Dann schaut vorbei in Österreichs höchstgelegenen Elektro-Motocross Park,
auch bekannt als Schmidolins Feuerstuhl, wo Kinder von 6 – 14 Jahren auf E-Bikes
Gas geben. Im Fahrerlager werdet ihr mit Schützer, Helm, Brille und Handschuhen ausgerüstet und schon kann’s losgehen. Im Kinder-Parcours gibt es Hindernisse wie steile
Kurven oder ein schmales Brett zum Drüberfahren. Auf den speziell für Kinder designten
OSET-Bikes könnt ihr Gleichgewicht und Koordination üben.
Aber auf der Schmitten könnt ihr nicht nur auf heißen Reifen, sondern auch auf leisen
Sohlen unterwegs sein. Jede Menge Spaß und Abenteuer für Groß und Klein warten auf
dem Erlebniswanderweg Schmidolins Feuertaufe und auf der Höhenpromenade.
Findet heraus, welche Stationen bei der Feuertaufe auf euch warten, was es auf der
Höhenpromenade alles zu entdecken gibt und wie ihr einen Familienurlaub in
Zell am See gewinnen könnt!?
Nicht nur am Berg, auch am See ist im Sommer einiges los. Die MS Schmittenhöhe
feiert diesen Sommer ihren 10. Geburtstag. Lerne in dieser Schmidolin Kinderpost auch
die anderen Schiffe am Zeller See kennen. Neben dem Flaggschiff drehen drei weitere
Motorschiffe am Zeller See ihre Runden. Während einer Panorama-Rundfahrt habt ihr
die beste Aussicht auf die Bergstadt Zell am See und das umliegende Bergpanorama.

Stop by in Austria‘s highest Electricmotocross park, where children from
6 – 14 years step on gas on eco-friendly
electric-bikes. Protective equipment such
as helmet, goggles, gloves and various
protectors you‘ll get locally.
Costs: € 12,00 for 20 min. driving time
Where: Areitbahn I mountain station
Open: daily from 04.06. – 13.09.15,
from 10 am – 3.30 pm
Then, come to Austria´s highest Electric-motocross park, also known as
Schmidolin´s rocket bike, where kids from 6 – 14 years old step on the gas.
You will be equipped with protective gear, helmet, goggles and gloves in the rider´s
corner and then off you go. The children´s course has obstacles such as steep curves
and a narrow board to ride over. The OSET-bikes are especially designed for children
to practice their balance and coordination.
However, the Schmitten is ideal for walking, as well as for hot wheels! There is a lot of
fun and adventure for young and old on Schmidolin´s baptism of fire adventure path
and on the High altitude promenade. Find out which stations are awaiting you,
how much there is to discover on the High altitude promenade and what your chances
are of winning a family holiday in Zell am See!?
There is also a lot happening on the lake in summer, not only on the mountain.
The MS Schmittenhöhe is celebrating its 10th birthday this summer. Get to know the
other boats on Lake Zell in this Schmidolin Kid’s Post. There are three other motor boats
cruising around the lake beside the flagship. You have the best views of the township of
Zell am See and the surrounding mountain world during a panorama-cruise.

„Schmidolin´s baptism of fire“
Beim Erlebniswanderweg „Schmidolins Feuertaufe“ kannst
du nicht nur spannende Stationen mit Mut und Geschick
bewältigen, sondern hilfst Schmidolin dabei die Kunst
des Feuer speien zu erlernen.
Beweise deine Coolness wenn du über die glühenden Kohlen
läufst, bringe das Feuerrad ins Rollen oder zeige im Stangenwald ob du schwindelfrei bist? Eine ruhige Hand brauchst du
beim Feuerdraht und eine gute Balance bei der Feuerbrücke.
Finde den Weg durch das Labyrinth bei der Station Verschlungener Pfad oder klettere beim Steilhang am Tauseil dem Feuerstein
entgegen. Finde bei jeder Station heraus, ob sich ein roter, blauer
oder gelber Feuerstein versteckt hält. Im Abenteuerpass kannst
du die richtige Farbe markieren. Wenn du alle 15 Aufgaben
erfolgreich bewältigt hast, bekommst du eine tolle Urkunde!
On „Schmidolin´s baptism of fire“ adventure path there
are not only exciting stations to negotiate, but also to help
Schmidolin to learn the art of spitting fire!
Show how cool you are when you run barefoot over burning
coals, start the wheel of fire or are happy with heights in the
pole forest! You need a steady hand for the firewire and good
balance on the bridge of fire. Find your way through the labyrinth
on the twisting path and climb the cliff with a rope towards
the flint stone. At every station, find out whether a red, blue or
yellow flint stone is hidden there. You can mark the correct
colour (maybe with your parent´s help) in your adventure pass.
When you have successfully completed all 15 tasks, you
can swap your pass for a certificate.
TIPP: Im Wald findest du Schmidolins Mini-Kletterpark. Dieser
ist speziell auf die Fähigkeiten kleiner Kletterfans zugeschnitten,
wo du schwingend, balancierend oder springend die verschiedenen
Hindernisse überwinden kannst. Mut brauchst du dann beim
Flying Fox, wo es mit hoher Geschwindigkeit den Berg runter geht.
TIP: Close to the first station, the burning coals, you can
find Schmidolin´s Mini Climbing Park in the forest. It is especially
suitable for our small climbing fans, where they can manage the
various obstacles by swinging, balancing or springing over them.
At the end you will need a lot of courage to take the Flying Fox
speeding down the mountain.

mich mit meinen Freunden Eule
Eulalia, Hase Hansi & Igel Fritz.
Wir machen die Familienwanderung auf der Schmitten.
Jeden Mittwoch, bei der Familienwanderung mit
unserer Waldpädagogin Lara, lernt ihr Spannendes
über die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt auf der Schmitten.
Endlich ist es soweit! Als wir um 9.45 Uhr bei der
Schmittenhöhebahn Talstation ausgerüstet mit
vollgepackten Rucksack und Wanderschuhen bereit
stehen, kommt eine gut gelaunte junge Dame auf uns
zu. „Guten Morgen zusammen!“, werden wir freundlich
begrüßt. Sie stellt sich mit dem Namen Lara vor und
ist heute unsere Wanderführerin. Zusammen geht es
mit der Schmittenhöhebahn auf den Gipfel.
„Am Berg gibt es einiges zu entdecken“, sagt Lara.
Dafür ist die Wanderung entlang der Höhenpromenade
bestens geeignet. Fröhlich wandern wir entlang der
Höhenpromenade und genießen den Blick auf den
Zeller See. „Ich habe einen Murmeltierbau entdeckt!!“,
ruft Hase Hansi uns völlig außer Atem zu. „Jaaa, da
wohnen die Manggei“, erklärt Lara uns. „Manggei
waaas??“ „Manggei – so sagt man im Pinzgau zu
den Murmeltieren“, sagt Lara. Ein Murmeltierbau ist
ein richtiger Irrgarten. Ständig werden von den
Murmeltieren neue Gänge und Höhlen angelegt.
Dort halten sie im Winter ihren Winterschlaf, der oft
bis zu neun Monate dauern kann. „Sucht euch den
Weg durch den Bau!“, ruft Lara. „Ich warte am anderen Ende auf euch.“ Und schon geht es weiter mit

unserer Wanderung. Plötzlich sehe ich etwas Blaues
am Wegesrand hervorblitzen. „Kann man diese Beeren
essen?“, frage ich unsere Wanderführerin. „Das sind
Blaubeeren!“, verrät mir Lara. „Man kennt sie auch als
Heidelbeeren. Heidelbeeren wachsen in Wäldern und
in den Alpen im Gebirge auf bis zu 2.500 Metern Seehöhe und werden im Sommer geerntet. Du kannst die
Heidelbeeren essen. Sie sind sehr gesund. Zeig uns
nachher deine Zunge!“ Der Saft der Heidelbeere färbt
deine Hände und Zunge blau.
Während wir weitergehen entdecken wir in einem
schattigen Waldabschnitt noch etwas Essbares
entlang des Wanderweges. „Sooo viele Pilze!“, staunt
meine Freundin Eulalia. Aber Achtung, nicht alle Pilze
kann man essen! Lara klärt uns auf. „Besonders
nach regenreichen Tagen sprießen die Pilze über
Nacht aus dem feuchten Waldboden. Über der Erde
wächst der Fruchtkörper, das ist der Teil den man
beim Pilze sammeln erntet. Der Fruchtkörper besteht
aus dem Hut und dem Stiel, während sich unter der
Erde der eigentliche Pilz befindet. Dort bildet jeder
Pilz ein weit verzweigtes Netz aus dünnen weißen
Fäden, der sogenannte Myzel, über die der Pilz die
Nährstoffe aufnehmen kann. Die häufigsten Pilze, die
hier vorkommen sind die Steinpilze, die Pfifferlinge
(oder Eierschammerl), der Parasol (Riesenschirmlinge),
der Knollenblätterpilz oder der Fliegenpilz. Während
man mit Steinpilzen, Parasolen oder Pfifferlingen gute
Pilzgerichte kochen kann, sind der rote Fliegenpilz
und der Knollenblätterpilz giftig. Deshalb dürft ihr nur
Pilze sammeln die ihr kennt! Am besten nehmt ihr eure
Eltern oder einen erwachsenen Pilze-Kenner beim
Sammeln mit. Aber zum Pilze sammeln haben wir
heute keine Zeit. Kommt, wir müssen weiter!“, fordert
Lara uns auf. Wir sind alle gespannt was es jetzt noch
zu entdecken gibt.

„SSSSsssshhhh“ – summend kommt uns eine Biene
entgegengeflogen. „Da vorne habe ich einen Bienenstock mit vielen fleißigen Bienen gesehen!“, weiß Eule
Eulalia. „Was machen die Bienen hier?“, fragen wir
unsere Wanderführerin Lara neugierig. „Die Biene ist
eines der wichtigsten Nutztiere!“, beginnt Lara zu erzählen. „Nicht nur, weil mir der Honig so gut schmeckt,
sondern weil die Bienen beim Nahrung sammeln die
Blüten der Pflanzen bestäuben. Ohne Bienen gäbe es
keine Blumen, kein Obst und kaum Gemüse. Ach ja,
und keinen Honig! Bienen leben in einem Bienenvolk
zusammen. Ein fleißiges Bienenvolk wohnt in diesem
Bienenstock. Jedes Bienenvolk hat eine Königin, viele
Arbeiterinnen und männliche Bienen, die sogenannten
Drohnen. Während die Königin täglich über 1.000 Eier
legt, sammeln die fleißigen Arbeiterinnen Honig.
Der Honig wird in den Waben, die sich im Bienenstock
befinden, gespeichert. Im Herbst, wenn die Waben
gut gefüllt sind kommt der Imker und holt den Honig
heraus. Der Honig wir durch einen Sirup aus Zucker
und Wasser ersetzt und dient als Wintervorrat für
die Bienen.“
Von hier aus kann man bereits den Spielplatz am
Sonnkogel sehen. Beim Sonnkogel Restaurant
ist die Familienwanderung zu Ende. Es war ein toller
Vormittag!! Und noch nie haben wir beim Wandern so
viel Interessantes über die Tiere und Pflanzen gelernt!
Vielleicht sind nächsten Mittwoch auch einige von
euch bei der Wanderung dabei!??

„I know what I am doing this
Wednesday“, and it will be
fun - with my friends Eulalia
Owl, Hansi Rabbit and
Fritz Hedgehog.
We are having a family hike on the Schmitten.
Every Wednesday, on our family hike with our forest
educationist Lara, we learn exciting things about the
animal and plant world on the Schmitten.
Our rucksacks are full and our mountain boots ready
as a happy young lady arrives to greet us at 9.45 am
at the valley station of the Schmittenhöhebahn.
„Good morning,“ she says, my name is Lara and
I am your hiking guide for today. Together we take the
Schmittenhöhebahn cable car to the summit.
„There is a lot to discover on the mountain,“ says Lara.
The walk along the High altitude promenade is just
perfect for this. Happily we walk along the High altitude promenade and enjoy the view over Lake Zell.
„I have discovered a marmot cave!!“ calls Hansi
Rabbit completely out of breath. „Yes, that´s where
the Manggei live,“ says Lara. „Manggei whaaaat??“
„Manggei – that´s what we say in Pinzgau for a
marmot,“ explains Lara. A marmot hole is a real maze.
The marmots are always making new tunnels and
caves. They hibernate there in winter and can often
sleep for up to nine months. „Find a way through the
hole,“ calls Lara, „I´ll wait for you at the other end.“
Then we continue with our walk. Suddenly I see
something blue twinkling at the side of the path.
„Can we eat these berries?“ I ask our hiking guide.
„These are blueberries!“ explains Lara. „One also calls
them bilberries. They grow in forests and in the
mountains up to an altitude of 2,500 meters.
They are picked in summer and can be eaten, they
are very healthy. Show us your tongue afterwards!“
The juice of the berries colours your hands and
your tongue blue.
We discover something edible again in a shady
part of the woods a little further on. „Sooo many
mushrooms!“ marveled my friend Eulalia. But careful,
you can´t eat all kinds of mushrooms! Lara clarifies
it for us. „Especially after rainy days the mushrooms
spring up over night from the moist forest floor.
The fruiting body, the part which is gathered, is the
hat and the stem. However, the mushroom fungus
is actually a network of thin white threads under the
ground. This is called the mycelium - which collects
nutrition for the mushrooms. The most common
mushrooms found here are the porcini, the chanterelles, the parasol, the death cap and the fly agaric.
One can cook delicious dishes with the porcini,
chanterelles and parasol mushrooms, but the red
fly agaric and death cap are poisonous. Therefore,
you can only collect mushrooms that you know and
it is best to take your parents or a mushroom expert
with you. But right now we don´t have time to collect
mushrooms, let´s walk on!“ says Lara. We are all
curious about what comes next.
„BZZZZZzzzzz“ – a bee comes buzzing by. „There is a
beehive straight ahead with many hard-working bees,
I´ve seen it!“ Eulalia Owl says knowingly. „What are
the bees doing here?“ we ask our hiking guide Lara
curiously. „The bee is one of the most important
working animals,“ she says, „not only because the
honey tastes so good, but also because the bee dust
the blooms of the plants whilst gathering their nutrition. Without bees there would be no flowers, no fruit
and hardly any vegetables and no honey! Bees live
together in a beehive and busily work there. Each bee
community has a queen bee, many workers and male
bees, called drones. The busy workers collect honey
whilst the queen bee lays over 1,000 eggs a day.
The honey is stored in honeycombs, which are kept in
the beehive. In autumn, when the honeycombs are full,
the beekeeper comes and takes away the honey.
The honey is replaced with a syrup made out of water
and sugar and is the nutrition for the bees in winter.“
From here you can see the Sonnkogel playground
and the family hike comes to an end at the Sonnkogel
Restaurant. It was a great morning!! We have never
learnt so many interesting things about animals and
plants before!

Das Flaggschiff feiert Geburtstag:
Vor genau zehn Jahren wurde das
35 Meter lange, über 7 Meter breite
und 160 Tonnen schwere Schiff in der
Lux-Werft in Mondorf (Deutschland)
gebaut und mittels Ausnahmetransport nach Zell am See gebracht.
Am 14. Mai 2005 hieß es auf dem
Zeller See „Leinen los“ und die
MS Schmittenhöhe ging für Rundfahrten und Charterfahrten in Betrieb.
The flagship on Lake Zell, is celebrating its birthday: Exactly ten years
ago the 35 meter long, 7 meter wide
and 160 tonne ship was built in the
Lux-shipyard in Mondorf (Germany)
and brought to Zell am See with a
special transporter. It was time to
„cast off“ on the 14th May 2005 and
the MS Schmittenhöhe began its panoramic cruises around the lake. It can
also be chartered for special events.

Im Stundentakt legt die MS Schmittenhöhe zur Rundfahrt am Zeller See ab.
Besonders beliebt sind die Plätze

Zell am See und das umliegende
Panorama hat. Wenn ihr Glück habt,
könnt ihr vielleicht einen Blick zum
Kapitän in den Steuerstand werfen!

the lake. The seats on the sundeck are
perfect for wonderful panoramic views
of the Zell am See township and the
surrounding mountain world.

It was christened with this name
in remembrance of a visit by
Empress „Sisi“ to Zell am See.

whilst its guests enjoy
beautiful views.

Nostalgic boat Libelle is the
oldest boat in the fleet, built in
1947. It is perfect to charter for
weddings and other
celebrations on Lake Zell.

an den Besuch der Kaiserin
„Sisi“ in Zell am See wurde das
Schiff nach ihrem Namen getauft.

Seeufer ans andere und
genießt dabei eine wunderbare Aussicht.

der Areitbahn I Bergstation: habt Spaß mit den geräuschlosen
OSET-Bikes und flitzt über Hindernisse.

Areitbahn I mountain station: have fun with silent OSET-bikes and
whizz over the obstacles.
