Sicherheitshinweise
4.1 Aufbewahrung der Betriebsanleitung
Betriebsanleitung sorgfältig lesen und am Einbauort des Gerätes aufbewahren.
Mitgeltende Dokumente und Betriebsanleitungen der anzuschließenden Geräte 
beachten.
4.2 Sichere Verwendung
Bei Betrieb der Leuchten:
 Sicherheitshinweise beachten.
 Nationale und örtliche Sicherheits- und Unfallverhütungsvorschriften beachten.
 Leuchte nur entsprechend der Leistungsdaten betreiben.
 Wartungsarbeiten bzw. Reparaturen, die nicht in der Betriebsanleitung beschrieben
sind, dürfen nicht ohne vorherige Abstimmung mit dem Hersteller durchgeführt 
werden.
 Beschädigungen können den Explosionsschutz aufheben.
 Jegliche Umbauten und Veränderungen an der Leuchte, welche nicht in dieser 
Betriebsanleitung beschrieben sind, sind nicht gestattet.
 Leuchte nur in unbeschädigtem, trockenem und sauberem Zustand einbauen und 
betreiben.
Vor Montage/Inbetriebnahme:
 Betriebsanleitung lesen.
 Montage- und Betriebspersonal ausreichend schulen.
 Sicherstellen, dass der Inhalt der Betriebsanleitung vom zuständigen Personal 
verstanden wird.
 Es gelten die nationalen Montage- und Errichtungsvorschriften 
(z. B. IEC/EN 60079-14).

5.1 Funktion
Funktion
Die Leuchte eignet sich zum Beleuchten von Betriebs- und Lagerstätten sowie für 
Straßen und Wege.
Das Gerät ist einsetztbar in explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen der Zone 1, 2, 21, 22 und
im sicheren Bereich. Das Gerät ist im Innen- und Außenbereich einsetztbar.

End of Life -Abschaltung
Das elektronische Vorschaltgerät Typ 6042/9..-. erfüllt die Anforderungen entsprechend IEC
61347-2-3 (Simulation des „end-of-life-Effekts“ von Leuchtstofflampen, „Test asymmetrische
Pulse“-Test 1 und „Test asymetrische Leistung“ - Test 2 entsprechend den Testbedingungen im
Entwurf IEC 60079-7 ed.4 Anhang H).

8.2 Montage / Demontage / Gebrauchslage
Bei Wandmontage ist der Zentralverschluss nach unten zu montieren. Die
Montagelage mit Lichtaustritt nach oben ist im Außenbereich untersagt.
Die Leuchten eignen sich für den Einsatz im Innen- und Außenbereich. Für den Einsatz
im Außenbereich empfehlen wir den Einbau eines Klimastutzens 8162/1 
der R.STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH. Mit dem Klimastutzen wird die Schutzart IP 64 in allen
Montagelagen eingehalten.
Die maximale Umgebungstemperatur darf nicht durch externe 
Wärmequellen überschritten werden.

HINWEIS
Bei der Montage der Leuchte mit den Deckenschienen auf plane Unterlage achten. 

Montage und Installation
R.STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH - Schienenprofil für Lichtbandmontage der
Langfeldleuchten EXLUX
Es erleichert die Montage und die Installation bei der Aneinanderreihung der Leuchten.
Das Schienenprofil kann auch zugleich als Kabelkanal verwendet werden.
Zur Anpassung der Leuchten an das Lochraster des Schienenprofils, bitte immer mit den
Montageschienen montieren.
8.3 Installation
Öffnen und Schließen der Leuchten
Gefahr
Gefahr durch Stromschlag!
Tödliche Verletzungen drohen!
Leuchten ohne Schalter dürfen nicht unter Spannung geöffnet werden 
(siehe Hinweisschild am Zentralverschluss)!
Die Standardleuchte ist mit einem Sicherheitsschalter ausgestattet.

Verschlusskappe des Zentralverschlusses entfernen. Zentralverschluss mit 
Steckschlüssel M 8, SW13 um eine viertel Umdrehung (90°) nach links bis zum Anschlag
drehen. Wanne abschwenken.
Schließen in umgekehrter Reihenfolge. Nach dem Schließen der Leuchtenwanne prüfen,
dass die Wanne einwandfrei auf der Dichtungskante liegt und die Pfeilspitze am 
Sechskant des Zentralverschlusses auf Markierung "Leuchte geschlossen" weist.
Verschlusskappe auf Zentralverschlussöffnung drücken (Staubschutz).
Beachten:
 Bei Ausführung ohne Schalter: Leuchte spannungsfrei schalten und vor 
wiedereinschalten sichern.
 Bei Ausführung mit Schalter: Durch das Betätigen des Zentralverschlusses wird die
Leuchte zwangsläufig spannungsfrei geschaltet.

 Netzanschluss L, N
 In geöffneter Endstellung und abgeklappter Wanne verhindert eine 
Wiedereinschaltsperre das Betätigen des Zentralverschlusses.
Bitte keine Gewalt anwenden!
Beim Schließen der Wanne wird der Zentralverschluss zum Betätigen freigegeben.

Öffnen der Reflektorplatte durch Aufdrücken des Sicherungsriegels. Reflektorplatte 
abschwenken.
Beim Schließen Reflektorplatte hochklappen und einrasten.
Netzanschluss
Maximale Klemmmöglichkeit der Anschlussklemmen beachten (siehe Kapitel 
„Technische Daten“). Bei den optionalen Schraubklemmen dürfen zwei Leiter pro
Klemmstelle geklemmt werden (Rein-Raus-Verdrahtung).
Beachten:






Die Klemmung an der „Ex e“ Klemme muss sehr sorgfältig durchgeführt werden.
Keine Isolierung des Leiters unterklemmen!
Leiter nicht vertauschen!
Regeln der Technik bei Anschluss des Leiters beachten!
Leiter muss fest angeklemmt sein.
Bei optionalen Schraubklemmen: Schrauben fest anziehen 
(2 Nm oder 0,7 Nm bei nicht benutzten Klemmstellen) und prüfen!
 Klemmabdeckung bei optionaler Schraubklemme muss zum Anklemmen der Leiter
nicht entfernt werden!
 Durch eine geeignete Auswahl der verwendeten Leitungen sowie durch die Art der
Verlegung ist sicherzustellen, dass die maximal zulässigen Leitertemperaturen nicht
überschritten werden!

Montage und Installation
Kabeleinführung
Die Standardleuchte ist immer mit 3 Einführungsbohrungen M 25 x 1,5 versehen und mit
1 Kabeleinführung und 2 Verschlussstopfen bestückt.
Zur Einführung von Kabel und Leitungen werden gesondert bescheinigte Kabel- und 
Leitungseinführungen (gemäß Richtlinie 94/9/EG oder IECEx CoC) - Risiko 
mechanischer Gefährdung „hoch“ - unter Beachtung der Typschildangabe 
(Zündschutzart, IP-Schutzart, Leitungsdurchmesser, Anzugsdrehmoment, 
max. zulässige Temperaturen bzw. weitere Verwendungsbedingungen) bzw. 
Rohrleitungssysteme (Conduite) der Firma R. Stahl verwendet.
Nicht benutzte Einführungsöffnungen werden mit form- oder kraftschlüssig 
gesicherten Verschlussstopfen verschlossen und gewährleisten mindesten den 
Schutzgrad IP64 (siehe Typschild).
Bei den Kabel- und Leitungseinführungen der R. STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH Typ 8161
muss die Betriebsanleitung dieser Kabel- und Leitungseinführungen beachtet werden.

Kabel- und Leitungseinführung M20 x 1,5 Anschlussgewinde 2,3 Nm 

Es ist darauf zu achten, dass für Kabel- und Leitungseinführungen und 
Verschlussstopfen, die vom Anwender beigestellt werden, eine Zulassung nach 
Richtlinie 94/9/EG (ATEX) bzw. eine IECEx (CoC) vorliegt und die zugehörige 
Betriebsanleitung beachtet wird.
Beachten:
 Kabeleinführungen und Verschlussstopfen können untereinander vertauscht werden.
 Klemmbereich der Kabeleinführung mit dem Durchmesser des einzuführenden Kabels
überprüfen.
 Druckschraube der Kabeleinführung fest anziehen.
 Alle nicht benutzten Öffnungen mit zertifizierten Verschlussstopfen verschließen.
 Metall-Kabeleinführung ist über eine Metalladapterplatte bzw. Metalladapter mit dem
innenliegenden Schutzleitersystem (PE-Klemme) zu verbinden, um 
Potentialunterschiede zu vermeiden.
IP-Schutzart ist Teil der Explosionsschutz-Maßnahme!
Bei Außenmontage empfehlen wir den Einsatz eines Klimastutzens der 
R. STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH, Typ 8162. Er kann anstelle eines Verschlussstopfens
eingesetzt werden (M 25 x 1,5). Der Klimastutzen kann an einer beliebigen 
Kabeleinführungsöffnung montiert werden und hält die Schutzart IP64 ein. 
Bei Verwendung des Klimastutzen ist die minimale Umgebungstemperatur -20 °C.

Inbetriebnahme
Einsetzen und Austausch von Lampen mit Zweistiftsockel G13
Beide Lampensockel der Lampe in die Fassungsführungsschlitze bis zum Anschlag 
einsetzen. Die Lampe durch Rechts- oder Linksdrehen in Betriebsstellung bringen. 
Ausbau in umgekehrter Reihenfolge.

Beachten:
 Die Lampensockel müssen unbeschädigt sein.
 Die Fassungen haben einen federnden Längenausgleich von je 2,5 mm.
 Auf Sitz der Lampe achten; nach dem Drehen ist der Lampensitz verriegelt.
Elektrostatische Entladung
Es ist darauf zu achten, dass keine elektrostatische Aufladung entstehen kann, z.B. bei
Errichtung in Bereichen in denen dies durch unbeabsichtigte Reibung mit der Kleidung
bei Vorbeigehen geschehen kann. Bei der Installation in Bereichen mit Partikelströmen
kann es in Abhängigkeit der Teilchengröße ebenfalls zu elektrischen Aufladungen 
kommen. Bitte geeignete Gegenmaßnahmen treffen, eventuell Rücksprache mit dem
Hersteller halten.

Isolationsprüfung der Beleuchtungsanlage
Eine Gleichspannungs-Isolationsmessung in Stromkreisen mit der Leuchte ist bis 
1000 V DC, Messstrom 1 mA, zulässig:
zwischen N- und PE-Leiter
zwischen L- und PE-Leiter
zwischen L- und N-Leiter nicht erlaubt und auch nicht sinnvoll, da die 
Eingangsbeschaltung des elektronischen Vorschaltgerätes gemessen wird
und damit inkorrekte Ergebnisse erzielt werden.
Für eine erfolgreiche Messung zwischen L und N muss das elektronische Vorschaltgerät
vom Netz getrennt werden, d. h. bei dieser Leuchte durch Betätigen des 
Zentralverschlusses die Leuchte mittels Trennschalter spannungsfrei schalten.

Hinweise für den Betrieb von elektronischen Vorschaltgeräten
„End of life“-Verhalten von Lampen
Die Leuchte ist mit einem elektronischen Vorschaltgerät mit EOL-Abschaltung 
ausgestattet.
Die Lampen werden bei erreichen des Ende der Lebensdauer abgeschaltet. Dies macht
den Austausch der Lampen erforderlich.
Wir empfehlen einen rechtzeitigen Austausch der Lampen entsprechend der Vorgaben
der jeweiligen Lampenhersteller!

4.1 Operating instructions storage
Read the operating instructions carefully and store them at the mounting location of 
the device.
Observe applicable documents and operating instructions of the devices to 
be connected.
4.2 Safe use
When operating the lights:
 Observe safety instructions.
 Observe national and local safety and accident prevention regulations.
 Only run the light according to its performance data.
 Servicing/maintenance work or repairs which are not described in the operating 
instructions must not be performed without prior agreement with the manufacturer.
 Any damage may render explosion protection null and void.
 Any modifications and at the light fitting, which are not described in the operating 
instruction, are not permitted.
 The device may only be fitted and used if it is in an undamaged, dry and clean state.
 In case of a failure of a LED a further use in hazardous area is unrisky. The 
manufacturer recommends sending in the inspection light for repair immediately.
Before assembly/putting into service:
 Read through the operating instructions.
 Give adequate training to the assembly and operating personnel.
 Ensure that the contents of the operating instructions are fully understood by the 
personnel in charge.
 The national assembly and installation regulations (e.g. IEC/EN 60079-14) apply.

Disconnection of the light
When opening the light
Switch with safety lock; when opening the central lock, all poles of the voltage supply to the ballast
are disconnected; contacts of the switching element are NC contacts, they can only be switched
on again when the lamp cover and the central locking system are closed.
In case of a lamp fault, the electronic ballast disconnects the defective lamp from the power
supply.
End of life switch
The electronic ballast, type 6042/9..-. fulfills the requirements according to IEC 61347-2-3
(simulation of the "end of life effect" of fluorescent lamps, "asymmetric pulse test 1" and

Wall mounting must be performed with the central lock directed downwards.
Outdoors, the mounting position with light emission upwards is not allowed.
These luminaires are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. For outdoor use, we 
recommend to install a 8162/1 breather by R.STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH. The breather
guarantees compliance with degree of protection IP64 in all mounting positions.
The maximum ambient temperature must not be exceeded by 
external heat sources.
Observe the safety instructions for mounting:

When mounting the luminaire using top rails, make sure that the mounting surface is flat.
Otherwise, the enclosure might be mounted in a warped/twisted way. The result is 

In case of point suspension using pipe clamps, R.STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH does not
guarantee the strength and tightness of the luminaire!
For pipe clamp mounting, use the solution of R.STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH with 
integrated mounting rail providing reliable and stable four-point fixing!

R.STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH rail profile for continuous row mounting of the linear
fluorescent luminaires EXLUX
It facilitates the row mounting and installing of luminaires.
The rail profile can be also used as cable duct.
Always use mounting rails for mounting to adjust the luminaires to the hole matrix of the
rail profile.
8.3 Installation
Opening and closing the luminaires
Danger
Risk of electric shock!
Risk of fatal injuries!
Luminaires without switch must not be opened when they are supplied with
power (see information plate on the central lock)!
The standard luminaire is equipped with a safety switch.

Remove the closing cap of the central lock. Turn the central lock with socket wrench M8,
wrench size 13, by a quarter turn (90°) to the left until the stop. Swivel the lighting trough.
Proceed in reverse order to close. After closing the luminaire trough, check that the 
luminaire trough lies correctly on the sealing edge and the arrowhead on the hexagon of
the central lock points to the marking "Luminaire closed".
Push the closing cap onto the central lock (dust protection).
Note:
 For version without switch: Disconnect the luminaire from the power supply and secure
against being switched on.
 For version with switch: The luminaire is positively disconnected from the power supply
by actuating the central lock.

 In opened end position and with lighting trough hinged away, an anti-pumping device
prevents the central lock from being actuated.
Please do not use force!
When the lighting trough is closed, the central lock is released.
Opening and closing the reflector plate

All connections and wiring must be disconnected from the power supply.
Secure the connections against unauthorized switching.

Open the reflector plate by pressing the safety latch. Swivel the reflector plate.
When closing, flip up the reflector plate and snap into place.
Electrical connection
Observe the maximum clamping possibility of the connecting terminals (see chapter
"Technical data"). In optional screw-type terminals, two conductors per clamping unit can
be clamped (ingoing and outgoing wiring).
Note:






Clamping at the "Ex e" terminal must be carried out very carefully.
Do not clamp any part of the conductor insulation!
Do not interchange the conductors!
Observe the technical regulations when connecting the conductor!
The conductor must be firmly clamped.
For optional screw-type terminals: Firmly tighten screws (2 Nm or 0.7 Nm for clamping
units unused) and check!
 You do not need to remove the terminal covering of the optional screw-type terminal
to clamp the conductor!
 Ensure that the maximum permissible conductor temperatures are not exceeded by
performing a suitable selection of electric lines used and means of running them!

Cable gland
The standard luminaire is always equipped with 3 M25 x 1.5 bores, 1 cable gland and 
2 stopping plugs.
For entering the cables and electric lines, specially certified cable glands (according to
Directive 94/9/EC or IECEx CoC) - risk of mechanical hazard "high" - in compliance with
rating plate information (type of protection, IP degree of protection, cable diameter, 
tightening torque, max. admissible temperatures or other conditions of use) or pipeline
systems (conduits) of R. Stahl are used.
Unused entry openings are closed by means of stopping plugs in a form-locking or 
force-locking manner and guarantee at least the level of protection IP64 (see type label).
For cable glands of R. STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH Type 8161, observe the operating 
instructions of these cable glands.
Tightening torques R.STAHL Schaltgräte GmbH Type 8161:
Cable glands M20 x 1.5 connection thread 2.3 Nm pressure screw 1.5 Nm
Cable glands M25 x 1.5 connection thread 3.0 Nm pressure screw 2.0 Nm
Make sure that cable glands and stopping plugs provided by the user are certified to 
Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX) or IECEx (CoC) and the associated operating instructions are
observed.
Note:
 Cable glands and stopping plug can be interchanged.
 Compare the clamping range of the cable glands with the diameter of the cable to 
be entered.
 Firmly tighten the pressure screw of the cable gland.
 Seal all unused openings with certified stopping plugs.
 The metal cable gland must be connected to the internal protective conductor system
(PE terminal) via a metal adapter plate or metal adaptor to avoid potential differences.
IP degree of protection is part of the explosion protection measure!
In case of external mounting, we recommend the use of a breather of R. STAHL 
Schaltgeräte GmbH, Type 8162. It can be used instead of a stopping plug (M 25 x 1.5).
The breather can be mounted at any cable gland opening and complies with the degree
of protection IP64. The minimum ambient temperature for the use of the 
breather is -20 °C.

Commissioning
Fitting and removing lamos with bi-pin base G13
Insert both the lamp bases into the holder guide slots until the stop is reached. Move lamp
to its operating position by turning it to the right or the left. Remove in opposite direction.

Important notes:
 The lamp bases and pins must be undamaged.
 The holders have a spring-loaded length adjustment facility of 2.5 mm each.
 Make sure that the lamp has been fitted properly. When it has been turned, the lamp
is locked in position.
Electrostatic discharge
Make sure that no electrostatic charges can be formed, for example when installation
takes place in areas in which accidental friction with clothing can take place while walking
past it. When installation takes place in areas where particle flows occur, electric charges
may also be formed as a function of the particle size. Please take appropriate counter
measures in consultation with the manufacturer, if necessary.

Commissioning
Before commissioning the luminaires make sure that

the luminaire is not damaged
there are no foreign bodies inside the device
the connection chamber is clean
all screws and nuts are tightened according to regulations

Danger due to non-certified accessories!
Explosion protection is endangered!
Cable entries, plugs and stopping plugs must:
• be suitable for the operating conditions (see type label)
• have the technical accordance regarding the listed standards in the certificate
of light fitting or be certified separately
Insulation test of the lighting system
An insulation measurement of direct voltage in electric circuits with the luminaire is 
permissible up to 1000 V DC, measuring current 1 mA:
between
N and PE conductors
between
L and PE conductors
between
L conductor and N conductor not allowed and also not appropriate as
the input wiring of the electronic ballast is measured and thus incorrect
results are produced.
For a successful measurement between L and N, the electronic ballast must be 
disconnected from the mains, i.e. disconnect this luminaire from supply by actuating the
central lock of the luminaire by means of the disconnector.

Do not forget:
 Reconnect the N conductor before applying voltage!
 When carrying out insulation measurements, the disconnect terminal of the 
N conductor may be opened only if the mains voltage is disconnected!
 Before commissioning, make sure that the connection of the N conductor is correct!
 During operation of the lighting system, do not disconnect the N conductor alone/first!

10.1 Operation
Notes for operation of electronic ballasts
"End of life“ behaviour of lamps
The luminaire is equipped with an electronic ballast with EOL disconnection.
The lamps are switched off when the end of life is reached. This makes it necessary to
replace the lamps.
We recommend timely replacement of the lamps according to the specifications of the respective lamp manufacturer!
10.2 Troubleshooting
Faults
What if:
the luminaire is not lit when connected to the mains?






Is the lamp correctly inserted?
Is the lamp defective?
Is the ballast defective?
Is the switch defective?
Has the EB safety shutdown responded due to defective/used lamps?
Did you do a "Reset" (voltage disconnection) after safety shutdown on the EB? 
Then the device can be restarted.
 Is the luminaire sealed according to regulations?
11 Maintenance and repair
11.1 Maintenance

Secure the connections against unauthorized switching.
 Consult the relevant national regulations to determine the type and extent of 
inspections.
 Plan the intervals so that any defects in the equipment which may be anticipated are
promptly detected.

Maintenance and repair
The following must be checked during maintenance work:









the firm seating of the clamped electric lines
cracks in plastic enclosures
damage to the seals
damage to the luminaire cover
replace lamps?
cable gland(s) correct and tight
check lamp holders for colour change - replace if present
check lamp holders for stiffness - replace if present
check cables for damage - replace if present
WARNING
Danger due to defective luminaire
Risk of severe or fatal injuries!
Take the luminaire out of operation if it is damaged.
Repair damage before recommissioning.
11.2 Maintenance
X Cleaning must be carried out using only a moist cloth.
X When cleaning with a damp cloth use water or mild, non-abrasive, non-scratching
cleaning agents.
X Never use aggressive cleaning agents or solvents.
NOTICE
The light fitting is labeled with the note “Clean only with a damp cloth”.
11.3 Repair
Replacing the luminaire cover

Open the luminaire.
Swivel the lighting trough backwards by 180°.
Lift the lighting trough to detach it from the hinge.
Insert new lighting trough into the hinge.
All hinges must engage properly.
Close the luminaire.
Observe safety notes!
When replacing further spare parts, observe the documentation attached.
