End of Year Edition
Some
words from the President…
So we’ve reached the end of yet another year! By no means has this been an ordinary one, as we’ve seen our extraordinary club turn 50 and go forward in leaps and bounds in so many areas. We’ve upgraded our training area to include a state-‐of-‐the-‐art indoor facility, which has proven to be loved by players, parents and coaches alike (especially when it has been raining!). Grand finals for Spring are done and dusted and we walked away with three premiers. Congratulations to our Premier Vipers, U17/1 Storm and our U17/3 Lightning. Congratulations to all our teams who made grand finals -‐ finishing top two for the season is a great effort. You’ll find photos of all our Grand Finalist teams in this newsletter!!! Registration is now open for the 2015 Winter season. Check you emails for information on how to register. Any questions please call Janet Hansen or Stephanie Panayi. Contact numbers can be found on Page 3. Important Dates

Our thoughts with his family and with Sean Abbott as well through this trying time. A big welcome to the existing and new members of the RNC Committee, who were voted in and appointed their respective positions at the Annual General Meeting last month. Farewell to those hard workers who will be taking a step back from committee duties next year. Merry Christmas and stay safe! Jackie Deane, President

Our Spring Premiers
PREMIER VIPERS
Robyn Lyons, Coach The Vipers played their second grand final for the year and this one delivered a different result A WIN! All the players put in a great performance, and missing two players: Jackie Carroll away overseas and Amy Draper out injured, meant that only eight players were available. All areas of the court worked beautifully together and Megan did a great job moving from defence to goals, leaving Kristi and Emily to do a really tight job in defence. Steph, Bianca, Tayla and Caitlin linked both ends together very efficiently. I’m very proud of the girls, who have had a great year and I look forward to bigger and better things in 2015. Thanks to Shaun for being an awesome team manager and all the parents for their brilliant support of the team and myself. ROWVILLE VIPERS (35) DEFEATED

Janet Hansen, Coach Firstly, I would like to say what a pleasure it has been coaching this enthusiastic group of young ladies. Their hard work and determination throughout the season paid off when they won the U17/3 premiership against Mountain Gate by 23 goals. Team Lightning has shown strength all season and has been the stand out team in their section. Going into the grand final you can never be complacent, as we all know despite your season’s effort, anything can happen on the day! I am very pleased that my girls remained composed against a very physical Mountain Gate side, stuck to the game plan and came out victors! I would like to thank all the girls for making my job easy, their parents for their support and my daughter Holly Newman for filling in when we lost Rhianne to injury. Also thanks to Steve Edwards for scoring the grand final. A fantastic all-‐round team effort, well done girls!! 2

Kristi Proctor, Coach The girls had and an awesome year. Unbeaten all season and played amazing games, I have seen massive changes in the girl’s games, not only individually but as a team. The bond between this team in unbreakable. I am so proud of them. Watching them grow throughout the season was truly a pleasure. In the grand final there was not one girl who didn’t give me 110 per cent. I could not have asked for a better bunch of girls!!! ROWVILLE STORM (40) DEFEATED

All these girls played representative netball this year in ELEVEN and under! They started the Spring Season in U13/3 before being regarded into U13/2 where they had an amazing season making the grand final against Boronia. Despite playing against older and more experienced teams all season, the girls played their hearts out each week before losing in the grand final by only two goals. OPEN 2 LEGENDS

Going into the grand final without ever beating Boronia before was going to be a challenge, and we were hoping for a fantastic team performance to beat them in the most important game of the season. We started off strong and had fantastic movement, however we went into the first quarter with a deficit. We continued to fight hard and put pressure on Boronia which was unfortunately not reflected on the scoreboard. We tried to catch them in the last quarter with a strong performance, but could not catch them in the end. Thanks for a fantastic season girls! Umpiring Update!

Coaches Wrap
Steve Edwards, Coaches Coordinator Another year of netball has drawn to a close and it was a very successful year for the Rowville Netball Club. To have 40 teams in both Winter and Spring seasons is a great reflection of how strong the club is. There have been many highlights during the year and one of these was the move to indoor training facilities at Rowville Secondary College in June 2014. Training at this venue eliminates one of our prior obstacles, namely inability to train due to adverse weather. The feedback has been great so far and I am sure that we will see the benefits for many years to come.
During the year we welcomed 13 new coaches to the club. It is important in a large club to be able to constantly top up coaching numbers and we continue to do this with high quality people who are all 100 per cent committed to providing a positive and safe environment for our kids. This year we saw, Tayla Deane obtain her B badge, while Ash Egbers, Courtney Atkinson, Maddi Deane, Rebecca Young and Cara Woolley all obtained their C badge. Congratulations girls! In 2014 we also had 10 new umpires commence. I would like to thank Steph Panayi, Taylor Panayi, Jackie Carroll, Indi Carroll and Loretta Wingfield for mentoring. I will be handing the role of Umpires Coordinator in 2015 over to Caitlin Yann – I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every umpire over the past two years for all your help and support. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!
U17/3 Lightning
Our coaches do a brilliant job – they are volunteers who give up many hours of their time each week to look after our children. Their passion and commitment to coaching is first class and on behalf of RNC I would like to say a big thank you for your contribution during the year. Your efforts are very much appreciated. Also, thank you to our assistant coaches who provide valuable support to our coaches. We are always on the lookout for new coaches and if you are interested please contact me or any other member of the committee.

Enjoy the game.”
Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year! -Michael Jordan
