Our Mission Statement
Holy Spirit is a community of believers that aspires to be
formed by the values of the Gospel and finds its strength in
coming together to celebrate Eucharist and to be transformed
into the Body of Christ. As a Eucharistic People, we who are
being nourished must share the bread we have with others,
wash the feet of our brothers and sisters and welcome all who
come, as Christ Himself.

November 4.
Catholic social teaching strongly
promotes active citizenship.
Responsible citizens can help
shape a world committed to
protecting human life and dignity
and promoting justice and the
peace of Christ. "In the Catholic
tradition, responsible citizenship
is a virtue, and participation in
political life is a moral
obligation" (Forming Consciences
for Faithful Citizenship, No. 13;
USCCB). Watch election year
videos at www.kscathconf.org

“Silent Strength” prayer group is
dedicated to praying for our Catholic
children, friends and relatives who
have fallen away from the church.
We meet on the 1st & 3rd Monday of
the month at 7:20 am in the Martha
and Mary room.
Today we celebrate All Souls’ Day, remembering those who
have gone before us and now see God face-to-face. At the conclusion
of the Mass of Christian Burial we pray, “May the angels lead you into
paradise; may the martyrs come to welcome you and take you to the
holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem.” May these words comfort
us as we recall the people from Holy Spirit who have gone before us
during this past year:

THANK YOU JESUS!
All students of Holy Spirit School and SOR
were asked to ponder the many gifts they have
received from God. They wrote one of the gifts they
are thankful for on a leaf now used in the church
decor the month of November. Challenge your child to
find their leaf and take time to talk to them about their
many blessed gifts.
Now it's your turn! Everyone, young and old,
is asked to be a part of our month of Thanksgiving. At
the table in the Narthex, you will find paper, pens and
a basket to put your thanks into, no names necessary.
Each Sunday at Mass, the "BASKET OF THANKS"
will be included in the Offertory. All leaves of thanks
will be offered at the Mass on Thanksgiving Day. Join
our month of gratitude!

SISTER M. TERESA, FSGM
DIRECTOR of SCHOOL OF RELIGION
School of Religion
Today we celebrate the feast of All Souls, on which
we remember and pray for all the faithful departed. The
custom of praying for the deceased is rooted in the second
book of Maccabees in the Old Testament.
“Turning to supplication, they prayed that the sinful deed might be
fully blotted out. The noble Judas exhorted the people to keep themselves
free from sin, for they had seen with their own eyes what had happened
because of the sin of those who had fallen. He then took up a collection
among all his soldiers, amounting to two thousand silver drachmas, which he
sent to Jerusalem to provide for an expiatory sacrifice. In doing this he acted
in a very excellent and noble way, inasmuch as he had the resurrection in
mind; for if he were not expecting the fallen to rise again, it would have been
superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead. But if he did this with a view to
the splendid reward that awaits those who had gone to rest in godliness, it
was a holy and pious thought. Thus he made atonement for the dead that
they might be absolved from their sin.” (2 Maccabees 12:42:46)
May all the souls of the faithful departed, especially our loved ones
and those who have no one to pray for them, be purified that they may behold
the face of God for all eternity.
