Guiné-Bissau
Karyna Gomes é cantora e compositora. Filha de pai guineense
e mãe cabo-verdiana emigrada na Guiné Bissau. Karyna nasceu
em Bissau, cidade pequena e harmoniosa da África ocidental
onde também cresceu a ouvir música tradicional, música urbana
local e ritmos de todo o mundo.
Considera que a sua musicalidade está enraizada nos convívios
de quintal, típicos das sociedades mestiças dos trópicos e do
hemisfério sul e que é influenciada pela sua vivência em três
continentes - África, América Latina e Europa. Iniciou a sua
carreira musical a cantar gospel no grupo ‘Rejoincing Mass
Choir’ em São Paulo onde viveu cinco anos. Após ter
regressado ao país natal em 2007 e a convite de Adriano
Ferreira (Atchutchi), integrou o histórico e revolucionário
grupo Super Mama Djombo.
Em 2014 lançou o seu primeiro álbum “Mindjer” (Get!Records,
2014). Foi destacada com dois prémios de melhor cantora em
2014 no seu país. Foi selecionada para uma showcase na
Atlantic Music Expo 2015.

Guinea Bissau
Karyna Gomes is a singer and composer. Born to a GuineaBissau father and a Cape-Verde mother in the small city of
Bissau, she grew up listening to traditional music, local
urban rhythms, and sounds from all over the world.
Her music is rooted in the courtyard gatherings typical of
tropical societies, and was influenced by her life in three
continents - Africa, Latin America and Europe. She started
her career singing in the gospel group "Rejoicing Mass Choir"
in São Paulo, Brazil, where she lived for five years. After
returning to her country in 2007, Karyna was invited
by Adriano Ferreira (Atchutchi) to sing in the historical and
revolutionary group "Super Mama Djombo".
In 2014 she launched her first album "Mindjer" (Get!Records),
which awarded her with two Best Singer prizes in GuineaBissau and got her selected for a showcase in the Atlantic
Music Expo 2015, in Cape-Verde. Karyna lives in Lisbon,
Portugal, and she is currently preparing her second album.
