NOÉ SENDAS Significant Others 09/21 - 10/22 2016 Opening 09/21 at 6pm Photography, collage, objects and installation SIGNIFICANT OTHERS is the first Noé Sendas’ solo show in Carlos Carvalho Contemporary Art gallery, following two years of representation in which we can highlight the participation in Paris Photo in 2015, Photo London 2016 and the next edition of Paris Photo that will be held in November 10 to 13, 2016. Noé Sendas’ work shows explicit or implicit references to multiple creators, especially in the literary field, film and contemporary dance. Along with this repertoire of influences, the artist has specific concerns on the reflection and the practice of the visual arts. We also have to refer the body, as simultaneously a theoretical and material entity. The observer's perception mechanisms and the discursive potential of exhibition methods are other subjects of work. In SIGNIFICANT OTHERS installation, which is designed specifically for the gallery, we find some recurring features in the work of Noé Sendas: the use of duplication, the presence of various means of expression (sculpture / object, photography, collage) and also a conceptual and spatial system based on mechanisms from various sources of materials. In all of these the underlying logic is not only ownership, but the definition of a another author. In photography, sculpture and collages, the artist uses assembly strategies such as removing, filling, tampering or duplication and sequence. Through this small deviations the image real sense is changed, because the context its nullified. This technique allows him to create an unique form of visual writing and creative play of hues between blind, suggestion and revelation. Always creating enigmatic and amazing works.
