DEUTSCHE WERKSTaTTEN RWK Kalk AG, Hilden Interior construction and fittings Berlin architects Becker, Gewers, Kühn & Kühn commissioned plans for office units and executive areas. The plans also included meeting rooms and a kitchen area on the third floor for a company cafeteria. RWK Kalk AG awarded the entire interior construction work to Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau. This proved an enormous challenge in project management, particularly in light of the extremely short time frame allowed for construction: within a period of only nine weeks, the ceilings, walls and doors, air conditioning, electrical installations, lighting and smoke detection technology were all to be installed, not to mention all the furnishings. Solid wood parquet was laid in the reception areas and in the restaurant. The kitchenettes were realised in tile; the kitchen was given a tile floor with a non-skid surface according to valid requirements. All the various work required a high degree of organisation and coordination of third-party vendors. Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau created the reception desk at its own premises. The curved wooden partition at the back conceals the mailroom whilst the curved glass of the counter underscores the room—s structure. The use of beech, glass and stainless steel materials convey warmth and modernity alike.
