The Seito table conveys a playful lightness with the harmonious balance of
lines, angles and surfaces. The material
selection in particular underlines the
dramatic understatement. The table top,
made of white quartz, is carried by a
base made of elegant nut wood. The filigree table legs are an expression of clear
geometry, providing users with generous
leg room. Furthermore, the impressively
glossy surface of the table is highly
pleasant to the touch.

The KT11 dining table features a delicate
tube structure made of either stainless
steel square tubes or painted crude steel.
The structure follows the design idea
of a truss, allowing generous legroom
and the elegant but simple wooden top
of the table seems to float above it –
reminiscent of acacia tree canopies. The
tops come in different sizes, with various
edges and timbers including oak, walnut
and ash.

These open shelving elements in light
design, used as end shelving in the cabinet area, take the interior of the kitchen
to the outside and facilitate opening
of the kitchen into the living and dining
area. The shelves are flexible to use. In
the rear panel, system rails are located
which can accommodate, apart from
shelves of glass or oak, also drawers or
storage boxes and utensil holders.

The design of the Halia armchair is
inspired by fairy wings, which reflect in
the gently curved lines. The comfortable
chair is suitable for both contemporary
living and work spaces. It can also be
customised for the use in public spaces
such as hotels, hospitals and educational institutions. Its legs are available
in robust epoxy finish. The armchair is
available with either a high or a low
backrest and comes in a variety of fabrics and leather seating options.

The zeyko Flybridge statics system
allows whole sections of cabinets to
float seemingly in the air. In the version
with handle-less zeyko Metal-X2 fronts
and a solid worktop of stainless steel,
the impression of a closed metal kitchen
block is created, whereas the cantilever
and the bottom illumination give an
effect of floating lightness. The contrasting design of the kitchen island is
completed by walnut elements which
connect overhead cabinets, counter and
block.

The Nikau pendant luminaire is made
of FSC-certified bamboo plywood and
sold as a kit of single parts. It can easily
be assembled on site via push-in nylon
clips. The lamp comes in two versions:
the long version works best in the corner
of a room and several of them serve
as a room divider, whereas the short
version shown here is suited for direct
illumination, for example of tables. The
shadow play of the luminaire yields a
dynamic effect. The name Nikau refers
to the name of the only indigenous palm
tree in New Zealand.
Die Pendelleuchte Nikau wird aus FSCzertifiziertem Bambusholz gefertigt und
in Einzelteile zerlegt verschickt. Vor Ort
wird sie einfach mittels Einsteck-Klemmen
aus Nylon zusammengebaut. Es gibt zwei

Snowflake is a pendant luminaire made
of FSC-certified bamboo plywood. It is
sold as a kit, which reduces the volume
for shipping to a minimum. Furthermore,
this gives users the fun and satisfaction of having easily assembled their
own lighting system. Push-in nylon clips
keep the pieces together and ensure
that the lamp automatically takes up its
shape during assembly. The design of
the luminaire, which is available in three
different sizes, was inspired by a trip to
the Antarctic.

Bishop appears to be a pendant luminaire made of concrete. Due to an innovative manufacturing technique, the
problems with some of the properties of
this material, such as weight, fragility,
discolouration as well as dust abrasion,
could be solved. The luminaire, which is
cast in one piece, showcases a timeless
appearance with gently curved lines. The
pleasant colour temperature of 2,200 to
2,700 kelvins is reminiscent of candlelight and bathes the room in a romantic
atmosphere of light. The red power cord
forms an appealing contrast.

A fascinating material
Bamboo is a material of which there is an almost unlimited supply in nature. The plant grows very quickly
and can be used in many different areas. However, to
date its use in eyewear design has been tricky as
reading glasses require a high degree of stability and
flexibility. This bamboo spectacle frame from the
Naturalism.T series is the result of a two-year development process. One of its sources of inspiration was
the advantage offered by a knotting technique traditionally used in China. The outcome was a thin frame
measuring only 2.3 mm, which makes it very comfortable to wear. The very natural appearance associated
with bamboo is combined with a high level of stability. The design uses an innovative connection and pin
technique so that the frame is very light (11 grams)
and very flexible. Both the hinges and bow springs are
made of titanium to strengthen the join between the
frame and the temples. As a result, the glasses are adjustable and easily fit different head shapes and sizes.
The bamboo grain ensures that every frame is unique.
All frames are hand-polished to give them a smooth
surface. In this way, an extremely elegant appearance
is attractively combined with the natural quality of
this sustainable raw material.

schnell und sie kann in vielen Bereichen verwendet
werden. Im Brillendesign ist ihr Einsatz jedoch bislang
schwierig, da hier eine hohe Stabilität und Flexibilität
erreicht werden muss. Die Brillengestelle aus Bambus
der Serie Naturalism.T basieren auf einem zwei Jahre
dauernden Entwicklungsprozess, der sich unter anderem mit den Vorteilen einer in China traditionell verwendeten Verknüpfungstechnik befasste. Das Ergebnis
sind nur 2,3 mm dünne Gestelle, die einen sehr guten
Tragekomfort bieten. Die mit dem Bambus verbundene
Anmutung von Natürlichkeit geht dabei einher mit
einer hohen Stabilität. Durch die Gestaltung mit einer
innovativen Verbindungs- und Stecktechnik sind diese
nur elf Gramm wiegenden Brillengestelle leicht sowie
sehr flexibel. Sowohl die Gelenke als auch die Bogenfedern sind aus Titan gefertigt, um die Verbindung zwischen der Fassung und den Bügeln zu verstärken. Die
Brillen sind dadurch justierbar und lassen sich problemlos an verschiedene Kopfformen anpassen. Jedes dieser,
durch das Material Bambus in seiner Maserung einzigartige Brillengestell wird von Hand poliert und erhält
auf diese Weise eine weiche Oberfläche. Eine überaus

Designer Timothy Jacob Jensen was inspired by Nature when creating this
watch. Its elegant lines recall the rock
and earth strata that can be found in
certain parts of Denmark. The circular
case is made of stainless steel and is
framed by a clearly visible leather band.
Protected by mineral crystal glass, the
time can be told from a simple silvery
watchface. The size of the case is 36 mm
for the ladies’ watch and 41 mm for the
men’s version.
Designer Timothy Jacob Jensen ließ sich
beim Entwurf dieser Uhr von der Natur
inspirieren. Die eleganten Linien erinnern
an Lagen von Stein und Erde, wie sie in

In order to be prepared for these challenges, the design of the Joolz Geo stroller puts the maxim of flexibility centre stage. The resulting design concept is
based on three different configurations that are compatible with one another, offering parents many
solutions for everyday life with children. In addition,
the assortment comprises interchangeable elements
including a spacious and robust shopping basket.
The Mono configuration can easily be expanded with
the Duo extension for a second child by adding a
second cot or seat, to conveniently transport a sibling.
In the Twin configuration, this stroller is also suitable
for newborn twins. The sophisticated multifunctional
concept of the Joolz Geo merges with an appearance
of classical elegance, as well as a clear line design that
highlights its competence. The stroller delivers parents

Der Kinderwagen steht im Mittelpunkt der Mobilität
mit Kindern, bei der täglich viele unterschiedliche
Szenarien gemeistert werden müssen. Um diesen Herausforderungen gewachsen zu sein, stand bei der
Gestaltung des Kinderwagens Joolz Geo vor allem die
Maxime der Flexibilität im Vordergrund. Das daraus
resultierende Konzept basiert auf drei verschiedenen
Konfigurationen, die untereinander kompatibel sind.
Mit diesen eröffnen sich viele Lösungen für den Alltag
mit Kindern. Das Sortiment umfasst zudem auswechselbare Elemente wie beispielsweise einen stabilen, großen Einkaufskorb. Das Mono-Modell lässt sich leicht
erweitern für ein zweites Kind zur Duo-Konfiguration,
wobei der Joolz Geo mit einer zweiten Wanne oder
einem zweiten Sitz ausgestattet wird, um ein Geschwisterkind einfach mitzutransportieren. In der TwinKonfiguration ist dieser Kinderwagen außerdem für

Robots in the service segment fulfil different tasks
than those in other industries. As assistants to human beings, service robots have to reproduce human
actions in order for us to accept them. Care-O-bot 4
embodies an exciting new archetype of such a service
robot, since it has a particular human appeal. It moves
smoothly and elegantly through rooms. Featuring
elaborate gestures and facial expressions, it evokes
the emotions of everybody involved. In addition, this
robot can navigate autonomously, automatically detect obstacles and pick up requested objects. A highly
fascinating feature for users is the interaction with
the Care-O-bot 4, which happens either via speech
recognition or with a clearly designed, almost playfully appealing interface on the robot’s head. A modular
design concept allows for a customised set-up for
different tasks. This makes the robot versatile in use,
opening up new areas of application. In an impressive
symbiosis of research, engineering and design, this
service robot combines an intelligent interface with a
design quality that is also appealing to the touch – interaction with it becomes a cognitive-sensual experience, evoking positive emotions.

Roboter für den Servicebereich erfüllen andere Aufgaben als solche, die in der Industrie eingesetzt werden.
Als Dienstleister des Menschen müssen Serviceroboter
humane Handlungsabläufe abbilden, denn nur so können wir sie akzeptieren. Der Care-O-bot 4 verkörpert
einen spannenden neuen Archetyp eines derartigen
Serviceroboters, da er auf besondere Weise menschlich anmutet. Fließend und elegant bewegt er sich
durch den Raum. Weil er über Eigenschaften wie eine
ausgefeilte Mimik und Gestik verfügt, weckt er dabei
die Emotionen aller Beteiligten. Dieser Roboter kann
zudem autonom navigieren, Hindernisse selbst erkennen und auch gesuchte Objekte selbständig ergreifen.
Für den Nutzer ausgesprochen fesselnd ist die Art
der Interaktion mit dem Care-O-bot 4. Sie geschieht
mittels Spracherkennung oder über ein klar gestaltetes
Interface auf seinem Kopf, wobei dies nahezu spielerisch erscheint. Das Gestaltungskonzept ist modular

This chair has been designed to reflect
the typical beak form of a pelican. It
proves of value in all places where one
has to sit for extended periods, such
as in libraries, conference rooms or at
reception desks. What serves the bird for
the storage of food also provides storage
space here for a book, laptop or bag.
The chair comes in two versions – with
or without armrests, which are available
in a pleasant-to-touch material. There
are four frames to choose from: four-leg
frame, cantilever, round flat base and
four-star base.

bewährt sich überall dort, wo man länger

The Zoo collection is suited for large
conference halls and smaller rooms. Due
to its wide range of variations, it can be
adapted to individual requirements and
the chairs connected to form rows. After
an event, they can be easily stacked and
removed quickly. Various designs are
available: with four legs or cantilevered,
with a plastic or upholstered seat, with
a plastic, mesh or upholstered backrest,
with optional armrests and in six different colours.
The 1C10 Terion prosthetic foot has
been developed for walking on different
surfaces at a variety of speeds. It has a
minimalist form with an anatomically
shaped elastic heel, which facilitates the
natural rolling movement of the foot.
In the process, the spring element made
from carbon releases stored energy.
Moreover, the design focuses on robustness and also on simple handling for the
orthopaedic technician.

Precise minimalism
Writing with a pencil produces a very particular
sensation, which is partly governed by the softness
of the pencil lead chosen. This pencil lead holder is,
in effect, a special form of pencil with the advantage
that it can be “refilled” again and again. The Penxo
gives this writing tool a fascinating new twist. It succeeds in combining a form reduced to the essentials
with an innovative construction. The strict minimalist
approach does away with the usual assembled components. Instead, the casing of the Penxo is carefully
made from a single aluminium block. As there are
no springs, buttons and other mechanical parts, this
pencil lead holder with a diameter of just 2 mm looks
seamless and cohesive. It is simple yet stylish and
stands out due to its carefully considered functionality. A slot in the centre serves to release the lead and
also as a window to show the colour, marking and
usage level of the lead. The slit at the tip of the pencil
creates torque at the other end so that the resulting
counter-balance exerts a clamp-like hold on the pencil
lead. This astonishingly simple, but sophisticated

Das Schreiben mit dem Bleistift hat eine besondere
Sinnlichkeit, die auch durch die Weichheit der gewählten Mine bestimmt wird. Der Bleistiftminenhalter ist
im Grunde eine spezielle Form des Bleistifts mit dem
Vorteil, dass er immer wieder „befüllt“ werden kann.
Mit dem Penxo erfährt dieses Schreibgerät nun eine
faszinierend neue Interpretation. Es gelingt dabei die
schwierige Aufgabe, eine formale Reduktion mit einem
innovativen Aufbau zu verbinden. Einem streng minimalistischen Ansatz folgend, wurde hier auf die übliche
Gestaltung aus zusammengesetzten Einzelteilen verzichtet. Der Penxo entsteht durch das präzise Herausfräsen des Gehäuses aus einem einzigen Aluminiumblock. Da Federn, Knöpfe und andere mechanische Teile
fehlen, wirkt der Minenhalter mit einem Durchmesser
von nur 2 mm wie aus einem Guss und sehr in sich geschlossen. Er ist ebenso schlicht wie stilvoll und glänzt
zudem durch seine perfekt durchdachte Funktionalität.
Eine mittige Spalte dient dem Lösen der Mine und

Nicht erst seit dem berühmten Roadmovie „Easy Rider“
über das Amerika der späten 1960er Jahre verbindet
sich mit dem Motorradfahren ein Lebensgefühl von unbegrenzter Freiheit auf der Straße. Es ist ein besonderes Erlebnis, das den Alltag rasch vergessen lässt. Die
Gestaltung des Motorrads MT-07 will eine Leichtigkeit
des Motorradfahrens visualisieren, bei der vor allem der
Fahrspaß im Vordergrund steht. Das Fahren mit
diesem Motorrad soll sich anfühlen wie das Tragen des
Lieblingsoutfits in der Freizeit und dabei Ausdruck
des persönlichen Lebensstils sein. Umgesetzt wird dies
mittels einer faszinierend puristischen Gestaltung,
durch die das Motorrad sehr prägnant wirkt. Es beeindruckt mit einem leichten, schlank und kompakt gebauten Chassis, welches ihm eine sehr agile Anmutung
verleiht. Schlüssig in die insgesamt wohl proportionierte Form integriert wurde ein 689-ccm-Reihenmotor
mit zwei Zylindern, der beim Fahren ein starkes Drehmoment bietet. Diese Kombination passt ausgezeichnet
zum Gesamtkonzept der MT-07, da sie dem Fahrer
zum Fahrkomfort auch ein angenehmes Beschleunigungsgefühl gibt. Derart ausgerüstet, begeistert dieses

Pure riding pleasure
It is not just since the famous road movie “Easy Rider”
about late 1960’s America that riding a motorcycle has
been connected with a lifestyle and a feeling of absolute freedom on the road. It is a special experience
that lets one quickly forget everyday life. The design
of the MT-07 motorcycle aims at visualising a lightness of motorcycling that, above all, places the fun of
riding centre stage. Riding this motorcycle should
feel like wearing one’s favourite casual outfit and be
an expression of their personal lifestyle. This idea
is implemented through a fascinatingly purist design,
lending the motorcycle a highly concise appearance.
It impresses with a lightweight, slim and compact
chassis, which provides a highly agile appeal. An inline two-cylinder, 689-cc engine has been conclusively integrated into the overall well-proportioned
form, offering riders a powerful torque. This combination perfectly matches the overall concept of the
MT-07, since it adds a pleasant feeling of acceleration
to the riding comfort. With these features, this motorcycle fascinates both, experienced riders, who do not
insist on terms like “performance” or “top speed”, and
entry-level riders likewise. Thanks to its entirely successful design, it conveys a good sense of the pleasure
of riding a motorcycle to both target groups.

Xperia E3 standen besonders die Verlässlichkeit im
Gebrauch und eine damit einhergehende hohe Nutzerfreundlichkeit im Mittelpunkt. Design und Qualität
sollten sich in einem Produkt vereinen, das sich in das
Leben des Nutzers perfekt einfügt. Dieses Smartphone

in mind: an ergonomic headrest provides
a bathing experience that is particularly serene and produces a feeling of
lightness. The tub has been designed as
a monolith and made of the innovative
material DuraSolid A,, which pprovides
a pleasantly warm feel and high quality
matt look. It is available as a freestanding model and as a back-to-wall
and corner version for left or right. The
bathtub can be equipped with an unobtrusive air whirl system and optionally

The permanent exhibition “Autowerk – Portal to Production” offers guests insights into the
world of Volkswagen Group’s car manufaacturing. Seven full-scale cutaway models, which can
be viewed from all sides, illustrate the different production steps from the press plant to the
final quality control in a condensed, striiking way. The models aligned in individual portals
are authentic sections of the car bodies,, just like they can be found in the selected production
process. Each model is linked to a characteristic attribute, a typical tool used in production
and an interactive media station with im
mages and vividly presented information. The individual
vehicle “slices” visually add up to form a complete vehicle composed of the various brands
of the group. A room-sized media wall at the end of the portal series invites visitors to experience a virtual factory tour, while an inteeractive media table informs about the dimensions
of Volkswagen Group’s car production in
n terms of time, organisation, material and human
resources.
This exhibition excellently answers the question of how car production can be both vividly
showcased and presented in a didacticallly meaningful way. The idea of cutting the cars into
“slices” is innovative and highly fascinatting. It allows visitors to experience car manufacturing
from the inside, which is a lot of fun. Co

is thus presented in a highly captivating
g and appealing manner.

Frankfurt opens a creative space

primary school age. Inside a treehouselike architecture, a play and learning
trail offers a fun way to experience the

Individual spatial installations and
experimentation stations allow a physical experience of artistic strategies
such as irritation or transformation.
MINISCHIRN establishes a new format
in Germany’s exhibition landscape:
a permanent play and learning trail
with a design that enables children to
approach art independently.
The design of the project “Glamping in

Korea” by ArchiWorkshop / SpaceTongg
was inspired by models from nature.
The tent-like pavilion merges the poettic
shape and appearance of a pebble stoone
with the advantage of an individually
adjustable structural flooring system
based on the juxtaposition of modular
floors. The resulting tent structures
allow for versatile arrangements in
terms of functionality and aesthetic
appeal. They can transform into an
attractive exhibition hall just as easilyy
as a trade-fair pavilion. An art wall

With respect to spatial expression, the
Dorn Bratch in Modern Age

uses time latitude to create the concept
of space. Although an arc wall has no
superfluous moulding, visitors are able to
feel a quiet and gentle stream. However,
it is not a real stream, but a kind of
atmosphere created by sight and
sound effects.

The suit can easily be adjusted
to the height and handedness
of various workers and removed
quickly and safely in the event
of emergency. Yet, for all the
ergonomic refinements, FORTIS

The spatial experience can be changed
up with different artistic conceptions,

The highlight of the design is its ability to
switch between spatial functions, such as
museums, forums and parties, within the

The configuration of the passenger
compartment is optional and adaptable
to the tasks of a particular route and
the specifics of an urban environment.
High level of comfort and modern visual
solution enable the tram to meet the
needs of a large part of the population,
who travel daily from remote areas to the
urban city. This, in turn, addresses the
problem of traffic density in large cities
and supports a modern, eco-friendly and
comfortable urban environment.
R1 Atom Tram
m is the first three-section
fully low-floor tram made in Russia. The
absence of stair steps makes the tram
safer and minimises the time of boarding
and alighting from the tram. Besides, the
step-less design makes access to the
tram easy and convenient for the elderly,
anyone with impaired mobility and
parents with baby carriages.
In two decades, the company has

designers used the traditional
technique of bending metal on
modern furniture to represent this
remarkable craft which is about to
disappear and bring the spirit of
the hand-made back into life.
Taiwan is well-known for its
high quality manufacturing
technology and iron tracery can
be considered a native trade. The
various patterns of Taiwanese iron
tracery brought about a unique
street view and symbolised the
blossoming of the economy and
the prosperity of Taiwanese
society in the 1970s. Every house
would set up a tracery, both as
decoration and a prevention

Iron tracery was an iron handicraft
produced by senior masters who
would design the custom patterns
for their clients. The tracery could
be presented in more than one
hundred patterns with varied
geometry. Because the production
of handmade tracery was
considered time-consuming and
labour-intensive, factories started
to introduce machine-made
traceries that inevitably became
stiff and stereotyped. Gradually,
the older tracery masters became
obsolete and beautiful handmade
traceries began to disappear.
The designers found some
senior masters who were glad to
collaborate and bring back the
craft of handmade tracery
tracery. To
adapt and transform traditional
traceries into functional daily
objects at an accelerated pace,
the designers opted for the
techniques that were familiar to
the masters and work within this
parameter.
They put out a simple concept
– to turn the planar tracery into
stereoscopic structures and
cylindrical forms. In this way,
this substantially reduces the
communication time between
the designer and the producer,
and hence, the cost. These
advantages will help the industrial
transformation and bring back the
traditional handmade tracery into
daily life.

The design keynote of the new line is the
black Ural semi-precious stone in metal
frame, whose mirror surface literally
reflects the city. Most modern trams
have aerodynamic shapes and travel
with an average speed of 24 km/h in
cities. However, the external appearance
of the R1 Atom Tram
m was based on
a fundamentally different approach.
This approach focuses primarily on the
safety of city residents. The driver cab

Today robots have successfully stepped out of the realm of
fiction and become a reality, ushering in a new epoch in the area
of manual work. More and more steps in production are performed by robots. However, scepticism, doubts and reservations
still prevail among many people against these machines — often
stemming from fear of one day being replaced by a machine.
However, the LBR iiwa demonstrates what a robot that works
side by side with humans could look like: This iiwa lightweight
robot — “iiwa” stands for “intelligent industrial work assistant”
— has been conceived to support humans working in production
through direct interaction with them. The aim is a flexible division
of labour between humans and robots as part of a new production
concept. The robot is intended not only to perform tasks requiring
extreme precision, but also to make life easier for humans by relieving them of strenuous, monotonous and even dangerous tasks.

As with many of its fictitious robot colleagues, the design vocabulary of this complex industrial robot is organic and at least
remotely humanoid. The robot is modelled on the human arm,
making it look somewhat familiar and inspire trust at the same
time. Equipped with seven axes, the LBR iiwa also moves with
the graceful and smoothly flowing movements of a human arm.
Furthermore, it possesses interactive sensitivity for smooth operation. Thanks to its highly sensitive integrated sensors, the robot
can react very quickly to its environment — it is able to “feel” its
way towards objects, avoid obstacles automatically and withdraw
instantly when gently pushed away by a human worker to interrupt its work. A little nudge then suffices to make the robot go
back to work. In addition, the robot is also a quick learner — it
allows itself to be guided by hand into the desired position. The
coordinates of the new movement are then automatically saved in
the corresponding program.

in its form by giant soap bubbles. Floating on the wind, soap
bubblees induce a strange fascination in both children and adults.
