ATLANTIC ROOTS FESTIVAL
The
Atlantic
Roots
Festival, that takes place
for the 12th consecutive
year, brings to the Capital of
Madeira musical animation of traditional influence combined with
world music, joining groups of several origins at the Municipal
Garden stage. This event takes place from 21st to 23rd July.
On the first day we’ll have the Galundum Galundaina group
from Portugal, at 9:30 p.m., followed an hour later, by the
Gattamolesta group from Italy, that will open this year’s poster.
On the following days, we can watch several concerts from
Guinea Bissau, Dutch, Azorean and Madeiran groups. After the
concerts on the Municipal Garden auditorium the “After-hour”
takes place at the Mini Eco Bar, on the other side of Arriaga
Avenue.

STOPPAGE OF TIME
“We go into this intervention of matter (signs-physicals),
with the possibility of symbolize our connotation of time, of
ontological space with sanguinary violence, starving, with our
semantic structure stuck to the normal senses crown and go out
on the same horse, indifferent to the last sigh of life’s game,
without a possible shield, without the possibility of redemption.
We are the main course in the hands of time that moulds us for
sweat and tears close to a cold stone wall, where it stands the
oven of the diabolic bread of a survival”.
Excerpt of the text written by the poet Carlos Nó about the installation
“Stoppage of Time”, a sculpture exhibition by Jacinto
Rodrigues, patent at the Museological Nucleus of Machico, Solar
