Therefore never was there more need for a credible journalistic medium than today: Intro magazine. M usic makes everything better. But it has to be the right music. And that’s not so easily done: listening habits change, trends come and go. Since 1991, wherever music mattered, Intro was there, and is still constantly evolving. Intro doesn’t just write about youth culture, it’s a living part of the scene. That’s what makes the magazine so credible and ensures that Intro always keeps the beat. Intro is an indispensable compass in the ever thickening jungle of music publications. Competent, reliable and with its finger on the pulse of the scene, it reports current bands and trends every month, evaluates and delivers background information on artists, albums, downloads and tours. Centring on its core subject of pop, the magazine covers all aspects of popular culture with a modern layout and outstandingly researched stories, and keeps its readers up-to-date with the latest films, games, fashion, art and technology. In addition, Intro also has its own radio programme, broadcast weekly on MDR – and the Intro channel on putpat. tv shows how personalised music television on the Internet is done. Intro offers an environment in which brands and products aimed at young target groups are ideally placed: with an attractive readership, a high reach and strong credibility, and extending far beyond individual genres, scenes or media. And with almost 130,000 copies a month, Intro has long been one of the most successful magazines for music and popular culture in Germany. Readers Our readers Intro readers are passionate. They take an extraordinary interest in their favoured topics, and they study Intro with similar intensity. Little wonder, then, that Intro readers are educated to an above-average level and mainly found in the high-consuming and brand-conscious group of 18 to 39 year olds (92.3%) – and consume particularly entertainment products to an aboveaverage extent. »Fighting Fire With Fire« vom letzten so erfolgreichen Album verkündete programmatisch: »You’ll find yr place in the world girl / All you gotta do is stand up / And fight fire with fire / In the end no one is innocent / Big or small it makes no difference / Get up, stand out and hold yr head up higher.« Beth Ditto ist sich der Gefahr bewusst, allzu leichtfertig eine produktive, abweichende Position im Sell-out-Verfahren als leuchtende Ikone all derer herzuschenken, die es natürlich nicht schaffen werden, selbstverwirklicht in ihre Fußstapfen zu treten. Erscheinungsweise annually in May 11 Freunde Each issue of 11 FREUNDE is as surprising as football itself. Which means: unusual topics and gripping reportage instead of dry news style. For all its objectivity, the view is always from the stands, not from the press gallery. Real passion, no poses. Professional football may have become show business, from the relentless soundtrack blaring out before the game to the carefully rehearsed celebrations after every goal; 11 FREUNDE counters this well-oiled event machine with an honest love of the game, and in doing so has discovered and filled a niche in the print market. Today the magazine is a pioneer in sports journalism - and its readership, with above-average education, is still growing. Circulation (according to IVW, Q2 2009) 108,650 copies printed, 66,520 copies distributed, 23,661 subscribers Distribution Through newsagents Germany-wide, street vendors and subscription Published monthly / 12 issues a year, incl. special issues “Bundesliga”, World Cup/European Championships, “11 FREUNDE Spezial” every six months and “11 FREUNDINNEN” every three months. 12 Pick Up The Phone.
