Issue III Student Council Dillon Thomas Editorial In this meeting really about the most reliable people we can trust doing things for our school or a rough house party? Teachers have to constantly tell them to be quiet. All you parents out there: do you really know what goes on in these meetings? Well if not you're about to find out. They recite rowdy cheers. Some kids do not have good grades and will be put on probation. Some people are not organized and do not have papers in on time. Do you want student counsel representatives to be organized? Some of our students are nervous to say what they have in front of the council. Can we trust some of these people? People are running for Webmaster but I don't think that some of these people should. I mean, just because they've made a web page with their mom does that mean we should put them in charge of such a big part of our school? The leaders of the counsel are unorganized, unsure of what to talk about, and are talking about things that have already happened. They also just talk on and on about the same things. The heads of student counsel are only girls: why should we only have girls' opinions? Why not both genders' opinions? Our class representatives don't fulfill their duties as to tell us about the things that go on. They may have two meetings a month, which means more responsibly. Can they fulfill their duties? We will be having another dance in the gym. Should they make the dances November 10th, 2004 shorter? They may bring food in, but is that safe? Some people may be allergic to some food. At the dance are you being ripped off? They buy the drinks at low prices and sell them for more. The next dance they say may be around Christmas or Valentines Day. If nobody danced at the dance then why should it be called a dance or why should they have one at all? They need more money for better equipment for other school activities. We may have a school wide fundraiser for the dance. They are thinking about canned food drive, but why not one school wide? They are also thinking about a penny drive in February. Editor's note: These are one observer's opinions. Please don't take them personally! November is a slow news-month, so there will be no new issue next week, and all staff members shouldn't come next week. Thanks! There are tons of things you could do to jazz up an old routine, so why don’t you try a few? Pisces: You’re in the mood for making new friends but lets face it, you stink at it. I know you’ve heard this before, but becoming involved in something you’re interested in really helps you meet new people. Aries: You’re in a great mood even if your friends do not share it. Try to cheer them up but also hang out with other happy people incase you start to feel a little depressed, too. Taurus: You would rather be doing something else than what ever you’re doing at the moment so you’re likely to get angry this week. Calm yourself down by doing whatever you want for an hour each day. Gemini: No problems this week, you feel confident and in control. You know what you want and how to get it so right now is the perfect time to start. Cancer: Even though it’s freezing cold outside you love this weather because you know how to handle it. If you can just think of all your problems like that you’ll soon be on easy street. Leo: Cheer up, Leo! Remember that when one door closes another door opens, so don’t make a hurried decision, there’ll be plenty of opportunities in the future. Virgo: You’re usually good at getting what you want, but there’s something you’ve been aiming at for a while that you haven’t gotten yet. Why don’t you take a break, you can always try again later. Libra: Ok Libra, it is time to let it go. There’s something that’s been taking up all of the room in your brain but if you stop obsessing you’ll feel better soon, I promise. Scorpio: Your best friend is driving you nuts. All the homework you have is making you go insane. You have a day off school this week, why don’t you make the most of this much-needed break. Sagittarius: You’ve been over working and over stressing. Remember that good things will come to those who wait. Capricorn: You’ve been feeling kind of depressed lately but don’t give up. Think of all the people you can trust and talk to one or two of them about something that has been bothering you. Life is Like a Box of Chocolates By Chelsea Arnold Have you noticed all of the people in our school carrying boxes of candy around? Have you wondered why? Well, I’m here to answer your questions. If you see someone selling chocolates or Warheads, then buy some from them! They are part of the schools musical arts. The students in band are selling Warheads to help fund for their trip to Disney Land at the end of the year. The students in choir are selling chocolates and other assorted goodies to help funds for their uniforms to wear to all of their performances through out the year. All of these students would be thrilled if you bought something from them, because 50% of all proceeds go to a good cause. The just looking for something to tide you over till lunch time, stop one of those wonderful people carrying those heavy boxes of delicious goodies, and buy something from them! I promise that you won’t regret it! Editor's note: Candy sales on school grounds will not be permitted second semester. Spirit Week Victoria Reyes and Brianna Bjerke Spirit Week was a huge success! All of those who participated made it very fun. Thanks to the Student Council for making it possible! The next Spirit Week will most likely be next semester. Freaky Friday Dance Victoria Reyes and Brianna Bjerke The dance was a hit! Even if you didn’t dance, you could go to the new Chat Room. There was also a picture booth where you could get your picture taken with your friends. Thanks to the Student Council for making it possible! The Gnome Victoria Reyes It all started with that awful garden gnome. I first saw it in the second-hand shop. Its chipped, faded paint and enigmatic smile fooled me into thinking it would make a charming, funky yard ornament. I never would have believed anyone who tried to tell me what buying it would lead to. Wow, I thought. What an awesome yard ornament! That gnome would look just perfect in from of the big oak tree in front of candy is only a dollar a piece, so if your Halloween stock is running low or you’re my house. The thing I didn't know about that gnome was that it was HAUNTED!!! As soon as I took it out of the box, I heard a crackling. It reminded me of the crackling of bones. That was strange, I thought. When I set the gnome down, it moved its arms and legs. I believe I was dreaming, so I cleaned up my mess and immediately lay down in my bed. When I woke up later, the gnome was leaning over me! I pinched myself to make sure it was true, and then let out a blood-curdling scream. I know I locked the door, plus I had the rest of the house still locked up. But then I turned and looked. He had broken my bedroom window! That very instant, I got the box, put the gnome back in it, took it back to the store, and went back to my house to repair my window. When the sales clerk asked why I was returning it, I just said I didn't like the way it didn't match my porch. They took it back as soon as I said this. From then on, I have awakened with the image of that gnome. Answers to the Riddler: Number one: Jack and Molly are fish, their owner's dog knocked over their bowl. Number two: It's daytime. Number three: The man jumped out of a plane, the package is a parachute, and it failed to open. Last Week: The person who makes it doesn’t need it. The person who buys it doesn’t use it. The person who uses it does so without noticing. A coffin! This unusual natural phenomenon is capable of speaking in any different language. An echo! What can you only keep once you have given it? A promise In Dibbleton, Oklahoma you can't take a picture of a man with a wooden leg. Why? Only a camera can take a picture!
