WGManager Administrator Guide
Version 3.5
Preface
The WGManager – Administrator's Manual was written as a user’s guide to who is responsible
for the administration of the WirelessGEST solution. This guide complements the WirelessGEST
User's Guide. Please read both guides before you try to manage the WirelessGEST solution.
The WGManager is the WGS's management interface, which is the central equipment of the
WirelessGEST solutions. The WGManager's documentation does not supply any technical
information about the WGS or any another part of the WirelessGEST solution. The
documentation of the infrastructure that implements the WirelessGEST is available if requested
to NoniusSoft S.A.

WGManager Administrator Guide
Version 3.5
How to Start
This manual explains, step by step, how you can use the WGManager interface. Each chapter
includes essential information so that you can execute the administration tasks. These
instructions include screenshots of the interface to each task.
The information in the
screenshot is generic - it can be different on your monitor - because this information will
depend on the type and amount of users that are registered in the system. Additionally, you
will find several “
Tips” which have been thought to help you resolving recurrent errors in the
usage of the application.

Version 3.5
Application pages – General description
After logging in to the interface, as described in the previous chapter, you will have access to a
set of pages that will allow you to manage the WirelessGEST Solutions. The interface contains
essentially two working areas: a menu in the left area and edition/visualization area in right.
Observe the page in the following figure:
Figure 3: Home Page
To choose a given menu, just click the option you like, and the edition/visualization area will
change accordingly.
In the following chapters, all the WGManager menus are described. Depending on how the
Internet access will be provided, the WGManager interface may present different
menus/options. There are several different ways for providing Internet access that the
administrator may choose:

Internet access based on pre-paid cards (vouchers);

Post-paid Internet access based on manual registration and billing of users through the
WGManager's interface.

Post-paid Internet access based on registration and billing of users automatically
through a front-office system.

Pre-paid Internet access based on registration and billing of users automatically
through a front-office system, but where the user chooses among several payment
options at the login page.

Tip: It is possible to use the pre and post-paid systems simultaneously to, for example, apply
different pricing tables to the users. A hotel, for example, may decide to apply a cheaper price
for the checked in guests and a more expensive price for casual users or conference
participants, for example.

Submenu – Hangup user
This submenu allows the administrator to disconnect a given user. For example, if a user is

administrator may disconnect him from the Internet and may, in a second step, delete its login
data, making it impossible for that user to use the hotspot any longer.
Figure 8: submenu - Hangup user
1.5.
Submenu – Print Ticket
This submenu (only available with the WGTicket module), allows you to print a ticket referring
to any registered user. This gives you the possibility to provide the information about the login
data to a user at any time.
Figure 9: Submenu Print Ticket
1.6.
Submenu – Free Internet
This submenu allows the administrator to enable the provisioning of free Internet access on the
interfaces configured as DHCP LAN Ports at the WGConfig user interface (Please refer to the
WGS’s manual).
Tip: use the name on the left of the checkbox to identify the DHCP server, if you have more
than one DHCP LAN-port.

Click “Create”. You will get a confirmation message - user was created successfully.
Tip: Remember that a user cannot be created if that user already exists. You will get an
error message. You must “Delete” it first using “Edit User”.
When you create a new login account you have to tell the client the username and password (if
you purchased the WGTicket module from Nonius, then a label will be automatically printed in a
ticket’s printer). Alternatively you can print the WGManager's page using the browser print
function. The guest will immediately be able to use the username and password for Internet
access.
Tip: Please read the WirelessGEST Internet User's Guide, provided along with this manual, to
inform the user on how to access the Internet.
The MAC address of a network interface card can be registered to provide free Internet access
to a frequent user of this network. This user will be automatically logged in bypassing the need
to insert a username or password. For registration, fill in the fields described on the following
figure.
Figure 14: submenu – New Mac User

Name (First Name, Surname): Insert the user's first name and surname.
E-Mail: Insert the user's mail address.
Profile Name: Select the profile name for this user. The profiles are created and managed in
the menu “Service Profiles”. Please refer to chapter 4.
Fixed IP Address: Select this option to provide a fixed IP Address to the new MAC user. The
first available IP Address will be immediately shown under this option for selection. The
registered MAC address will always be assigned the chosen IP address.

Submenu - Edit User
Use this submenu to edit the user information or to delete a given login account. Choose the
username and then click on the Edit button.
Figure 15: submenu – Edit user
The account’s information is then shown.
Figure 16: submenu – Edit user
In this page you will be able to modify any field except the username, or to delete the user by
clicking on the Delete button. When you delete a user, he won't be able to initiate a new
Internet session.
Just like the account information by username and password, this submenu allows the change
of the registration by MAC address. Let’s assume that a company changed the person to whom
a given computer was assigned to. In this case, the MAC address remains (the computer
continues to use the same network card), but the person's name and the email address has
changed. This submenu allows you to change this information.

In post-paid systems, there are two billing options:

“Data” – the billing is computed by the amount of generated traffic. The price is
established for transferred bytes.

“Time” – the billing is computed by usage time.
The two options are exclusive and affect only the registered users (not vouchers). The invoices
will be created based on this form. Be aware that invoices are only generated for registered
users (not vouchers).
