zimikhona Shembe 2A was Mr Heritage (Junior)
Amahle Shembe 6A was Miss Heritage (Intersen)
Nkazimulo Mazinyane 4B was Mr Heritage (Intersen)
A talent show was held and different talents where showcased. Vanessa Bila in Grade 6A and Andile Maluleke
in Grade 4B left everyone in awe with their excellent Tsonga moves. It was a day to remember indeed!
Braai Fever
After the talent show it was braai time! The male teachers had to put on their aprons, whip out those braai
tongs and celebrate Heritage day South African Style. To all the people who made this day a success, thank
you very much. Your hard work and determination in making this day a success is sincerely appreciated. A
special thank you goes to Gert who donated braai stands for this beautiful event. Thank you again God bless.

BEHAVIOUR BANK DEPOSITS
QUOTE FOR THE WEEK
Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing
the hard work you already did.
Newt Gingrich
World Teachers’ Day held annually on 5 October is a
UNESCO initiative, a day devoted to appreciating,
assessing, and improving the educators of the world.
Everyone can help by celebrating the profession, by
generating awareness about teacher issues, by ensuring
that teacher respect is part of the natural order of things.
Congratulations to our learners who are working
Take the opportunity on this day to reflect on how
important your child’s teacher is and the role he/she plays towards obtaining credits in the Behaviour Bank. The
following learners achieved the most merits in his/her
in his/her life.
I TEACH
I teach because there is a great fulfilment that comes in
working with girls and boys.
I teach because I wanted to be a sculptor, and I can do
so, by shaping lives for the future.
I teach because I wanted to be an artist, and I can do so,
by painting dreams for children.
I teach because I wanted to be a musician, and I can,
in giving inspiration to children.
I teach because I wanted to be a historian, and I can in
having recorded something for the lives of great men to
come.
I teach because I wanted to be a poet, and I can in
writing impressive passages of mankind.
I teach because of the reward I receive when a child's
frown turns to smiles,
or when he/she says, "Now I understand."
I teach because of the personal growth
I receive each day as
I venture out on a quest for knowledge and techniques
to help my students understand.
I teach for it is in this where I can see the worthwhile
and true fulfilment of living.
