Clare Apps, The Jug Shop (San Francisco, CA)
Clare Apps is the Domestic and European Head Buyer at The Jug Shop in San
Francisco, CA. She is WSET III Certified and Le Cordon Bleu Savory Certified, and
currently taking the DWS certification. Before joining The Jug Shop in 2014, Clare
was the Beverage & Specialty Manager at Palace Market, and before that was the
owner and Chef at Iris, her private chef and consulting business, where she handled
direct to consumer catering, small plates and also consulted with menu & food
pairing design both for consumers and restaurants for over 17 years. From The Jug
Shop’s founding in 1965, they have been a San Francisco destination for a
comprehensive range of wine, beer, and distilled spirits. Family owned and
operated, their philosophy combines dependable, personal service with knowledgeable and friendly staff. They
hold weekly wine tastings and aim to help their customers learn about their own palates, ensuring they leave
with a bottle that will make them happy.
Jeff Diamond, Farmstead Cheeses & Wines (Oakland, CA)
Jeff Diamond has owned and operated Farmstead Cheeses and Wines in Oakland
and Alameda, California since 2003. He is responsible for all wine purchasing
decisions, writing Farmstead's newsletters, as well as curating the wines for
Farmstead's several wine clubs. It was his passion for wine and wine culture that
led Jeff to open the shops; his prior work experience was in arts and entertainment
public relations and computer industry outbound communications. So at age 47,
Jeff took the plunge and opened his first retail wine shop in Alameda,
California. The second shop followed a few years later. Both shops feature
cheeses and wines from around the world, a lively tasting program, many wine
clubs, and a convivial, educational atmosphere. Besides food and wine, Jeff enjoys hiking, cooking, literature,
history, art, music, exploring the world with his wife Carol, and hanging out with his dogs Doris and Andy.
Delia Sie, Bay Grape Wine Shop (Oakland, CA)
After graduating with a degree in English literature and creative writing from
Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota--with a study-abroad stint and walkabout
in China--Delia Sie returned to her hometown of San Francisco keen to explore the
Bay Area's multicultural dining and drinking culture. Working as a barista and
events production manager while coordinating regular at-home dinner parties, she
developed a particular appreciation for bringing people together... and an instinct
that food and wine foster a strong sense of community. Delia first volunteered to
intern at Bay Grape Wine Shop to help develop its tasting and events program, but
her sharp palate and intuition for service quickly won her a promotion to manager
and assistant buyer. In her free time, she focuses on perfecting her recipe for dumplings in between studying
for the Court of Master Sommeliers certification. She loves floral Cabernet Francs and is forever ruined by an
epic bottle of Clos Rougeard on the eve of the announcement of Charly Foucault's death.
Glenn Wiedemer, Central Park Liquor (Steamboat Springs, CO)
Glenn started off in the restaurant business as a server and then moved into
management while in college in Southern Colorado. After school, he was hired by
RNDC as a sales representative for the Steamboat Springs area and sold wine in both
retail and restaurants. He moved up to District Manager for the Northern Mountains
and then Vice President of Mountain Sales. He left RNDC in 2012 and bought into
Central Park Liquor, where he runs the wine program. Glenn’s interests include skiing,
biking and most things outdoors.
Sunil Khurana, Westchester Wine Warehosue (White Plains, NY)
Sunil Khurana is the owner of Westchester Wine Warehouse. Since January of
2003, they have been serving the Tri-State area, offering the most exclusive
selection of wine and spirits available at their 11,000 sq. ft. facility in White
Plains, NY. Their inventory is always increasing to accommodate an evergrowing customer base. Exemplary teamwork and outstanding patronage over
the years has given them the opportunity to offer the most attractive and
competitive prices anywhere. Their approach begins with understanding a
complex market that is steeped in tradition and constantly evolving. On board
