What would it mean to tame art?
Maurischat’s work centers on making art in and around her childhood home, a
space unlike the ascetic environments housing contemporary art. Her
installations of artistic arrangements, as well as her painted pictures from
Flowers, stage a process of styled refinement.
That portrayals of pictorial art and design appear in several artworks here hints at the
notion of received ideas being stripped from their function.
Regardless, it is to communicate a felt structure of feeling through the language of
visual art.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Rosa Maria Maurischat (b. 1954, Lustenau, Austria) lives and works in Wasserburg,
Lake Constance.
Born in 1954, under the sign of zodiac twins, as a lot of artists are, and in an
ambivalence between fine arts and daily life is a must for bearing.
She participates with a solo exhibition this year to come.
