Finalmente, observará como o Bildungsroman do séc. XX, no dinamismo evolutivo do modelo, procura questionar a possibilidade de renovação desse programa cultural. Learning outcomes of the curricular unit The curricular unit will study how literature – particularly the model of the Bildungsroman – begins to participate in the achievement of a cultural program of human and social formation, born with the optimistic view of the illuminist project and developed by the German intellectual and artistic dynamism, after the end of the 18th century. It will study how Bildungsroman treats the degeneration of this cultural program during the 19th century. Finally, it will perceive how the 20th century Bildungsroman, evolving from the original model, tries to question the possibility of the cultural program’s renovation. 6. Demonstration of the coherence between the syllabus and the curricular unit's objectives The curricular unit will study how literature relates to culture and society, how it is influenced by a cultural heritage and environment, interpreting its practices, beliefs and values, and tries to promote changes, as a fundamental instrument of mediation. The focus on Bildungsroman and its intellectual and artistic dynamism, will allow to understand a major example of how literature can engage in a cultural program of individual and collective transformation, so to achieve a better society; how an utopian generous project can degenerate in a ever-changing cultural scenario; yet, keeping alive the ideal of its original model, literature can keep alive the intellectuals’ dream of having a decisive word in a cultural program for the renovation of the society. 8.
