Prussian Infantry regiments were not actually
Prussian Infantry regiments were not actually numbered during this period but generally went by the name of their ‘owner’ or Colonel. The list given below gives the regiments in the order in which they appeared in the 1806 army list along with the name of their owner in 1756. As time and further information allow, I will add names and dates of other names used for the same regiment. These numbers are those used on the flag sheets to identify each regiment. In the mean time you might find further information of the excellent 7 Years War Project website at http://www.kronoskaf.com/syw/index.php?title=Main_Page Prussian Musketeer Regiments (Regiments are named as per their owner in 1756) Nr. 1 von Winterfeldt Nr. 2 von Kanitz Nr. 3 Anhalt-Dessau Nr. 4 von Kalnein Nr. 5 von Braunschweig Nr. 6 Grenadier Garde (also known as von Retzow) Nr. 7 von Braunschweig-Bevern Nr. 8 von Amstell Nr. 9 Quadt von Wickeradt Nr. 10 von Knobloch Nr. 11 von Below Nr. 12 Erbprinz von Hessen-Darmstadt Nr. 13 von Itzenplitz Nr. 14 von Lehwaldt Nr. 15 Leibgarde Nr. 16 Graf zu Dohna Nr. 17 von Manteuffel Nr. 18 Prinz von Preußen Nr. 19 Markgraf Carl Nr. 20 von Zastrow Nr. 21 von Hülsen Nr. 22 Prinz Moritz von Anhalt Nr. 23 von Forcade de Biaix Nr. 24 von Schwerin Nr. 25 von Kalckstein Nr. 26 von Meyerinck Nr. 27 von Kleist Nr. 28 Herault de Hautcharmoy Nr. 29 von Schultze Nr. 30 von Blanckensee Nr. 31 von Lestwitz Nr. 32 von Tresckow Nr. 34 Prinz Ferdinand von Preußen Prussian Fusilier Regiments (Regiments are named as per their owner in 1756) Nr. 33 Baron de la Motte Fouqué Nr. 35 Prinz Heinrich von Preußen Nr. 36 von Münchow Nr. 37 von Kurssell Nr. 38 von Brandes Nr. 39 Jung Braunschweig Nr. 40 von Kreytzen Nr. 41 Graf von Wied zu Neuwied Nr. 42 Markgraf von Brandenburg Nr. 43 von Kalsow Nr. 44 von Jungkenn Müntzer Nr. 45 von Dossow Nr. 46 Erbprinz von Württemberg Nr. 47 von Wietersheim Nr. 48 Erbprinz von Hessen-Cassel Nr. 49 von Sers Regiments #50-59 were created after the end of the Seven Years War but were in existence throughout the Napoleonic Wars.
