July 02nd, 2015.
Dear Customer,
As previously informed, Indian customs authorities have made it mandatory for carriers to collect a
Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) before acceptance of metal scrap into India.
Recently, the authorities have decided to revise the certificate, by modifying and adding some
information.
Pursuant to it, please make sure your loading complies with the new and updated regulation.
We would like to remind you that no container will be loaded without a valid PSI Certificate, that
must be obtained by the shipper and will be registered on the body of the Bill of Lading.
After obtaining the certificate, kindly forward a copy of it to our Cargo Readiness Department prior to
the cargo deadline for the related loading vessel. CMA CGM will then send the concerned
documents to India.
We reinforce that shipper will bear the full costs and will be legally liable in case of any irregularity
on the PSIC.
We are at your entire disposal should you need further details and we thank you for your good
understanding and support.
Kindest Regards,
CMA CGM
