Einzigartig in dieser Klasse ist der integrierte Kühlkörper für die völlig
neu entwickelten 13-mm-Hochtöner. Weniger Wärmeentwicklung
bedeutet höhere Belastbarkeit und damit eine deutlich verlängerte
Lebensdauer.
A unique feature of the Discus 13 mm coaxial tweeters is their
integrated cooling element. A technique derived from our BTT
technology, the cooling element pulls heat from the magnet and
voice coil assembly to extend operation and improve power
handling.

METAL TWEETER HOUSING (COMPONENT)
Das Metall-Kühlkörpergehäuse des Hochtöners dient der Vermeidung
von Überlastung. Höhere Wärmeabfuhr von Magnetsystem und
Schwingspule senkt die Temperatur der Ferrofluid-Füllung im Magnet-
spalt und steigert dadurch die Belastbarkeit erheblich. Die extrem
kleinen Abmessungen erlauben den Einbau auch in kleinste Originalschächte.
Our new Discus 13 mm tweeter uses a metal tweeter housing.
It is a direct application of our BTT technology originally applied
to our Q Line tweeters. This new design encapsulates the neodymium magnet structure in a specially designed metal cooling
housing. This new mechanical structure helps to remove the excess
energy generated inside the tweeter’s magnet and voice coil assembly. By dissipating the unwanted heat into the surrounding environment, our new Discus tweeter offers exceptional performance,
improved power handling and high reliability. The extremely small
dimensions of our new 13 mm tweeter allow it to be installed in
virtually any application.

TITANIUM DOME
Titan stammt aus der Raumfahrttechnik. Es ist sehr leicht und gleichzeitig extrem stabil und bietet sich dadurch für den Einsatz in
Hochtönern an. Seine extreme Steife lässt kaum Partialschwingungen
zu, die das reine Musiksignal verfärben. Der Frequenzgang bleibt linear,
der Wirkungsgrad optimal. Hochtöner also, die großes Lob verdienen.
Titanium was initially developed for the aerospace industry
because of its superior strength-to-weight-ratio. It is at the same
time both very light and very strong. As a material for tweeter
dome application, titanium is ideal only if properly engineered.
MB QUART has nearly perfected the use of titanium over the past
25 years. Our new, smaller 13 mm Discus tweeter domes provide
a smooth frequency response and extended bandwidth in a very
small package. This is what gives MB QUART its signature sound.

Erstmals sind auch die Körbe der Discus-Linie aus stabilem und
verwindungssteifem Kunststoff. Dieser neue zweiteilige Korb vereinigt
die wärmeableitenden Vorteile des Metallkorbs mit dem guten
Resonanzverhalten des Kunststoffkorbs. Das Innenleben der Lautsprecher ist vor mechanischen Beschädigungen, Schmutz, Feuchtigkeit und Temperaturschwankungen optimal geschützt. Die Einbaumöglichkeiten werden variabler, da umfangreiches Zubehör, wie
Adapterflansche, im Lieferumfang enthalten ist. Somit stellt der Einbau
sowohl in Originalschächte als auch als sichtbarer Einbau zum Beispiel
auf der Heckablage keine Probleme mehr da.
The new Discus baskets use a combination of polyamide ABS
composite reinforced with extremely short glass fibers to form the
basket. Similar to our Premium and Reference Line baskets, our
new design will withstand temperature and humidity extremes
with little, if any, reaction. The magnetic motor assembly is attached via a metal flange (another application of our BTT technology) that acts both as a cooling element and as a protective
covering to seal out dirt, humidity and temperature fluctuations.
Because the basket is non-metallic, non-magnetic and resonancefree, it becomes one of the most ideal designs for automotive
loudspeaker application.

The cones of the bass and mid-range drivers are made of a special
mineral-based polypropylene. This material is far superior to a
conventional paper cone. This applies to both its acoustical
properties and its resistance to humidity, temperature fluctuations and UV radiation. The result is pure listening pleasure,
year after year.

TWEETER PROTECTION
In dieser Klasse einzigartig ist der Schutz des Hochtöners vor Überlastung. In die Weiche ist ein PTC-Schutzelement integriert, das automatisch überschüssige Energie aufnimmt und die Lebensdauer des
Hochtöners auch bei extremen Lautstärken sichert.
A PTC protective element is incorporated into the loudspeaker
crossover to extend the life of the tweeter by protecting it against
overloading. This element automatically absorbs excess energy and
ensures the sound quality of the tweeter even at extreme sound
levels.

gängigen Fahrzeugtypen. Dieses Programm wird ständig erweitert
und ist unentbehrlich sowohl für den professionellen Spezialisten
als auch für den Hobbymonteur.
