Trailhead The trailhead at the church in
Brennbichl (a district of Imst) can be accessed via the Imst exit and then following
the signposts towards the industrial area.
There is plenty of parking. Alternatively, the
trailhead is accessible via the Imst-Pitztal
train station. Proceed west on the Inntal cycling trail (2) to the turnoff for the Gurgltal
cycling trail (5), then continue north for
about 700 m until you reach the church.
Trail features With an elevation gain of
1300 m, this route is quite demanding. The
trails are well-constructed and signposted.
However, don’t underestimate the steepness
of this difficult route (up and downhill).
Riding time is 5 hours.
Route description Just after the church
turn southwest onto a backroad. Stay on this
road for about 400 m until you reach the
turnoff for Brennbichl (at the supermarket).
Proceed to the Inntal cycling trail (620) and
follow it through the industrial area. Continue on the road across the Inn river and the
motorway to Imst Au, where the uphill
starts. Proceed on the paved road through
Imsterberg. From here, follow the signposts
to Venetalm (604). After a few turns in the
forest, you will get to the long ridge with the
beautifully situated Venetalm (4 hours from
Imst). From Venetalm, go back the same way
for about 200 m and turn right towards
Wenns (640). Then keep following the yellow
signposts to Wenns (1 hour from Venetalm).
