Erforderliche Kompetenzen:
Grundlegende Englischkenntnisse, Offenheit, Flexibilität,
Lernbereitschaft, Eigeninitiative, Teamfähigkeit
Projektarten: Kinder- und Bildungsprojekte; Projekte im
Bereich Tierschutz und Renovierung.

Einsatzgebiete: Suva (Hauptstadt), Levuka
(Provinz Lomaiviti, Hauptstadt der Eastern Division)
Vermittlung und Vorbereitung durch Grenzenlos:
Hilfe bei der Reiseorganisation, Seminartag und
Kontakt mit einem/einer Rückkehrer_in.
Eigenanreise, danach 1-wöchiges Orientierungsseminar. Unterkunft und Verpflegung bei Gastfamilien. Betreuung während des gesamten
Einsatzes. Nach der Rückkehr: Auswertung und
Returnee-Meeting durch Grenzenlos.

Die Experience-Volunteering-Programme von Grenzenlos sind offen für alle zwischen 18 und 99 Jahren
– unabhängig von Vorkenntnissen und Erfahrungen.
AIA steht für „Active in Asia“. Die AIA-Programme
sind gut betreute Einstiegsprogramme für alle, die
erstmals einen kurzzeitigen Freiwilligendienst in
einer fremden Kultur planen. Ideal sind 1-3 Monate
(für langfristigere Einsätze siehe ICYE!). Den Einsatz
verrichtest Du in Deinem Projekt zumeist mit
anderen internationalen Volunteers, die Unterbringung erfolgt in Gemeinschaftsunterkünften.
AIA beruht auf Programm-Modulen: Jedes Partnerland hat eine Auswahl an interessanten Tätigkeiten
und ergänzenden Kursen, die Du selbst wochenweise zusammenstellen kannst. Du kannst auf diese
Art auch mehrere Länder kombinieren!

Über Grenzenlos
Grenzenlos ist ein gemeinnütziger österreichischer Verein,
der seit 1949 zusammen mit seinen Partnerorganisationen
Freiwilligenaustausch mit aller Welt organisiert. Ziel ist die
Förderung von Frieden, Toleranz und Völkerverständigung.
Seit 2009 engagiert sich Grenzenlos auch verstärkt für die
Inlandsarbeit durch Schulworkshops, Erwachsenenbildung
und integrative Programme.
Über die Partnerorganisation
Active in Asia wird durchgeführt von The Green Lion, einem
Netzwerk von Organisationen in verschiedenen asiatischen
Ländern, die sehr ähnliche Programme anbieten. Geachtet
wird auf gute persönliche Begleitung, wodurch die Activein-Asia-Programme auch für junge Leute empfehlenswert
sind, die erstmals auf eigene Faust unterwegs sind.
Die Mittelverwendung
Grenzenlos berechnet als Non-Profit-Organisation die Gebühren auf Selbstkostenbasis. Bei Active in Asia werden pro
Person € 390,- für die Grenzenlos- Arbeit verwendet, € 40,für Überweisungskosten, und der Rest geht an The Green
Lion. Davon führen die Organisationen einerseits ihre Programme durch und entwickeln neue, andererseits finanzieren sie lokale Schulen und Kinderheime mit.

Du kannst darin Land, Zeitraum, Tätigkeitsbereich und sonstige Wünsche angeben. Anmeldungen bitte bis 3 Monate
vor Ausreise! Spätere Anmeldungen werden entgegengenommen, aber ohne Garantie auf ein Vorbereitungsseminar.
3. 3. Vermittlung: Wir bitten Dich noch um eine Selbstbeschreibung für unsere Partnerorganisation. Die Zusage
erfolgt nach einigen Werktagen.
4. Vorbereitung: Dann erhältst Du
- eine offizielle Aufnahmebestätigung,
- die Einladung zu einem eintägigen Vorbereitungsseminar,
- Kontakt zu einem oder einer Rückkehrer_in,
- Tipps für die Reiseorganisation (Flug, Visum, Versicherung
und Impfungen) und
- ggf. Zusatz-Infos über Partnerorganisation und Projekt.

FIJI INTRODUCTION WEEK

Fiji's culture is a rich cocktail of indigenous Fijian, Indo-Fijian, Asian
and European traditions. While indigenous Fijian culture and
traditions are very lively and part of everyday life for the majority of
Fiji's population, Fijian society has evolved over the past century
with the introduction of traditions such as Indian and Chinese as
well as significant influences from Europe and Fiji's Pacific
neighbors, particularly Tonga and Samoa. Therefore, the various
cultures of Fiji have come together to create a unique multicultural
national identity. The Fijians have a strong sense of their own
culture and customs. The locals are generally very friendly and
welcoming. However, Fijians are very proud people that have a
highly developed sense of honor. In the villages, the tribal alliances
are still intact and money does not play a significant role in their
daily lives. Visitors are not always accustomed to the slow work
pace (they call it "Fiji time"). Do not worry too much about this;
rather
adjust
yourself
to
the
local
conditions.
The Fiji introduction week will get you familiar with the Fijian
culture. After your landing, you will be picked up and brought to
the Green Lion Volunteering Center.You will be staying (multishare) at our very own center where you will be receive all your
tasty vegetarian meals. During the week you will learn some basic
local Fijian during language lessons, and get acquainted with the
Fijian cuisine by participating in traditional Fijian cooking classes.
Art classes are also part of this week to set your your creativity
loose. In this week you will contribute to a rewarding volunteer
project which supports local communities.

FIJI TEACHING PROGRAM

The children in Fiji are in desperate need of two types of teachers,
those with experience and those without, we have found both can
make very significant and worthwhile contributions. The
experienced teacher will find the freedom to be creative and design
their own lesson plans, a refreshing change for some of our more
mature volunteers, who tell us it takes them back to the “good old
days.”Those with less or no experience will have whatever support
and guidance is needed from our Teaching Centre, a relaxed
environment matching the Fijian way of doing things, but with up
to date teaching methods from experienced teachers.
You have to love children and understand their behavior, as you
will be surrounded with loads of them every day and their
friendliness can sometimes become over exuberant, but they are
children after all.

FIJI SPORTS COACH & EDUACTION
The Green Lion's newest destination is located in the heart of the
South Pacific; Fiji. Fiji is blessed with 333 tropical islands that are
home to happiness and culture.

FIJI KINDERGARTEN PROJECT
Suva
We will support several kindergarten projects in the island of Vitti
Levu ( the mainland of Fiji) for local children of about 4 to 5 years
old who are right at the start of their school careers, all mainly from
poor villages. The local children are warm and affectionate and
would
rather
spend
time
playing
than
learning.
This project gives you the chance to encourage children to learn
and grow creatively. Apart from teaching them language and
communication skills, you have a unique opportunity to sow seeds
at this tender age from which they stand to benefit for years to
come. As you spend time teaching the local children, you will be
embraced by and become an important part of the local
community.

SPEZIELLE MODULE
FIJI ORGANIC FARMING PROGRAM
Levuka
Get a taste of what it’s like to be Fijian farmer. Most farmers cannot
afford expensive machinery and are using traditional methods of
ploughing with animals and hands on work. You will help with their
work which will include feeding animals, planting seeds and other
farming activities.

FIJI CONSTRUCTION/RENOVATION PROJECT
Communities Renovation/Construction project was support the
village communities center such as the Village School, (we also
intend to build our own cultural village and center), Village
Playground, Public Library etc. We will make a difference for the
Local villages and children by support them to have better living
conditions.

FIJI TURTLE SANCTUARY AND RESCUE CENTER
Levuka
The Turtle Conservation project is located on the beautiful island of
Ovalau (Levuka), which is a 30-45 minute boat ride from mainland
Fiji (Vitti Levu). The project is in its early stages and volunteers will
contribute to collecting vital baseline data on the turtle population
on the island and nearby islands.

FIJI MARINE CONSERVATION

We will conduct scientific baseline data surveys of reef areas,
mapping the sea grass beds and mangrove fringes of the region.
We also aim to locate turtle nesting beaches on Levuka Island and
the neighboring islands and help to create seasonally protected
areas.
