And maybe you had snow in front of your home! Now I am really looking forward to Spring! When will it arrive? Hopefully soon! This past week I had to calculate the amount of income tax I owed the Japanese government. Yes, because I receive a salary from HSK I must pay income tax. (Next month I must pay US income tax!) And I always have two opposing questions at this time of the year. The first question is this: How much do I have to pay the government this year? (Can you imagine how I express this question? Yes, not with a lot of joy!) But the second question is this: Did I give the Lord and His church what He deserves? The answer to the second question is most important to me. So far, the answer has always been good. In a book Josh-san and I have been studying for several months, we recently read these words of the author: ‘The whole point of tithing is to give to God first. God obligates Himself to bless first things and make them holy. He bestow first things with the power to bless the rest… We can get more out of 90 percent of our income when we tithe than we can from 100 percent of our income when we don’t tithe.’ (Chris Hodges, Fresh Air, Cp. 10 & 11) Last Sunday night several Brazilian teenagers visited HSK along with 3 adults. They sang two songs in Portuguese. I did not understand what they sang but I saw their faith in God. I am so glad these Christians have brought their faith in God to Japan. Christians from other countries have brought their faith in God to Hamamatsu. What am I trying to say? I think the Lord has heard the prayers of Christians around the world who have prayed for our nation. And He has started to make His love and peace and joy known to others. Surely more wonderful events are going to happen here. I am not sure really sure about the ‘culture of the church’ in Japan but I think that in other parts of the world many church members think somebody should be doing something. I think that church leaders feel pressure to start something for everyone to do. However, I also see this great task for you and me: Making known the wisdom of God to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places! (See Eph. 3:8-13.) ‘Pastor, what is it we should be doing?’ Simply explained: Be a wise Christian….Speak wisely about God Almighty….Behave wisely in every situation….Flee from all evil. Let’s do those things more this week. Each week Ruth-san and I look forward to seeing you, talking to you, hugging you and laughing together. I want to be the last one to leave the church so that I do not miss any joy. Oh yes, if you have to leave before others, do not worry about that but…please be sure to take a large portion of God’s peace. ‘‘Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thess. 5:23) Your pastor….Ben Please continue to tell…your family and friends about viewing ‘live’ and recorded meetings at HSK on the Internet. To see meetings, go to <www.hskchurch.org> and click ‘media’. Or go to<www.hskchurch .com> and click ‘live video’. You will find a list of previous meetings which can be seen at any time during the week. Thank you for sharing this information. 2 Church Announcements/Information………….…………………………………….. This Thursday(19th.)…there will be 2 special meetings at HSK with an American couple, Jeff and Lecia Retter. They are being sent by the US Aglow group. The first meeting begins at 10 AM and the second meeting begins at 1 PM. More information about this couple can be found in both Japanese and English in the SKI stand. Christians from other churches have been invited to attend this meeting along with their friends. You are invited too! please search her Facebook page. Several videos are ready for you to watch. She is so thankful for the prayers of HSK Christians. Plans are being made…for traveling to Costco Store in Nagoya by motorcycle this month or next month. It is not really a shopping trip but a ‘road trip’. If you are interested in joining several others in taking a motor-cycle trip to that store, please talk to Mauricio-san or our pastor soon. (Note: You will need to have a motorcycle!) If you wish to go there by bicycle, please talk to Gabriel-kun! (‘Gabrielkun? Pastor, does he want to ride his bicycle to Nagoya?’)(‘I don’t know!’) If you want to walk to Nagoya, please talk to ???. On March 21st. (Saturday)…there will be a worship and testimony time with the youth group, Enkuri, at the Enshu Church of Christ in Hosoi Cho beginning at 7 PM. More information about this meeting can be found in the SKI stand or talk to Takahiro-san or Kentasan Everyone is invited. …………………………………………………………… Almost every week…there are newsletters from other organizations which are posted on the church bulletin board. Everyone is invited to read this information. After reading it, please put it back on the bulletin board so others can read it. ‘A voice is calling, “Clear the way of the Lord in the wilderness. Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. Let every valley be lifted up and every mountain and hill be made low and let the rough ground become a plain and the rugged terrain a broad valley. Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed and all flesh will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” A voice says, “Call out.” Then he answered, “What shall I call out?”…’(Isaiah 40:3-6(NAS)). Beginning today…the Portuguese bulletin will be placed inside the English bulletin, not the Japanese bulletin. Please take an English bulletin if you wish to find the Portuguese bulletin. Our pastor is so thankful to Gabriel-san, Deborah-san, and Adrianna-san who joyfully make this bulletin each week. If you did not clearly see or hear…the video message we recently received from our missionary to Cambodia, Joanna-san, 3 Prayer Requests……………………………………………………………………….. Matso-san was discharged from the hospital last Wednesday. He is so happy to be at his home but needs strength to walk. Please continue to pray for him. Please continue to pray for the Bible class at the ‘men’s house’ which is twice a month. They want their friends to believe. Here’s a good prayer request: Prayer that we move with faith into new things. Let’s pray that way for ourselves. Cathy-san has requested prayer for a boy with brain cancer. There is no name but for sure this boy needs a miracle. Let’s pray for him this week. Suzuki Hiromi-san requested prayer for herself. She wants healing in her body. She needs much better health. Who will pray for her this week? Richard-san has friends who really need God’s help or they will have many more problems. Please pray with him for many Filipino teenagers. Ayumi-san returned to the Philippines last Wednesday. She will be there 3 weeks. Please ask the Lord to keep her well and make her a blessing to many people. Marie-chan is taking tests at her Bible School. She wants to do well. Please pray for her. Komatsu Shizuko-san was not feeling well last week. Her and her husband need better health. Who will pray for her this week? Please remember to pray again for Christians who are being persecuted in Middle Eastern nations. The cold weather also makes living so difficult. ………………………………………………………….. Note: If you do not want your request put in the church bulletin, please write that Thoughts to ponder……From the book: Fruit of the Spirit By: L. Velez……Chapter 4: “His Goodness” ‘The Lord is good. I can think of countless situations in my life where His goodness (manifested in compassion, mercy, and forgiveness) brought me out of very dark places. You should take some time to meditate every day on the goodness He has shown in your life. No time? Yes, there is: in the shower, driving here and there, as you lay on your bed, or while cooking, cleaning, etc. You can also get up earlier, go to be earlier, go to bed later, and there is right now. We say, “We don’t have time.” Yes, we do. We should always find time to think on the goodness of God and praise His Holy Name! The Bible has many scriptures on the Goodness of God. I have listed a few of my favorites. Titus 3:4-6…when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Saviour to man appeared, He saved us, not because of any righteousness that we had done, but because of His pity and mercy… Psalm 31:19 Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear, revere, and worship You. Goodness which You have wrought for those who trust and take refuge in You before sons of men! God is GOOD! We should never forget His goodness. If we would just reflect on His goodness in our lives and the Scriptures we would have a whole lot more peace. He is good! And, because He is good: goodness in all its forms should be manifested in the lives of His children in order to be the attracting light in this lost world…’ 4 Bem-Vindos a Igreja do salvador em Hamamatsu… HSK (浜松救い主教会) 2015-3-15 Acredite em nós quando dizemos…. “A primeira vez que voçê vem, é um visitante.
