Aloha Fellow Rotarians,

On July 22, 2014, we are having
the Larry Hatfield Scholarship
Golf Tournament at Makaha
Valley Country Club after our
meeting and we ask you to invite
your friends to participate in this
very worthy scholarship
fundraiser. Please let me know
if you are available on July 26,
2014 to assist with the Youth
Sports Physical Exams at

No.385–07/18/14
At our last meeting on July 15,
2014, our guest speaker was
John Cummings from the
Department of Emergency
Management, C&C of Honolulu
and he spoke about disaster
preparedness and response. As
a matter of fact on July 18, a
tropical storm name Wali formed
in the Central Pacific and is
expected to hit Hawaii this
weekend with rain and strong
winds that could cause floods,
power outage, etc. Please take
precaution and be prepared.
Hurricane Season is from June to
November and we must be
prepared in the event the
“Makani” hits Hawaii.
At our next week’s meeting,
Corporal Joe Tabarejo from the
HPD Community Policing will
be speaking about criminal
activities on the Waianae Coast
and also an effort to organize a
Disaster Preparedness
Committee in Waianae. The
Waianae Military Civilian
Advisory Council (WMCAC)
will take the lead in this program
and the objective is to
consolidate organizations in
Waianae that have disaster
preparedness programs. The
Waianae Disaster Preparedness
program will be part of the
Cross-Island Resilience Program
made up of many districts on
Oahu which is supported by the
Department of Emergency
Management, Red Cross, and
other emergency agencies.

Above Self and your dedication
